Feeling the Pinch at the Pump

A picture says a thousand words, so just look below:

That was this morning…talk about rude awakening…

I actually used the Gas Price Locator to find the cheaper gas station around my work. It was pretty accurate, $4.65 for Premium (91). That’s surprising since I’ve seen this gas station change prices three times in one day!

Word of caution: if you do a lot of city driving and are looking to lease an Infiniti G37…I’m getting 17.5 miles to the gallon on Premium fuel. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

This freaking hurts…lucky for me, it only hurts about twice a month.

RIDE Gets New Look and Other News

I’ve been planning the new look for some time now. I’m hoping most of you find it a bit more simplified compared to that last version. Some of the pages are set to change and new features will be coming…soon, hopefully.

In other news, gas prices are at an all-time high, my wife paid over $60 ($4.53 for regular) to fill up about 14 gallons worth of gas. Pretty depressing isn’t it? Lucky for me, I work around 5 miles from work so I don’t have to fill up as often, however, every time I do fill up, OUCH!!! Over the weekend, I picked up a bicycle and took a trip to work and back. I’m looking at a 40 minute (each way) trip at a moderate cruising speed. I can’t see myself doing this more than twice a week though, otherwise, it defeats the purpose of leasing a G37.

I have found a boat load of lease rates, they are coming, so hang in there a bit longer. I will get those out to the masses as soon as I can. Anyway, please let me know what you think of the new look.

Thanks!

VIDEO: Great Fuel Saving Tips!

This is a great video made by the folks at MyRide.com. It contains excellent fuel saving tips, so it’s worth checking. However, if you are too lazy to bother, I’ll summarize:

  • Keep your car maintained properly. Tire pressure, oil changes, filters, etc…
  • Don’t drive too fast (keep it under 60).
  • Stop-n-Go driving burns through gas faster than you can say “Chevron”.

That’s pretty much the gist of it. As I mentioned last month, $4+ gas will be the norm by Memorial weekend so get used to it. Oil companies still have no shame and I hope you got some of those stocks in your portfolio.

Lastly, I got a couple of things to add to the list:

  • If you commute daily, try to work from home once a week. That should save you about a weeks worth of gas per month.
  • I love torque and acceleration as much as the next guy, but sometimes, you just need to know that racing from one stop sign to the next does not make you cool, it makes you stupid.
  • Get a new job thats closer to home. My wife works about 22 miles from home, in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. She commutes 5 times a week, not to mention visiting clients and what not. I’ve been harassing her about for some time now and I know its not easy, but you better start looking if you want to save some green.
