2010 BMW X3, X5, X6, Z4 Lease Rates – March 2010

logo_bmwMy Take: Residuals went south on the X3 this month while the MF didn’t really drop enough to keep payments resonable. You do get a $1500 customer cash, but that’s about it. I am starting to see a disturbing trend with BMWFS lately were rebates are being used to offset lower residuals and/or high money factors. For promotional purposes, its sounds great that BMWFS is throwing cash at their cars. However when you screw around with the lease financing, it really doesn’t make that huge of a difference at the end of the day. Not surprisingly, the X5,X6 rates remained the same as last month, but the rebates are not available on those models. Still a decent lease, but short of a great “deal”

2010 BMW X3, X5, X6 Lease Rates – February 2010

logo_bmwMy Take: Sorry Danny, I said a few minutes, but it turned into a few hours. Internet has been pretty slow today, so I had to resort to mooching off 3G wireless off my phone (yes, my home network is THAT bad right now). Anyway, the only lease I would consider off this list is the BMW X5 xDrive 48i and the 2010 BMW X6 xDrive50i. The residuals are high and the money factor is low (relative to their model). I would still recommend some MSDs on these rides since the price tag on these puppies are pretty steep.

2010 BMW X3, X5, X6 Lease Rates – December 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Ditto, ditto, ditto. Just trying to plow through all the BMW lease rates, so here they are. Just a small FYI regarding rebates. The higher the price tag of the car, the less of a deal the rebates provide. A lower MF is ALWAYS preferable when you are talking about cars north of $40,000. I personally think the rebates work best on the 1-series and 3-series.

2010 BMW X3, X5, X6 Lease Rates – November 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: BMWFS seems to be throwing around the $2500 customer cash like its a great deal or something. As I mentioned to you before in the 5-series post, a lower MF is preferred over a $2500 rebate. As you start looking at more expenstive cars, I’d rather have a lower interest rate than a straight up cash discount. With that said, despite the $2500 rebate, none of these SUV’s are worth leasing this month (if you don’t might pay more for them, be my guest).

2010 BMW X3, X5, X6 Lease Rates – October 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Again, same lease rates as last month. X5 and X6’s look decent, but the X3 should not be considered right now. The last time X3 was a good lease was December 2008, since them the rates have stayed sucky for quite some time. Maybe they will sweeten the lease rates a bit this Holiday season, but I wouldn’t exactly count on it.

2010 BMW X-Series Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Wow, BMWFS seems to be adjusting their residual values on the 2010 for sure now. Compare 2009 numbers with 2010 numbers on the X line of SUVs. The residuals are maybe 1 or 2 points higher than a 2009 August rate! Looks like tough times ahead for BMW lessees. They don’t look horrible, but I get the feeling that things are gonna get a bit more expensive down the road since residual values have the tendency to drop over time. Maybe BMWFS will keep the residuals steady for a longer period of time, then fluctuate the MF based on previous month sales figures? (wishful thinking here). Either way, brace yourself if you plan to lease a BMW in the coming year.

09 BMW X-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: The X3, X5 and X6 lease rates remain unchanged from last month. This means that the X5 and X6 are still pretty good leases right now. A little side note on the X3…the numbers may look pretty bad, but this model does qualify for about $3500 in the “Cash for Clunkers” program, so be sure to look into it if you have a clunker to trade in. The $1750 lease cash is still available on the X5 and X6 this month.

09 BMW X-Series Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Skip the X3, skip the X5 3.0 , X5 diesel and X6 3.5. Stick with the X5 4.8 and the X6 5.0 because that’s the better value. Sure, its more expensive, but residuals are high and the money factors are reasonable. Don’t forget the MSDs! I’m am really surprised that most people still opt to put money down instead of opting for “multiple security deposit” when it comes to expensive cars. You really should consider that instead of putting money towards cap reduction because it will save you money in the long run. With security deposits, you will save in finance charges AND you get your money back at lease end. That is not the case when you put money down. Sure, your payments will be significantly lower, but that $3500 is pretty much gone for good. I know using $3500* towards security deposits seems stupid since you lock that in for about 36 months, but lowering your interest rate from 3.9% down to 2.9% on a 20,000+ loan will give you a better return than putting that $3500* in a 1.5% interest baring account. I’m a bit pressed for time so I can’t break it down for you financially, so just take my word for it.

Now eventhough the X5 4.8 is a pretty decent deal, the X6 is still the better buy, if that car fits your needs. Why? 2% residual value increase saves you more money than a drop of .0002 points in the MF. So the X6 makes THE LIST instead. Before I forget, there is also $1750 lease cash on it, so that just sweetens the deal that much more.

*I am using this as an example, your security deposits may vary.
