November 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Mercedes Benz Models To Avoid

My Take: Here’s a list of the “bad” 09 Mercedes Benz leases. If you are looking to lease any of the following cars, you may want to rethink that if you are shopping for a deal. Poor residual value and/or high money factors are never a good combination, even if you manage to get the dealer to lease the car at below invoice price. There’s just way too much interest and/or too much depreciation that even cash discounts can’t overcome, so try to avoid the following cars.

My Take: One word sums this bunch…UNINSPIRING. Residuals are mediocre to pathetic, while the money factor is WAY too high. I’m just bundling these lease rates together since it’s pointless to analyze the numbers. After looking at lease rates monthly for six months (yes folks! RIDE with G is six months old!!! WOOT!) I can pretty much tell whats worth the time and what’s not. It’s a shame too since I really like the FX50 and the IS350.

My Take: Slim pickings here for Mercedes-Benz. Of the entire line up, the following four rides seem to have resonable money factors and residual values (actually, all C300s have the same rates, so you can go with either the sport, sport 4matic, lux or lux 4matic). You should be able to get a pretty nice discount on these rides though, so that should make up for it. Invoice or less is what I would personally shoot for. Keep in mind that a 48-month lease may yield lower monthly payments, so that is always an option. Remember, in our current economic environment, they need you more than you need them. Don’t forget to check out THE LIST for this month’s payment rankings.

My Take: Rest of the MB line-up looks pretty bad. There is some lease support on the CLK350, but that’s about it. The rest of lineup boasts really low residual values and higher than average money factors.

My Take: The SLK is not terribly expensive for a $45k car (at base price). Compared to the 09 Audi A5, it is certainly cheaper. You can probably dip a bit below invoice considering the current economic situation. Drop the mileage to 10k or 12k and you will easily drop below $600 per month with your standard inception fees.

My Take: I don’t really understand why Benzos always cost so much. Its not like they are the most reliable cars on the road. Luxurious? Maybe. Looks like those who want that shiny 3-pointed star on their hood will need to pay a premium for it. MB’s 4-year lease seems most attractive, but considering tire replacements and maintenance fees, I’m not so sure lower payments offset the operational costs.

My Take: I have yet to see a “solid” deal on a C-Class since I started this blog. Bone stock, the C300 Sport 4matic already costs nearly $500 a month + inception fees. Better deals can be had elsewhere right now if you ask me. Other sedans to consider are of course the A4, 328i, IS250 or the G35 sedan, soon to be G37 sedan.
