October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 VW Jetta, Acura RDX and Toyota Prius

My Take: Couple of things…the Prius lesses well because of the high residual value, but the money factor is pretty high in my opinion. Lower than Honda’s standard lease rate, but high nonetheless, so watch out for that. The RDX looks like it needs further money factor reduction to make it more attractive. It isn’t horrible, but I the lower residual value doesn’t help keep the costs down. Lastly, the Jetta TDI (for those who live in states that have them) seems like an excellent lease with a .00148 mf and fairly high residual values. Remember to lease it for no more than 36 months because VW’s Warranty is only 3 years.

August 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Acura RDX

My Take: Word has it that AHFC is offering $2500 rebate on their RDX leases now. Not a bad time to jump into an RDX right about now. Even Edmund’s TMV is showing at least $1000 under invoice sale prices. Personally I would shoot for invoice minus the $2500 rebate. That would make for a sweet deal. I’ll be looking at the base RDX since it holds a higher residual value than the Tech.

  • RDX (w/o Tech)
  • MSRP $31,455 ($33,955 – $2500)
  • Invoice $28,765 ($31,265 – $2500)
  • Standard inception fees + tax
  • Lease rate in BOLD

36mo Payment: $416 at invoice, $495 at MSRP

Remember, if you end up paying around $31455, the dealer pretty much leased you the car without a discount on their end. Always get the dealer to pitch in some discounts because rebates are not from the dealer, they are from the manufacturer. You want to get a little love from both parties here. Dealers may represent the manufacturer, but they are independently owned and operated. TMV is showing around $29,422 in Southern California.
