logo_bmw My Take: Same lease rates, different month. As stated before, the numbers look exactly the same as September’s. If you get sick of waiting for me to post the remaining BMW numbers, just head back to the September rates and use those numbers. As always, if anything changes, I will revise the posts.

2010 BMW 6-Series, 7-Series Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_bmw My Take: Nothing too exciting to announce here. 2010 6-series is unchanged from last month. 2010 7-series is as aweful as usual. 2009 are looking a bit better still. Just remember not to wait too long; As we enter the 2010 model year, 2009 selection dwindles and leases become less attractive due to the lower residual value. Feel free to pass on both of these vehicles this month, but keep a watchful eye on the 2009.

09 BMW Z4, 6-Series, 7-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmw My Take: Rounding off the BMW lease rates, the Z4, 6-series and 7-series all have pretty decent leases rates in my opinion. Nothing that would want me to add them to the list, though. These cars have high enough residuals (except for the 7-series, which has low money factors) that putting down some MSDs should help lower the over monthly payment on the lease. If you don’t know what MSDs are, please raise your hand. Now here’s an email I got from Jake some weeks ago explaining why MSDs are a good thing:

“Hi G
I just to let you know I turned on my brother to your site. He was going to put $3k plus fees down to help with cap cost (lower) payment, but after seeing your site he put 8 MSDs to buy down the money factor. Fast forward 3 months, his X5 is gone (crash); he’s fine; INS. Gap, etc. takes care of it all. He saved a few grand just by reading your site. From the whole “M” famly THANKS for the info.”

There you have it folks, go with MSDs if the money factor is too high. Surprisingly enough, most people opt for cap reduction, which is just plain silly. So before you decide to put money down, ask your dealer if the bank allows you to buy down the money factor. You just might be glad you did.

logo_bmw My Take: Don’t know what to say about the 2010 Sixes. Residual is not bad for the most part, but the money factor needs work. The better option is still to buy them because you pay less in interest overall (3.9% vs 4.8%). Not an astronomical difference, but you are talking about a $80k+ car here.

09/10 BMW 6-Series Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_bmw My Take: The 6-series for both 2009 and 2010 are pretty decent leases right now simply because the residual values are pretty high. You can probably drop them down a bit by using MSDs instead of cap cost reduction so be sure to opt for that instead. Another thing I want to stress, make sure you PAY off your inception fees INCLUDING the Acquisition fee. Many times, the Acquisition fee is rolled into the lease loan. Not a good idea since that is probably the largest of all inception fees. So you will be paying taxes AND interest on the largest fee of the bunch. Bad idea. Ask the dealer to identify all your inception fees, have him/her total them including applicable taxes and cut a check for that. As far as which one I would lease, I would probably opt for a 2009 model even if the money factor on the 2010 is only .00010 more than the 2009. I think the 2010 will have a higher base price anyway, so you might as well stick with the 09s since the residuals are practically identical.

09 BMW 6-Series, 7-Series, M6 Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_bmw My Take: M6 rates are looking much better than the 6-series while the 7-series is not looking all that great this month. I’m not really in the mood to post lease estimates right now, so feel free to request a quick calculation if you really need one. There is 0.9% financing on the 650s and the M6 for up to 60 months. Nothing for the 7-series. No cash, nada.

09 BMW 6-Series Lease Rates – March 2009

logo_bmw My Take: The 6-series and M6 were better last month prior to the mid-month revision. Still not a terrible lease because of fairly high money factor, but I find it difficult to pay upwards of 4.5% interest on a car with this price tag. There is $3000 in conquest cash and another $3000 in loyalty cash available to the consumer. The loyalty cash is available to current AND returning BMW customers, so you don’t necessarily have to be leasing a BMW right now to qualify. 0.9% is financing is also available (the better choice in this case) for up to 60 months.

BMW Revises Lease Rates for February 2009

My Take: In an unusual move. BMW revised some of their lease rates for February. I haven’t really gotten around to look through everything in detail, but at first glance, the 3-series seems to have gotten hit with a higher money factor. OUCH! This is rather unexpected since most lease rates change from month to month, not twice in a month. This does put a damper on the hopes that the next few months will bring better rates. Hopefully some of you were able to jump in on the lower rates.

Anyway, my laptop died tonight, so I will not be able to address any questions you may have until tomorrow night or Friday.
