logo_benz My Take: With the exception of the ML550, the rest of the lineup’s lease rates are not bad if you are considering a lease-to-buy. As you all know, the best deals are those cars that have low money factors, high residual values and some rebates or hefty dealer discounts. For the MLs, I would probably opt for the ML320 Bluetech if I wanted to lease-and-return. If I wanted a lease-to-buy, I would opt for the ML350 4matic because of the slightly higher residual and low money factor. The ML63 isn’t bad either if you have the cash for it.

09 Mercedes Benz ML, R Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_benz My Take: Alright everyone, this is the last set of lease rates I have for now. I will in the Bay Area this weekend so my ability respond to your questions will be limited. I will post more rates if any of them show up between now and Friday, but until then, I hope what we currently have will hold you guys over until I return.

Before I leave for the long weekend, I want to leave you all with a few thoughts for the month of May. Mercedes Benz is having some SERIOUSLY attractive leases right now. I have been hammering about the C350 (over the C300) for about 3 months now and I will continue to do so until I see the numbers get worse. I would get a C350 myself if I could get someone to assume my lease on the G37, but is unlikely to happen any time soon. I don’t know how much longer MB Financial will keep things up, so in on it while the getting is good. Also look into the CLK since it will be discontinued; Probably due to the fact that the E-Class will also come in coupe form. The 2010 E-Class is currently being unveiled from dealership to dealership across the US. As a matter of fact, they are unveiling it tomorrow night at the Mercedes Benz of Long Beach from 5pm to 8pm. If you are in the area, stop by and check it out. I will try to make if I can find the time. If you go, be sure to chat with our Dealerplace contact, Aaron McCroskey. He’s a good guy and will answer all your questions regarding MB cars. If you in the market for a BMW and you are also in So Cal, be sure to speak with Dave Persaud, he’s a good guy too. Lastly, Michael Stewart is the guy for all Lexus shoppers in El Paso, Texas and surrounding areas. Very informative and always willing to help. Whether you email or call, I am positive they will offer you great service. I’m also working on a couple internet sales guys from Infiniti so I will keep you posted on those.

Now, as for the MLs and the R. Stick with the ML350 4WD since it has the best money factor. You could go with the ML320, but there just aren’t many of those to choose from on most lots. Always make sure you are prepared before talking to your dealer. Have a payment range in mind, a sale price in mind and inquire about all inception fees. If you come prepared, you will make it easier on the dealer as well since they don’t have to go back and forth with you.

09 Mercedes Benz ML Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_benz My Take: The the ML350 and the ML320 are probably the better leases this month. The ML350 has a fairly low residual value, but the money factor is good (not great though). Then you have ML320 which has a much higher residual value and the money factor is still within an acceptable range. The bad news is that this month’s rates are much worse than March 2009’s numbers. The good news is that MB has been fairly competitive in pricing lately, so you should definitely check with a few dealers to see who’s willing to give you the best deal.

09 Mercedes G, GL, ML, R Lease Rates – March 2009

logo_benz My Take: Of the whole lot, I just like the ML320s rates. As I mentioned last month, the ML320 is not exactly available in large volume because it is a diesel. However, I think this car’s lease rates look best compared to the other SUVs and Wagons in Merc’s lineup. This is definitely a “lease to buy” candidate (like most Mercs) and it also cheapest when you lease it at 48 months inteast of 36. There are no cash/rebate incentives on the ML, but there is special 0.9% financing for up to 66 months if you intend to buy the car. Not too bad if you ask me. I think Merc is really willing to drop prices to move cars right now. If you thumb through the forums, you’ll notice JoeBean getting about 3k under invoice on his C350, so keep that in mind when you visit your Merc dealer.

MY TAKE: Here are the remaining Mercedes-Benz Lease Rates that I don’t recommend. Clearly, you can see why. The residual values are either terrible or the money factor is sky high. Then, you have a combination of both crap residuals and crap money factors. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell you why I don’t recommended the following cars. Keep in mind that these recommendations do not reflect my personal feelings towards these rides. I won’t say no to a C63 AMG or a SLK55 AMG. All I am saying is that if you plan on getting into any of these rides, buy them, don’t lease them.

09 Mercedez-Benz Lease Rates for December 2008

My Take: You probably want to stick with the C, CLK, CLS, E (MAYBE), GL and ML classes this month. Everything else seems like it will cost you far more than you should be paying. The models previously mentioned enjoy a fairly low money factor and a decent residual value. You probably want to opt for the 12k mile leases and maybe extend the lease to 48 month. Unlike BMW, Mercedes Benz seem to lease better in the 36-month and 48-month terms. With Warranty covering up to 48 months, you should be taken cared of in case something happens to your Benzo. Now the question is, do you really want to drive the same car 4 straight years? Personally, I have leased both 36-month and 48-month leases and I find that 48 month leases just a tad “too long”. In 4 years, I tend to find way too many flaws in one car and I end up not enjoying the latter part of my lease. Of course, it if works out in the budget, 48 month isn’t too bad, just keep your miles low (lower than your contracted allowance) and you can probably end your lease in advance by trading it in, you might even get some money back.

My Take: Despite the fact that MB’s generally don’t lease all that well, there are a few “promising” deal worth looking into. I’ve filtered out the crummy leases and listed the “better” ones below. By Mercedes Benz standards, these numbers look pretty decent, but they do fall a bit short compared to BMW, Lexus and Infiniti leases. Of course, MB fans will be quick to point out that nothing else gives you as sense of prestige than having a 3-pointed star on your hood/grill. That is true if you have a very high option of MB. I personally look at cars on a “case-by-case” scenario and my wallet pretty much dictates what I drive. Of course, if money isn’t much of an issue, I wouldn’t mind having a MB in my garage…specially the C63 AMG…*DROOL*. By the way, there shouldn’t really be any reason to pay anywhere close to MSRP for any MB right now. Invoice should be attainable in most markets, heck, I would even shoot for a few thousand under. Doesn’t hurt to ask! By the way, there is some lease cash available on the ML350, so look into that if you are shopping for that SUV.

My Take: One word sums this bunch…UNINSPIRING. Residuals are mediocre to pathetic, while the money factor is WAY too high. I’m just bundling these lease rates together since it’s pointless to analyze the numbers. After looking at lease rates monthly for six months (yes folks! RIDE with G is six months old!!! WOOT!) I can pretty much tell whats worth the time and what’s not. It’s a shame too since I really like the FX50 and the IS350.
