Ground Rules

  • Participating vehicles will be based on the lease rates gathered on this website during the corresponding month.
  • 36-month/15k lease terms will used for all calculations unless a better term is available.
  • A $1500 drive-off fee is assumed for all cars. Since fees and taxes vary from region to region, your drive-off may vary.

  • All estimates assume you qualify for the base rate. A minimum Credit Score of 700 may be required to secure Top Tier credit in most cases.

Bright Spots

VW. The only model to make it into the lease was the CC Sport, thanks in part to the generous $1250 lease cash that’s available. The rest of the models make better purchases than leases due to special financing. Eos also gets the $1000 lease cash, but the lease is only so-so, rated at 85.5 on my calculator.

Mercedes-Benz. Being an existing MB customer is really paying off this Holiday season. The $2000 loyalty cash is huge! Another model to keep your eyes on is the GLK350 4matic. The RWG is not high (87.5), but this SUV has never leased in with a RWG higher than 90 to begin with, so 87.5 is not too shabby. Remember that MBs payments are usually a bit more budget friendly on the 48-month terms. However, wear-n-tear issues should be considering before going that route.

Volvo. The C30 and C70 cut it pretty darn close (both hitting a RWG of 89). This is made possible by a generous $1000 loyalty cash that’s available to existing Volvo customers. Overall, I’m very satisfied with Volvo’s leases on their cars. Their SUVs, on the other hand, need a little work.

BMW. BMWFS seems to be throwing a lot of loyalty cash at their customers. On select 1-series models for example, they also have this $500 lease/apr bonus cash which I think could be applied to lower the MF plus $1000 in loyalty cash.

Weak Spots

Audi. They have not offer any worthwhile leases lately. No shock there, it’s been a while since Audi made it into the Round-Up.

In Summary

It’s Loyalty month here in the auto leasing world. Many manufacturers are rewarding loyal customers with loads of cash. Folks looking to get into something under $400 should consider the Sonata, Optima, Maxima or any non-luxury car. Honda almost seems to be giving away their cars right now so it isn’t hard to find a good deal there.

The Leaf is also great if you don’t ever want to visit a gas station again.

In the end, if I had to put my money where my mouth is, I would be rolling in a loaded 2012 Infiniti G37 sedan. Hands down, the best lease I’ve seen all month long.

2012 Infiniti Lease Rates – November 2011

UPDATE! IFS IS THROWING ANOTHER $1000 on top of the $1000 loyalty cash that’s currently available on the G37 sedan. Look below for the updated sample calculation! If you needed a reason to lease a G37 sedan, this would be it. Offer ends 11/30.

Special Thanks to Shappy for the heads up.

Again, in case you missed the big bold print at the end of each post, I don’t take requests. If you don’t see the numbers you are looking for, that means I don’t have it. I know this presents an inconvenience to some of you, but these are the only numbers my contact provides me with.

With that aside, 2012s are the only numbers I have this month and they look quite good. I am always impressed by Infiniti leases because you get so much car for the money. Take the G37 Journey sedan for example; lowest sale price for a 2012 model on Truecar.com is 12% OFF MSRP! If you are an existing IFS customer, add another $1000 in loyalty. Edmunds.com states that there is another $1000 in dealer cash available, but I would be surprised if they part with that. Why? because 12% off MSRP is already near “dealer cost”. If they gave you the loyalty AND the dealer cash, there wouldn’t be much profit on this transaction. Of course, this deal is not nearly as good as the ones on the 2011 model (seen last month), but with production officially over, you’ll be hard pressed to find what you want off the remaining 2011s.

2011-12 Infiniti Lease Rates – October 2011

If you can get a 2011 G37 sedan right now, you can probably lease it for real cheap. I would probably recommend that over the 2012 at the point. Availability is probably going to be an issue, but I certainly would recommend inquiring about any last remaining 2011 before looking into the 2012s.

On a personal note, I really love the M35h. But fully loaded, it’s freakishly expensive (about $780 a month BEFORE tax). Yickes!

There have been a lot of changes across the board with IFS lease rates. 2% to 3% drops in residual, but money factors were adjusted, so expect numbers to be comparable to last month or better. More 2012 models will be rolling out in the coming months so negotiate accordingly.

Sold 2009 Lexus IS250 at CarMax for $2100. Applied $1300 for inception fees. Pocketed $800.

WE LOVE CARMAX!

My TAKE:

Wow Mike, you are a tough act to follow. Not only are you getting a bunch of cash from your trade-ins, but your kids are getting some fancy rides. Love the deal you got at CarMax. They are a lessee’s best friend! Even if you didn’t go below invoice (plus your dealer fee was insane), I think everyone would agree that the lease was still darn good. Congrats. Wishing your daughter lots of luck with that wheat interior…it’s gonna be a tough one to keep clean. I would know. Haahaa.

On another note, your kids got the whole Spy vs Spy things going on. Hilarious! Haahaa.

2013 Infiniti G Coupe

This is probably one of the more exciting news I have read in a LONG time! Even more exciting than Toyota going forward with the FT86 (even if its as a Scion).

Here is the sentence from Road & Track that says it all…

We hear from sources inside Nissan’s design studio that the new G, especially the coupe version, will borrow heavily from the styling of the Essence show car.

Above, you will see the photo of the Essence coupe I took back in 2010’s Los Angeles Auto Show. If at least 50% of the exterior makes to production, I will definitely get another Infiniti in the near future. Now, R&T posted a pic of what the next G37 coupe could look like. I don’t really dig the front fascia, but the rest of the car seems to flow like the Essence, which I really love.

See Road and Track story HERE.

2011-12 Infiniti Lease Rates – August 2011

Some big changes over at IFS this month. Residual values have gone up on all 2011 models. Unusual, but not unheard of. With that move, IFS has also bumped the money factors in order to keep the payments around the same ballpark as previous months. The good news here is that the increase of residual values seems to have more than offset the increase of the money factors.

Below, I have a quick sample calculation of July vs August rates using the same sale price. As you can see, the August lease rates are about $7 lower per month on the G37 Journey Sedan. The bad news is that returning IFS customers won’t have lease cash available to drop payments further. At least for now. According to Shappy, the loyalty cash is still going strong, hurray! See comments below. As I mentioned in this month’s VW post, lease rates and promotions CAN change mid-month, so check back often.

Here is a sample calculation based on TrueCar’s Southern California sale price and do not include local taxes. Please note that your dealer calculations may vary due to local fees/taxes.

  • All estimates assume you qualify for the base rate. A minimum Credit Score of 700 may be required to secure Top Tier credit in most cases.
  • Sales taxes are not included since different states handle taxes differently.
  • The rating system used is based on RIDE with G’s Lease Calculator. Only cars with a 90 rating or higher will be included on this list.

Rare Sight. The Z4 takes top honors this month for being the highest rated lease. However, I caution you when dealing with BMW dealers. It is common practice for dealers to PAD the money factor. BMW also is known for those weird MACO/Training fees that I despise. It is your job to be informed and shop around. There are a lot of great incentives available for returning customers, so do not overlook them! With that in mind, BMW has done a great deal introducing the best lease this month. The number should remain through the month of August so plan accordingly.

Unusual American. I don’t remember the last time an American car made it on the list. What’s even more unusual is the fact that this car is coming from Chrysler. When is the last time you saw a good lease from Chrysler, right? Kudos to US Bank for making the Wrangler an attractive lease. Not sure I would want one since the ride is quite rough, but it should be a budget friendly ride for those looking for some fun under the sun.

The Only Swede That Matters. Sorry Saab, but for us regular folks, the only Swedish brand of any consequence is Volvo. The S80 and C70 are making strong leases this month with great rebates/discounts despite the crummy lease rates.

What Tsunami? While Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura are reeling from the earthquake/tsunami one-two punch, Nissan/Infiniti has been reaping the benefits of having a better supply of cars. This translates to PURE DOMINANCE by Nissan/Infiniti on this month’s Round-Up because they can discount cars a bit more and provide great lease program for them.
