2010 BMW 3-Series Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: There still should be 2009 models available for leasing so I would inquire about those first. For the month of September, the coupes are looking mighty fine. Take the 328xi for example, the residual is the highest is will ever be, and the money factor is only about .00145, which translates to about 3.48% APR. Not too shabby if you ask me. You can drop some MSDs to bring it down further if you wish, but personally, I think its fine as is.

I haven’t seen the 2009 numbers, but I will post them if I find them.

2010 BMW 1-Series Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: I’m not very impressed with the 2010 1-series numbers this month. Check out last month’s 2009 numbers and you’ll see why. I’m sure the 2009 September numbers have probably dropped off a little bit, but nothing too significant. Unless you plan to put some money towards Security Deposits, I wouldn’t really recommend the 1-series.

09 BMW Z4, 6-Series, 7-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Rounding off the BMW lease rates, the Z4, 6-series and 7-series all have pretty decent leases rates in my opinion. Nothing that would want me to add them to the list, though. These cars have high enough residuals (except for the 7-series, which has low money factors) that putting down some MSDs should help lower the over monthly payment on the lease. If you don’t know what MSDs are, please raise your hand. Now here’s an email I got from Jake some weeks ago explaining why MSDs are a good thing:

“Hi G
I just to let you know I turned on my brother to your site. He was going to put $3k plus fees down to help with cap cost (lower) payment, but after seeing your site he put 8 MSDs to buy down the money factor. Fast forward 3 months, his X5 is gone (crash); he’s fine; INS. Gap, etc. takes care of it all. He saved a few grand just by reading your site. From the whole “M” famly THANKS for the info.”

There you have it folks, go with MSDs if the money factor is too high. Surprisingly enough, most people opt for cap reduction, which is just plain silly. So before you decide to put money down, ask your dealer if the bank allows you to buy down the money factor. You just might be glad you did.

2010 BMW 5-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: 5-series and M5 lease rates remain unchanged for August, which is pretty good still. I believe the 5-series does qualify for this “pulling ahead” program BMW is doing. I think it is similar to all the lease cash the 3-series is getting right now. If any of you are interested, I’ll ask Dave for more info. I checked on Edmunds and they have the standard “advertised” lease program you see on TV and BMWUSA.

09 BMW 3-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmwUPDATE: $2500 lease cash for 335i, $2000 lease cash for 328i. Special thanks to Smitty for gathering the info. Also, per Dave’s email: “In California, it’s $2,000 lease cash. BMW might offer differently in other states that I wouldn’t know about. Auto transmission credits are still in place through the end of this month.” Dave sent me another email today after double checking the bank sheets; here in CA, the lease cash is $2500 for the 335i and $2000 for the 328i, just like Smitty mentioned. Looks like that isn’t the case up in MA according to Jake. It also looks like MikeO is having problems getting the $2500 on the 335i as well.

My Take: I had a little R&R yesterday, so I apologize if I didn’t get to your emails and questions until today. Had a bday to attend, then had to chores around the house, so overall, busy weekend. Anyway I got a lot of good news for you regarding BMW 3-series, courtesy of Dave Persaud of Long Beach BMW. The lease cash on the 3-series and 5-series got bumped to $2000, instead of $1000. If you have a clunker, you can get $3500 towards either a 1, 3, or X3. So about $5500 right there, which excludes any discounts the dealer gives you. Just remember that the car you get has to have at least 22mpg combined mileage or more. The most noticeable change I’m seeing this month is the MF drop on the 335xi coupe (down from 0.00165 to .00145). The rest is pretty much the same as last month, I think. If you shopping for a car right now and don’t jumping on the 3-series right now, I don’t know what to tell you other than DO IT NOW! Dave’s been giving out REALLY low prices for both leases and purchases, so you really can’t go wrong with a 3 this month.

logo_bmwMy Take: The X3, X5 and X6 lease rates remain unchanged from last month. This means that the X5 and X6 are still pretty good leases right now. A little side note on the X3…the numbers may look pretty bad, but this model does qualify for about $3500 in the “Cash for Clunkers” program, so be sure to look into it if you have a clunker to trade in. The $1750 lease cash is still available on the X5 and X6 this month.

09 BMW 1-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Lease rates for the 1-series remain unchanged from July. The good news is that there is $750 lease cash available on the 128i and the 135i, so that should drop the monthly payments down significantly. Don’t forget the MSDs! That should save you a good chunk of change in the long run. Should you choose to buy instead, the 2.9% for 60 months financing is still available.

August 2009 Announcements

Not a lot to report this month. We’re only 3 days into the month, so don’t expect any lease rates to pop up until sometime late this week or early next. I did get an email requesting information on the Porsche Moments Program. Here’s what I’ve found:

The Porsche Moment Program

I know, not a lot of info, but enough to give you an idea. 08/09 models at 1.9% financing for up to 60 months. Chances are, some seriously decent discounts can be had with the 2008 models.

Moving on…

Infiniti G37 Coupe and M35

David Baker at Cerritos Infiniti is offering his 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey Coupe, Illuminated Kick Plates, Trunk Cargo Net, and Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor. MSRP: $38,035; Invoice: $35,157; TMV: $36,018. The price he is offering RIDE with G peeps: $34,988. This would be the cap cost for a lease. If you plan to buy, I’m guessing he can sweeten the deal that much more. I think July lease rates run through today, so you can estimate your payments using those numbers. It is also possible that these rates may carry over to August. We’ll find out soon enough. Anyway, this is primarily for Southern California residents. Out-of-towners can also work with him if you are willing to make the trip. Contact David for more details. My take on this deal is that it’s low. Much lower than a lot of offers I’ve seen recently. Just look over the G37 July post and you’ll know what I mean.

Another promo they are running is the M35. MSRP = $46,885. Cap Cost = $43,344. 10k lease. 39 months. 589 a month. Excludes taxes and fees. $2999 due at signing. If you are an existing IFS customer, you get the $1000 loyalty cash you can apply to the drive-off. I’m not super fond of this deal however. It needs work, but looks promising based on some comments in the Lease Guide post.

2009 Z4 Deal by Dave

This is more of a reminder than anything. ’09 Z4 $499 a month plus taxes. The lease rates on the Z4 looks pretty solid. I know the drive-off seems like a lot (almost $5k from what I understand). So remember to ask the right questions. MSRP, cap cost, mf, residual and a breakdown of fees. I know the Z4 lease rates are pretty reasonable right now, so a good deal can’t be too far off. Dave’s been good with providing help and good sale prices to RIDE with G readers. Some have already bought/leased from him, so give him a call if you have questions regarding this car or other models. Dave’s contact info can be accessed HERE.

Warning for Floridians

Here is a nice warning from Onequi, one of the early RIDE with G readers…
“A word to the wise: If you are ever interested in leasing/purchasing a vehicle, DO NOT, STAY CLEAR, of Toyota of Hollywood, Fl.! They are clueless about the entire internet buying experience.”

Cash for Clunkers

You really should get on this if you have a clunker that qualifies. Gov’t did approve $2b more for this program, so please take advantage of it while its still available. The money is drying up QUICK! Here’s a sample deal that Onequi sent me last week on his folk’s Honda CRV:

The CRV LX the Price is

$ 19,986.00
$ 599.95 (Dealer fee)
$ 1235.15 (6% tax)
$ 50.00 (Dade county)
$ 180.00 (Approx Transfer tag)
——————
$ 22,051.10
$ 4500.00 Clunker credit
——————
$ 17,551.10 amount financed.

The gov’t program not only took care of all taxes and fees, it also knocked out about $2400 off the final sale price too.

Acura TL

Another reminder about the TL deal I was given a few weeks ago. I’m pretty sure the sale prices still stands for those near So Cal. Here’s the previous post if you need a refresher. I saw one over at Costco over the weekend. Not as ugly as expected, but I have not warmed up to the backside of this car. The toothy-chrome grill is less imposing on a silver exterior. The interior is fairly well appointed and it’s priced fairly aggressively, so it’s worth a look if you are in the market for a luxury sedan.

That is all for now. Again, expect lease rates to start popping up sometime in the 2nd week of this month. Best times to negotiate is probably towards the end of the month, but if you have a good dealer that is willing to give you his best pricing early on, by all means, pull the trigger because waiting too long can sometimes backfire (ie. CLK, C350, to name a few bad reason to wait). Also, don’t forget about loyalty programs that allow you to get off your existing least up to 3 months in advance without penalty. I know IFS is offering that until September, so be sure to factor that program into your calculations should you choose to get into a car this month.
