logo_benz My Take: 2010 C-Class remains unchanged since September. I do like the lease rates on these rides, but it all depends on the type of discount you are able to get. I would personally shoot for a nice 10% off the MSRP and see which dealer is willing to swing that. Is it likely? Probably not (invoice might be more likely), but it never hurts to try.

THe CL-Class looks as unappealing as usual, so feel free to give it a pass for the month. Ditto on the CLS.

logo_benz My Take: The remaining 2010 MY Mercedes models are nothing to sing about this month. Low residual, high money factor pretty much puts them out of the auto leasing landscape. What is notable, however, is the presence of a Hybrid in the S-Class lineup. Looks like MB has decided to join Lexus in the luxury Hybrid market. I still wouldn’t lease them though.

UPDATE: CLS models are getting $3000 cash towards a purchase this month.

logo_benz My Take: Close, but no cigar. I don’t like any of these leases this month. The CL550 tries, but falls way short. The rest of the lineup doesn’t even bother to look appealing. At this price, I’d rather have the E550. Speaking which, I love that car. I just don’t have $60k to play around with, otherwise, I’d be rolling in a E-Class coupe right now.

logo_benz My Take: For those wanting a coupe, the CLK will be discontinued in favor of the E-Class sedan and coupe. Right now, it’s a VERY good time to get into a CLK350 or CLK550. The money factor is practically non-existent so all your payments are going straight towards the car’s value and taxes. Remember DrJ and Getpaid? They both got CLKs and they got real sweet deals. Check out April’s comments from DrJ to get an idea about the pricing on the CLKs. Unofficially, I can tell you this…my estimates are $716 per month at invoice, over 48 months/15k per year. There is $6000 dealer cash on this ride…$27 per month = per $1000 borrowed. That’s $162 per month off if you do the math, more if you tack on taxes.

I’m not going to comment too much on the CLS and CL. Suffice to say, the CL is not worth talking about and the CLS550 is actually a decent lease, not great, but acceptable.

logo_benz My Take: Not much of a drastic change for the CL this month. Some residuals went up by 1% and some dropped 1%. A bit weird seeing residuals go up and down like that, but as long as it saves money, I’m all for it. CLKs this month are practically unchanged from April 2009, with the exception of the convertibles. Not sure if the lease deal Dr J got last month is still going on, but I don’t see why they wouldn’t want to move those still on the lot. Check last month’s comments from Dr J as a guide to your own deal on a CLK550 or even a CLK350. CLS rates went up a bit so I wouldn’t feel too bad if you decided to give it pass this month.

logo_benz My Take: Lately I’ve been thinking about the whole lease-to-buy scenario and I have come to believe that certain cars simply should not be bought at the end of the lease. The reason I mention this is because a lot of the cars have dropped in residual value over the past year. If you are considering buying your lease, you may want to look for cars that have a low residual value and a ultra-low money factor. That way, you ensure all the money you pay on your monthly lease payments is going towards paying off the depreciation rather than the interest. That way, when the lease ends, there is very little residual value left on the car and you can pretty much cut them a nice check for the remainder and keep the car. Anyway, the reason I bring this up on a Mercedes Benz post is because Mercs seem to have really lame residual values and really low money factors. Check this out, the CLK550 depreciates 64% and they only charge about 0.192% APR for 48 months (plus you get $6000 dealer cash). Seriously, you think you can secure a loan that cheap if get a purchasing loan? I don’t think so, the lowest APR going on right now for the CLK550 is 0.9% up to 66 months. Granted, that’s still a pretty sweet deal, I’d would still take 0.192% on the lease because unlike buying, there’s always an easy way out after a few year in case the car is giving you some problems. Anyway, something to think about if you are shopping for a Merc. Watch the numbers and figure out what you want to do at least end before you make your final decision.

MY TAKE: Here are the remaining Mercedes-Benz Lease Rates that I don’t recommend. Clearly, you can see why. The residual values are either terrible or the money factor is sky high. Then, you have a combination of both crap residuals and crap money factors. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell you why I don’t recommended the following cars. Keep in mind that these recommendations do not reflect my personal feelings towards these rides. I won’t say no to a C63 AMG or a SLK55 AMG. All I am saying is that if you plan on getting into any of these rides, buy them, don’t lease them.
