What He’s Got: 2007 White 550i Sport, 35,000 miles.
What It Cost: $70,000 retail sticker, one owner car. Loaded with Nav, Sport, Comfort access, Cold weather. Perfect condition. Purchased in Feb 2009 as a Certified car for $35,000. Put 10% down, financed 60 months at 4.9% thru a local CU. $640/month to OWN. New warranty until 2/2011 or 50k miles. Free maintenance until 50k miles. (or 2/2011, but I wont get there) CPO warranty goes to 100k miles or 2/2013. Replaced a lease on a 528i…it was a $52k car and leased for $600/month.

My Take:I couldn’t have done better myself. Really, I couldn’t. Haahaa. Here is proof that you should NEVER buyout a BMW 5-series at lease-end since I doubt you can pull off that kind of deal on a 3-yr old 550i once the lease ends. Pretty awesome deal there SpartanGA! I like it! Sometimes, buying CPO just makes more sense, specially if you can live with your car for more than 36 to 48 months.

logo_bmw My Take: The 2010 5-Series ALMOST makes THE LIST this month because the lease rates actually look VERY attractive. Unfortunately, I highly doubt you can even come close to invoice on a car that’s been on the market just a little over a month. If you could, then it would be highly recommended. Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening. BMWs in generally don’t usually hit invoice (or below it) without the help of rebates or cash incentives. No holdback means dealers can’t sell you the car anywhere near their cost. Otherwise, they can’t stay in business. If you are shopping for a “deal” this month, hang in there. I’m looking hard for one. As you can see, THE LIST is rather short because there just aren’t any solid deals to be had this month.

09/10 BMW 5-Series Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_bmw My Take: Alright everyone, here’s the deal on the 5-series. If you plan to lease, go with the 2010 models. The residual stayed the same as May and the money factors have dropped, making it a MUCH better lease than last month. As for the 2009 models, buy them (since you should be able to get good discount on them) because residuals have dropped significantly and money factors have gone up. BMWFS is clearly telling you to go for the 2010 models over the 2009 if you plan on leasing, so make sure to do that or you will overpay. 3.9% financing is also available on the 2010 models, so that’s definitely not a bad thing. logo_bmw My Take: Looks like the 2010 5-series is out for leasing and the good news is that the rates are pretty much the same as the 09s. Keep in mind that there should be a newly redesigned 5-series showing up sometime next year as a 2011 model, so if you are the type that needs to have the latest and greatest, you might want to wait. On the other hand, if the 2011 ends up being ugly, you might want to snap up the 2009 or 2010 model, which I happen to be very fond of. Those shopping for the M5 will notice that nothing’s changed from last month.

logo_bmw My Take: I got a few questions last month regarding the M5 and I wanted to give you guys the news. The money factor stayed the same and the residual value dropped 1% on the 24-month term and stayed the same on the 36-month term. There isn’t any customer cash available this month, but BMWFS is offering 0.9% APR for up to 60 months for those who qualify. If you have considered lease-to-own, you might want to consider buy it. I know it’s going to cost a lot more per month, but you do get to keep the car, which isn’t a bad thing since it IS the M5. As for the rest of the 5-series line up, the residual values have dropped about 2%, with the money factors carrying over from March. That means, higher monthly payments. Oddly enough, April isn’t looking like a good month for the 3-series or the 5-series.

logo_bmw My Take: The 5-series lease rates are pretty good this month. Even the M5, which is normally increadibly expensive to lease, has a reasonable residual value and money factor. Now for fun, I added base estimates of the M5. Keep a couple things in mind, I didn’t include the $5000 dealer cash that’s available on the M5 in my calculations. Just keep that in mind during your negotiations. If that’s too expensive (it is double the price of a 535i after all), you can always go down to the 528i. In my opinion, the 2.8i is adequate on the 3-series since its smaller, on the 5-series however, I feel that it is a bit underpowered. I know the payments look ultra-ridiculous on the M5 right now, but assuming invoice + the dealer cash, 12k miles for 36 months, you may be looking at $962 monthly payments + tax and inception fees.

BMW Revises Lease Rates for February 2009

My Take: In an unusual move. BMW revised some of their lease rates for February. I haven’t really gotten around to look through everything in detail, but at first glance, the 3-series seems to have gotten hit with a higher money factor. OUCH! This is rather unexpected since most lease rates change from month to month, not twice in a month. This does put a damper on the hopes that the next few months will bring better rates. Hopefully some of you were able to jump in on the lower rates.

Anyway, my laptop died tonight, so I will not be able to address any questions you may have until tomorrow night or Friday.

My Take: Me likey BMW 5-series leases this month. Me also likey special financing of 2.9% for up to 60 months. Me likey the lookey of 5-series. Haahaa. The 535i has a “special lease” program this month for $599 a month for 36 month/10k miles a year, $5424 due at signing ($54,125 MSRP, Auto + Premium). What kind of special is that? Drop $5425 up front? No thanks, I’d rather cut my own deal. Here’s what I’d push for:

Term: 36-month
Miles: 12k miles a year
MSRP: 54,125
Sale: 49,835 (invoice)
MF: .00145
Residual:60%
Monthly: $588 + tax
Due: Inception fees (1st month, dmv, tire, doc fee, acquisition, MAYBE security deposit) of around $2000 or less.

Same car, more miles, less up front, less per month.
