My Take: The vehicle enjoying the lowest MF on this list is the R350. The rich (wo)man’s station wagon, as I like to call it. These MB’s residual value are rather low overall, so they are hardly a bargain.
My Take: The GL450 is probably the better deal of the 3 trims. As a matter of fact, I think I’ll be putting it in THE LIST since it’s money factor is fairly low and the residual value is workable. I think that invoice price can be attained in regions with decent competition since cars at this price have a good profit margin. I wouldn’t be surprised if you could dip slightly below invoice. Just don’t forget to negotiate the sale price of the vehicle instead of the payments. If your dealer starts off talking payments with you, quickly switch the subject to the sale price/cap cost of the vehicle. That is the one and only place where you can significantly decrease your monthly payments.
