2010/11 Honda Lease Rates – July 2010

logo_hondaUpdate: Accords got a dropped across the board in residual value by about 2% compared to June. The money factor also dropped to compensate. I believe there is some cash available to help lower the payments further. Solid ride, duarable, plenty of space. I wouldn’t get one, but that’s a personal thing. I find Accords don’t fit my “fun-to-drive, great to look at” requirement. It does fit the “great lease program, practical” requirement though.

Civics dropped in residual and the MF stayed the same. Not good, but there is cash available until September.

CRV residual drops 1% but MF drops significantly from last month. Good stuff.

Don’t have much of a comment regarding the Pilot. MF too high and Res is too low for me to care.

2010/2011 Honda Lease Rates – May 2010

logo_hondaMy Take: Some of the lease incentives are still in place for the month of May so make sure you factor that into your calculations. I think there are some good deals to be had here, so call your dealer and get a sale price quote and crunch your own numbers to see if it comes close to theirs. My sister is looking to lease a family hauler, so I might recommend the Odyssey to her since the numbers look pretty good and there is $1500 in cash available.

Turning In the 2007 Acura TSX

Last month, I had my scheduled turn-in inspection with a  company called SGS Automotive Services. They sent an inspector out to my office (I pre-scheduled this in late March)  and he did a very thorough inspection of my wife’s 2007 Acura TSX, which we returned last night.

As I watched the inspector do his thing, I noticed he inspected many things, including (but not limited to) tire threading, paint thickness, interior/exterior damage, engine, under carriage, rims, air conditioning and electronics, etc… He spent a good 30+ minutes looking through everything, taking pictures, testing equipment and so on.

At the end of the inspection, he printed out a report that details the damages. Our bill came out to $472.50. There were a lot of chips on the front bumper, fenders and hood that were very noticeable. This was attributed to my wife’s three-year commute on the 710 freeway in Southern California. For those who aren’t familiar with the 710, this freeway begins at Port of Long Beach which is where every other vehicle is truck carrying cargo from the port. This means flying debris hitting you at 70+ mph at any given time.

As for the damages, AHFC waived those charges because the lease covers up to $1500 in damages.  That is great news because there aren’t many banks that offer such a high damage waiver.  Honda/Acura is, by far, one of the best (if not the best) lease programs around. Not only are the cars well made, they also do not cost too much to maintain. The overall cost of leasing the TSX for three years involved bi-annual oil changes of $25 per oil change, tire rotations, wiper changes, air filters and one major brake repair that involved resurfacing rotors and replacement of brake pads (around $700 over three years). I rotated the tires every oil change, which wore the tires evenly over the 36,000 mile lease. This proved invaluable since I didn’t have to replace them at lease end. To top things off, all maintenance and repairs were done at Firestone and/or  Midas, not at the dealers, which saved me money.

Overall, the return and inspection process was painless. A few phone calls here and there, then take your car to any Acura/Honda dealer (although the Honda guys may question why you are turning in your Acura into a Honda dealer, rest assured that you can, if you finance through AHFC). Having a large network of dealers is a HUGE bonus since Honda dealers are all over the place. Just make sure you call the bank and let them know when and where you dropped off the car. Then call your insurance to take that vehicle off the next day and you are done.

2010 Honda Accord, Crosstour, Insight, Odyssey Lease Rates – March 2010

logo_hondaMy Take: Honda is currently providing 0.00127 money factor for those of you who opt for a  “Sign and Drive” (Acura is doing the same).  That’s good since it saves you some money and requires nothing out of pocket. When it comes to leasing, it is preferred to avoid putting money down because in the event of a “total-loss” accident or theft, you may not get back the money you’ve put down. There was very good discussion last month in the forums regarding this topic, be sure to read about it. In any case, the numbers look solid so don’t miss out.

On a side note, I did check out the Crosstour last month and came away with mixed feelings. It is a pretty big car, it looks better from the front than from the back. I didn’t get to drive it, but my guess is that it won’t drive too different from an Accord V6. Here’s a payment scenerio in case you were curious as to how much it would cost to lease one of these…

MSRP $34,730
Invoice $31,527
Payments $377 + tax with inception fees due at signing (estimated at around $1500).
Sign & Drive $416 + tax

This is assuming 36mo/36k miles and the car being sold at invoice.

FYI – Just a reminder that if you opt for the “Sign & Drive”, your MF drops 0.00010. This seems to be the case across the board, with almost all models. I’m sure HondaHarry can confirm this. There are also rebates to be had so make sure to check Edmunds or ask your local dealer for more information.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! As you all know, I will be going on vacation tonight and I will not be returning until the weekend of the 16th. This means that there will not be posting any lease rates until I return. I know you will miss having all the information all on one website, but don’t feel bad, you can still find it floating around the web. In any case, remember that the price tags for practically ALL BMWs are going up starting January 1st, so today IS your last day to snap up 2010 models for a lower price tag. The lease cash is still available on all BMWs right now so don’t sleep on this.

Other notable promotions that will also end come January 4th:

  • Lexus December to Remember (No idea what the deal is here)
  • VW (Sign-then-drive, waiving 1st monthly payment)
  • Audi (waiving security deposit)
  • Mazda (Sign-and-drive)
  • Infiniti (Limited Winter Engagement; really attactive lease numbers for the G37. 2010 G37s are coming next month, so the deal could be extended OR become less attractive)
  • Honda (Happy Honda Days; for the most part, the lease rates are pretty good on the more popular models like the Accord)
  • Toyota (Camry is a REALLY good deal right now)
  • Acura (The $1500 and $2000 rebates will probably disappear come January 5th on the TSX V6 with and without Tech).

Now before I head out, there will be some temporary changes that I plan to implement starting today.

  1. New users cannot register in the forums. During my absence, I will be disabling the new user registration approving new users MANUALLY because I’ve been slammed with spammers these past couple weeks and I do not want to come back to a bunch of spammers peddling their viagra, cyalis, ringtones or webcam girls. Since I won’t be able to moderate the forums on a daily basis I felt this was the best option while I am away. New users will be approved upon my return.
  2. Current users will still have access to the forums. This means if you have already registered, you can post as you please.
  3. You may use this blog post as your general Q&A post. Since the blog part of the site handles spam much better than the forums, you may ask your questions here if you like. Just remember that using certain explicit language or hyper linking to other websites will get your comments flag as spam, so it would have to be approved manually.

That is all folks! Enjoy the New Year, hopefully we get some really good lease rates this year (I know I need it because my TSX has about 4 payments left).

See you all when I get back!

G
