2011-12 Volvo Lease Rates – June 2011

Special thanks to Matt for providing me with such a complete list of Volvo lease rates! I am very thankful for those of you who help me out by sending me lease rates. It really makes my life easier, so I greatly appreciate all the help!

Looking over the numbers, some models look quite promising. The C30 seems okay, the C70 looks pretty good and the S80 shows some promise. SoCal discounts are around 8-9% off MSRP for the C30, 10% for the C70 and about 11% for the S80. Keep in mind that these are for the 2011 models. Since 2012 are out for some of these cars, your choices for a 2011 may be more limited. I am personally digging the C70 because the residual is relatively high (for a Volvo) and the money factor breaks down to only 1.15% in interest. Tack on a big 10% discount and you get a 90+ RWG rating, which is pretty rare for Volvos.

On a different note, the S40 will be pulled from the US market next year. The same goes for the V50. Volvo cites that “Americans haven’t learned to love small cars” as the reason for pulling out. I’m thinking it’s more like “We simply cannot complete with an inferior product”. The entry-level luxury segment is ultra competitive and there are better and cheaper options out there. A loaded S40 with moonroof will run you about $36k MSRP and I’m not even talking R-Design. Can anyone think of better options at this price range? I know I can.

2011-12 Volvo Lease Rates – March 2011

Lease rates have gotten slightly worse last month, but incentives are exactly the same as last month, with the addition of $500 dealer cash on C30s and C70s.

The S60 was a great deal last month and according to LCH77, his dealer offered an even better one! See Forums for more details. There is about $2500 worth in dealer and manufacturer cash that is applicable with leases and can be combined with the low rates.

Per my calculations, the 2011 S60 has gone up by $5. However, the price listed does not have any of the rebates. So I think you could do better. If I were in the market for one, I would take about $5000 off the MSRP then shave another $2500 off with the rebates. If that works out, you would be looking at a $369 per month payment (pre-tax) and a 102.8 RWG rating. That, my friends, is one HOT Volvo lease. Wow, I kind of want one now…

Monthly Round-Up : February 2011

Lease rates didn’t change much from last month, but sale prices dropped for most vehicles, which makes February a slightly better month than January. The were a few exceptions, such as in Honda’s case. Honda sales prices in the Southern California region seems to have gone up a bit, making the leases slightly more costly than back in December and January. You will see in the chart that certain Honda’s RWG rating have dropped slightly, but overall, still a very good lease compared to other brands and models.

I have been suggested to perhaps breakdown the Round-Up by class, which I think is a good idea. I will try to spend some time next month reorganize the list and rank the leases by class. In the mean time, enjoy February’s Round-Up!

Ground Rules

Participating vehicles will be based on the lease rates gathered on this website during the corresponding month.
36-month/15k lease terms will used for all calculations unless a better term is available.
A $1500 drive-off fee is assumed for all cars. Since fees and taxes vary from region to region, your drive-off may vary.
Sale Price estimates will be based on Truecar.com sales data in the Southern California region, so your numbers may vary.
All estimates assume you qualify for the base rate. A minimum FICO® Score of 700 may be required.
Sales taxes are not included since different states handle taxes differently. Please refer to “Understanding Sales Tax” to learn how taxes affect your monthly payments.
The rating system used is based on RIDE with G’s Lease Calculator. The closer you are to the 100 rating, the better the deal. Anything exceeding a 100 rating is phenomenal.

Top Ten Finalists

First – 2011 Nissan Sentra SR (116.1)

Seems like the Civic and the Sentra have been trading places these last few months, so no surprise here. The Sentra is a better deal as a purchase right now since there are some rebates that aren’t available to leases.

Second – 2011 Mazda3s Hatchback (114.5)

Sometimes I wish I could get my hands on Mazda numbers more consistently. If I did, we would see a 3-way competition between Mazda, Nissan and Honda to see which dominates the Monthly Round-Up.

Third – 2011 Honda Civic LX Sedan (114.4)

Numbers took a dive this month because sale prices have gone up. Further proof that you can’t just rely on residual and money factors alone.

Fourth – 2011 Nissan Altima S Sedan (104.1)

Since the Accord isn’t looking as good this month due to a higher sale price, the Altima makes for a good substitute.

Fifth – 2011 Infiniti G37 Sport Coupe (103.2)

If you are shopping for luxury sport coupes and don’t want to spend much money, this is your ride.

Sixth – 2011 Infiniti G37 Sport Sedan (103.0)

Do you see a pattern? This is the most bang for the buck when it comes to luxury sport sedans.

Seventh – 2011 Honda Accord CrossTour EX (101.4)

Car is getting discounted quite a bit this month. Surprising for a 2011 model.

Eighth – 2011 Infiniti G25 Journey Sedan (100.7)

A sensible choice for those seeking reasonable fuel economy and performance.

Ninth – 2011 Infiniti M37 AWD (98.2)

If I am ever willing to pay upwards of $500+ a month, this would be the ride I’d get.

Tenth – 2011 Honda Accord LX Sedan (97.5)

Dropped quite a bit, but mainly due to a higher sale. Nothing extra haggling with your dealer can’t fix.

Parting Shots

If you didn’t notice, the bulk of the Top Ten List are Nissan made. This says a lot since the days of German cars being “great leases” is officially over. Nowadays, they are just good, not great. With BMW and Audi looking disinterested in providing any sort of “deal” to consumers.

On another note, I didn’t think I would see the day when a Volvo would “Miss the Cut”, but that day has arrived in the form of a S60 T6, which is on clearance due to the incoming 2012 model.

Lastly, many models received a price bump so payments may have gone up (or down) slightly. However, the overall feeling I am getting is that February is still a slightly better month than January. Expect bigger changes in March.

2011-12 Volvo Lease Rates – February 2011

There has been a slight improvement with Volvos this month! Here’s the skinny…The 2011 S60s have $2000 dealer cash, and the 2011 S80s have $1000 dealer cash. There is also $1000 loyalty cash available on all vehicles towards leases. The Volvo base acquisition fee is $695.

The 2011 S60 looks like a winner this month. It has a solid residual and an acceptable money factor. The discounts are deep since the 2012 model is already out. Without factoring the loyalty cash, I am already getting a 91.4 rating. This would make the S60 the first Volvo to get an honorable mention on this month’s Round Up. Talk about historic! 2011 Volvo Lease Rates – December 2010

My Take: Like everyone else, Volvo has also extended their lease rates for the remainder of the year. Not a good thing since their lease rates were somewhat lackluster. This also means that the Costco Auto’s promotion is still in effect, which helps out a little bit. Volvos are really meant to be purchased, not leased right now and the lease rates seems to prove that conclusion. Either way, I am really warming up to the cars, but the lease rates need some help.

2011 Volvo Lease Rates – November 2010

My Take: Sadly, last month’s Volvo numbers remain for the month of November. Not even Costco Auto’s promotion can save it from being a great deal, unless you decide to buy. Buying isn’t a bad thing, but I also know that you didn’t scour the internet to end up in a leasing website and have it’s owner tell you to buy. I’m just telling it like it is though. When lease rates stink and you won’t settle for anything else, you have to see what kind of deal you can get on a purchase instead. Not all is lost though, the S80 isn’t too bad of a deal and could qualify for a “Lease-to-Buy” if the sale price is right. Then you can add on the $500 Costco card for extra savings.

2011 Volvo Lease Rates – October 2010

My Take: Rman850r comes through yet again with some Volvo numbers for this month. There is $500 loyalty cash on all 2011 Volvos plus an additional $500 in dealer cash on the S80, C70, and C30 which can be combined with leases. Certainly not the best looking numbers in the industry, bit I’ve seen worse. Volvo really needs to drop that money factor down by a good 0.001 points in order to get more leases going. The products have been improved and they are actually more desirable now, but as a lease it’s not working too well. Alternatively, it looks more attractive since you could BUY a Volvo by financing it at 2.9% financing over 72 months, which isn’t half bad. But a straight up cash purchase would be a wiser move.

On a different note, I LOVED the XC60 when I saw it at the OC Auto Show. It’s so stylish and the interior quality is superb. Light years away from what they used to be less than 10 years ago. From the outside, it looks sleek and stylish. From the inside, it’s spacious, comfortable, modern and ergonomic; what a true crossover SUV should be. It isn’t overly luxurious, but it isn’t cheap either; maybe comparable to current BMW interiors.

My Take: Thanks again to Rman850r and the folks over at North Point Volvo in Alpharetta, GA for sharing the Volvo numbers for the month of September. XC60 numbers should be coming at a later date, so please stay tuned. As you can see, the rates are not exactly very attractive this month, but there is dealer cash available (special financing is also available, but you cannot combine the two) to help offset some of the costs. Still, not the strongest of leases if you ask me.
