July 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Nissan Altima

2008 Nissan Altima S Sedan
24 Month – Residual 64% of MSRP – .00087 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 55% of MSRP – .00087 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take The Altima’s 24-36mo leases are looking pretty decent right now. Remember that your residual value jump 2% from the posted numbers if you choose to go with the 12k mile yearly allowance instead of the 15k, which can save you substantial amounts of cash.

2009 Nissan Maxima S
24 Month – Residual 70% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 59% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 48% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate

2009 Nissan Maxima SV

My Take: Since the Maxima is all-new for the 2009 model year, don’t expect the lease rates to be low right now. I would give it a few months and see if they improve. I think there are other better alternatives on the road right now, like the Altima.

July 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Nissan Murano

2009 Nissan Murano S 2WD
24 Month – Residual 67% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 57% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 45% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 39% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate

2009 Nissan Murano SL 2WD
24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 52% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 41% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 36% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate

My Take: The Murano is arguably the best crossover on the market right now. (according to C&D) This speaks volumes about the improvements Nissan has gone through over the past decade. 10 years ago, I would have never even considered a Nissan, not I’m driving one. Sure, the are still some quality issues, but we know the folks in Japan are paying attention…unlike what GM and Ford have been doing for the past decade or two. I think Nissan knows this too, just look at the MF. The residuals aren’t too bad though.

June 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Nissan Rogue

48 Month – Residual 44% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 37% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

2008 Nissan Rogue S 4WD
24 Month – Residual 72% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 59% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 48% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 40% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

2008 Nissan Rogue SL 4WD
24 Month – Residual 68% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 56% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 45% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 38% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: No lease support here. Maybe July will be a better month. Personally, I think the Rogue isn’t a very attractive mini-crossover. The Infiniti EX is it’s “better looking” and more expensive cousin, worth the upgrade if you can afford to.

June 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Nissan Murano

Nissan Murano S AWD
24 Month – Residual 70% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 48% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

Nissan Murano SL AWD
24 Month – Residual 64% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 54% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 44% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

Nissan Murano LE AWD
24 Month – Residual 61% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 51% of MSRP – .00240 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 42% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Not the best time to lease a Murano right now due to the lack of lease support from Nissan. The residuals are fairly high, which is great, however, the money factors are pretty high too. Expect monthly payments in the $450-$550 range assuming a $35,000 price tag.

June 2008 Lease Rate for 2008 Nissan Altima

2008 Nissan Altima SL Sedan
24 Month – Residual 69% of MSRP – .00087 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00087 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 44% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 37% of MSRP – .00260 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Suprisingly Enough, the Altima has become a strong contender against the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. Strong residuals and money factors make this vehicle a pretty good lease. Funny how the Altima was originally slated to be one class below the midsized family sedan. Now, it has effectively squeezed the Maxima out and made itself comfortable in that segment.

HOT! 2010 Nissan 370Z

Sure, the 2010 Nissan 370z is still at least 1 year away from reaching out shores. However, if you love cars, like me, you probably already know what this means for those who can’t afford a GT-R. For those who don’t know (or care), there are two things to note regarding the new Z.

First, it is pretty much official that the new Z will carry my G37’s 3.7-liter V6 (hence the name change from 350Z to 370Z). This matters because the engine is already pretty quick for the G37 which is a HEAVY car for a coupe. Imagine losing 2 rear seats, going shorter and wider and losing hundreds of pounds in the process? Yes! The Z will be leaner, lighter and more muscular than the current model. Nissan might effectively steal away Mazda’s “Zoom Zoom” slogan if they keep producing cars like this.

Second, the rumor is that the GT-R’s yummy dual-clutch transmission will trickle down to the Z. 7-speed folks! SEVEN! The G37 can go 0-60 is about 5.5 sec (i think). Imagine what a lighter 7-speed dual-clutch transmission will do for the 370Z!!! Sure this is probably the most impractical vehicle around, but you wouldn’t get this as your daily driver anyway.

Styling-wise, I think it needs a little work…I don’t like the headlights…reminds me of the ugly Maxima. I am willing to overlook that if they deliver on the dual-clutch transmission though.

Edmunds Forecasts April Auto Sales

Gotta love Edmunds. They are my primary source for invoice pricing whenever I shop around. It is very educational, if you want to spend all day reading all the information they provide, its well worth the time. Anyway, here’s a story that popped up yesterday on Businesswire regarding April Auto Sales forecast.

If you read the article and pull up the numbers up, you’ll notice that only Toyota, Honda and Nissan experienced growth in the month of April, compared to the same month last year. Now I don’t read too much into Nissan’s double digit growth since the bar was set rather low due to poor sales last April. I’m actually more surprised with Honda and Toyota’s achievements, even modest gains at their level is a great accomplishment.

In any case, this only mean a couple of things; American automakers keep on losing ground to the Japanese, and they still don’t get it. With crummy lease incentives and rates, I’m sure most people who want lease, still opt for imports.
