logo_benz My Take: Bummer dudes and dudettes, 2010 E-Class is unleasable right now. I saw a coupe rolling on the freeway this past weekend and I like it! Now if it’s too much for your blood, then I would suggest looking into the 09 E-Class. I’m told there are some really nice purchase incentive going on right now. Also check into the demos, they are heavily discounting those and I believe special financing can be obtained on them as well.

logo_benz My Take: Holy Bad Money Factors Batman! Did you see that? .00347 MF!!! with the lowest being only .00270 on the Luxury E350, E550 and E550 Sport. Residuals are pretty good though, for Benz. My recommendation is to wait it out. The car just came out, so its going to take a few disappointing months for MBZFS to bring things down a bit.

logo_benz My Take: The residual values on the E-Class are questionable at this point, but the money factors look good (0.432% APR on the E350 Sport). That’s literally just a few bucks of interest every month. There is $6000 in dealer cash available for those who finance through MB Financial, so make sure to take that into consideration when you make your offer to your dealer. I think the E350 Sport is an excellent Lease-to-Buy candidate since most of your money is going towards the car instead of the interest. With the 2010 Es rolling into dealerships now, it looks to me that MBZ may start trying to move them.

logo_benz My Take: It has become pretty clear that MB does not want their cars back within 24 months anymore, so their best leases are going for either 36 months or 48. For the E-Class this month, you’ll notice that the 24-month leases have gotten hit with a 2% residual value drop while the 36 and the 48 month rates have stayed pretty much the same as last month. You will also notice a slight increase in the money factor (.00014) for the 4matic sedans. My recommendation would be to do a “Lease-to-Buy” on the E350 Lux or Sport, no money down, just inception fees. Another thing is to keep in mind is that they have redesigned the E-Class for the 2010 model year, I don’t have to tell you what that means.

logo_benz My Take: The E-Class Bluetec, Wagon and AMG models have a DO NOT LEASE recommendation this month due to low residual and high money factors. It doesn’t really come as a surprise since that’s been the case for months now. If you plan to lease, stick with the sedans. Remember, the majority of MBs have extremely low residual values compared to the competition, which is normally a bad thing in the leasing world. The good news is that MB Financial also has the tendency of offering exceptionally low money factors. These conditions make them great candidates for “lease-to-own” because most of your payments go towards the principal of the loan. When it comes time to end the lease, the residual value will be fairly low, making the decision to buy the car at lease-end (should you choose to) an easier one. I will spend some time this month explaining the whole “lease-to-own” concept once I am done posting most of April’s lease rates. Going back to the E-Class, there is $6000 dealer cash available for those who finance through MB Financial. There is also 0.9% financing for up to 66 months! This makes purchasing quite attractive if you think about it. You could pay 0.9% for 66 month and own the car at the end of your loan, OR you could pay 0.432% for 48 months, then make a balloon payment of the remaining 38% of your residual value in order to avoid paying interest. Tough call, I guess it all depends on whether you can afford to pony up that much cash at lease end. Of course, you can simple walk away and hop into another new Benz (ahh, the joys of leasing!). Lastly, the 2010 E-Class should be out soon (complete with brand new square headlights!) so I suspect some good discounts should be attainable on the 2009 model.

logo_benz My Take: The E-Class Mercs are excellent candidates for “Lease To Buy”. They feature a low residual value and a low money factor, meaning most of your payments will be going towards the car, not the interest rate. If you want low upfront payments, reasonable monthly payments and an option to not buy the car at lease end, this car just might be for you. There is a whopping $6000 in dealer cash available and 0.9% financing for up to 66 months for the E350. What’s even cooler is that you can combine both of them. For leasing, there’s $4000 lease cash available from MBF (Remember that for Mercs, you want to go with the 48-month leases for the lowest possible payments) Personally, I really like the E-Class since it’s luxurious, spacious and one of the better luxury family sedans out there.

MY TAKE: Here are the remaining Mercedes-Benz Lease Rates that I don’t recommend. Clearly, you can see why. The residual values are either terrible or the money factor is sky high. Then, you have a combination of both crap residuals and crap money factors. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell you why I don’t recommended the following cars. Keep in mind that these recommendations do not reflect my personal feelings towards these rides. I won’t say no to a C63 AMG or a SLK55 AMG. All I am saying is that if you plan on getting into any of these rides, buy them, don’t lease them.

09 Mercedez-Benz Lease Rates for December 2008

My Take: You probably want to stick with the C, CLK, CLS, E (MAYBE), GL and ML classes this month. Everything else seems like it will cost you far more than you should be paying. The models previously mentioned enjoy a fairly low money factor and a decent residual value. You probably want to opt for the 12k mile leases and maybe extend the lease to 48 month. Unlike BMW, Mercedes Benz seem to lease better in the 36-month and 48-month terms. With Warranty covering up to 48 months, you should be taken cared of in case something happens to your Benzo. Now the question is, do you really want to drive the same car 4 straight years? Personally, I have leased both 36-month and 48-month leases and I find that 48 month leases just a tad “too long”. In 4 years, I tend to find way too many flaws in one car and I end up not enjoying the latter part of my lease. Of course, it if works out in the budget, 48 month isn’t too bad, just keep your miles low (lower than your contracted allowance) and you can probably end your lease in advance by trading it in, you might even get some money back.
