2010 Honda Odyssey Lease Rates – October 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: Not much to say about the Odyssey. The numbers look so-so, but expect the lower end models without RES and NAV to have better residual (and a lower price tag). Personally, I’d rather drive a SUV than a mini-van. However, if I ever decided to open up an airport shuttling business, the Odyssey would be my minivan of choice.

09 Honda Accord, Odyssey Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: It’s rather funny how most people associate “high resale value” with all of Honda’s cars when in reality, only a select few retain their value well. Take the Odyssey for example, this is probably the best minivan on the road, yet its residual value is a paltry 46% after 36 months. Lease residual values may poor guestimates of real resale value, but there is still some truth to them (In most cases, resale are that much better while trade-in values are much worse). The only two rides that hold value exceptionally well are the Civic and the Accord, since they are fairly inexpensive and highly sought after. Normally, I would take the time to calculate the payment estimates for these two rides, but with the money factors this high, I would recommend that you look into a purchase instead of a lease.

October 2008 Lease Rates for 08/09 FX50, IS350, Odyssey, Impreza WRX and ML350

My Take: One word sums this bunch…UNINSPIRING. Residuals are mediocre to pathetic, while the money factor is WAY too high. I’m just bundling these lease rates together since it’s pointless to analyze the numbers. After looking at lease rates monthly for six months (yes folks! RIDE with G is six months old!!! WOOT!) I can pretty much tell whats worth the time and what’s not. It’s a shame too since I really like the FX50 and the IS350.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Honda Odyssey

My Take: No deals here on the Odyssey. You may be able to get a decent sale price, but you won’t get any help in the residual/mf department. As with most Hondas, watch out for the models with RES. The residual values drop significantly, which will make your payments jump.

June 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Honda Odyssey

Odyssey EX-L
36mo/12k – money factor .00077 – residual 56%
36mo/15k – money factor .00077 – residual 54%

Odyssey Touring
36mo/12k – money factor .00077 – residual 54%
36mo/15k – money factor .00077 – residual 52%

My Take: As I type this, the Odyssey commercial is on TV. How funny. Anyway, the Odyssey is by far the best minivan on the market. That is my personal opinion of course. I think the money factor is excellent right now and the residual, like all Honda’s is very good. Look to net a nice EX-L model for under $400 a month and $1000 or less at signing. If you need a family hauler and don’t want to resort to the Yukon and its “excellent” MPG, the Odyssey is worth your attention.

Honda Nationwide Lease Deals. Expires 4/30/08

I make it a morning ritual to visit all the car websites I have bookmarked to see what’s going on in the out automotive world. In this case, Autonation is reminding us about the Honda Spring Sales Event, you know, those commercials with the guy that pulls up his truck at a wedding, or while two people are camping, etc…So I quickly browse through the list of “incentives” for the whole entire Honda line up. Some look promising, others not so much. I’ll briefly mention the ones I think are worth “looking” into. Keep a couple of things in mind though, read the fine print. You CAN get better rates, so you CAN get a better deal than advertised. I don’t have the “connections” with Honda dealers, so I won’t be able to provide you with MFs. However, the residuals are fairly easy to figure out when you read the fine print.

2008 Odyssey LX Featured Special Lease
$259.00 per month for 36 months. $2,499.00 total due at signing.

2008 Pilot 4WD VP Featured Standard Lease
$279.00 per month for 36 months. $2,999.00 total due at signing.

2008 Ridgeline RT Featured Special Lease
$269.00 per month for 36 months. $1,999.00 total due at signing.

2008 Ridgeline RTX Featured Special Lease
$279.00 per month for 36 months. $1,999.00 total due at signing.

Based on these “general” incentives, I would say that if you can keep the monthly payment the same and keep the drive-off at or below $999, you got yourself a fairly decent deal. Go below that then maybe you should be writing my blog. Haahaa.
