09 Infiniti EX35 Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_infinitiUpdate: Loyalty cash is $500. My Take: There is $4000 dealer cash available on the EX35 this month, however it cannot be combined with the special financing, which is actually pretty darn good. 2.9% for 72 months, 1.9% for 60, 0.9% for 48 and 0% for 36 months. I’ve emailed David Baker regarding the cash for leasing, my guess its probably not applicable, but it’s worth asking about regardless. I’m really like the money factors though, the residual is still above average, so it’s worth a look. At invoice, the deal is still slightly more than what I would consider a “good deal”, but if you can get around $1000 below invoice, then deal becomes quite good.

Anyone Want An Acura TL Lease?

logo_acuraI emailed my Acura dealer today regarding the 09 TSX w/ Tech and 09 TL w/ Tech to see how they looked like this month.  I was blown away by the numbers he gave me! His 09 TSXs completely sold out, so only the 2010s are on the lot. Next, he has VERY limited availability on the 09 TLs and I can see why (more on that later). Before I get to the numbers, I’m sure you are curious as to why I’m inquiring about lease quotes when I just got an 08 G37 last year and still have 9 months on my wife’s TSX (Well, maybe you aren’t curious, but I’ll tell you anyway. LOL) I’m trying to see if selling the TSX makes more sense than waiting 9 months before replacing it with whats left of the 2010s. This is the 2nd year in a row he’s pretty much sold out (or had limited availability) on the TSX and TLs. I know the wife would appreciate all the Tech and safety features on Acuras (plus we love their lease programs), so I thought it would be wise to take a look. Lets just say I came away SERIOUSLY thinking about this.

The 2010 Acura TSX w/ Tech is not a good lease right now. 58% and 0.00243 is a joke. You’ll be looking at mid to high $400s, so don’t even bother getting a quote this month because you can get similarly equipped 09 TL for a few bucks more.

This is where it gets interesting!

2009 Acura TL w/Tech – $423 + tax, with inception due at signing. Keep in mind I am not using the same exact numbers he’s giving me. This is more of my inception due-at-signing routine, where I keep the fees away from the lease loan.  His exact numbers were $1100 drive-off, $438 a month + tax. That is because he is rolling the bank fee into the lease loan to keep your inception fee lower. Otherwise, you’d be paying around $1600 instead of $1100. Want more numbers? MSRP $39,445 and he’s giving a whopping $6,850 off the sticker price. That’s $3,771 BELOW invoice and $2,216 BELOW Edmund’s TMV (See why TMV is so unreliable sometimes?!?). Need more reasons to consider the TL? Check out The List and you’ll see that the TL actually falls below most cars this month. For a $39k car, that’s pretty darn good. If you want to buy, you can use this price (which includes the $2000 dealer cash) with the 2.9% APR for 60 months.

Now, if you are willing to do business with my Acura dealer, here are some ground rules.

  1. I will only provide you his contact information via email. So you must contact me to get it.
  2. This is a FRIEND referral, not Dealerplace. This means, you must act as if you know me.  I suggest saying you are one of my web design clients or something.
  3. Serious inquiries ONLY. I plan to to refer the first TWO people who contact me about this deal, because it would seem rather suspicious if a flock of people start emailing him within 24 hrs. I don’t have THAT many friends looking to  buy a car right now. LOL.
  4. Please do not haggle. It would reflect poorly on me if you tried to haggle this already low price. I don’t want him thinking my referrals are difficult. You aren’t required to lease from him, but please don’t make me look bad.
  5. Under no circumstances should you mention the RIDE with G website. I’m not sure how he’d react to a site like this, so lets just keep it  hush-hush for now.
  6. Be sure to tell me your name and where you are from, in case he calls me or emails me about you.
  7. This is in Southern California. If you are within driving distance to LA/OC, I suggest that you send me an email.

The way my guy works is simple…He gives me the rockbottom price, below invoice (when the market suggests that’s the case), all  in one email.  I like that.  If you want to shop around your area first, go ahead,I’ve given you the numbers. If no one wants to beat it, you know where to find me.

UPDATE: If you don’t need a TL with Tech, the Base I was offered was $30,196, off of a MSRP of $35,850 (around $5,654 off MSRP). My guess is that the payments should be around $360-$370 + tax. That’s cheaper than my G37 deal from last year which came out to $368 + tax.

Mercedes E350, Deal of the Month? Probably.

After a few days of digging around and answering questions regarding the 2009 Mercedes E350s, I think we’ve pretty much come down to one conclusion. The E350 is the Deal of the Month. You will not be able to find yourself a car that retails for nearly $60k for around $600 anywhere (with just inception fees). So why is this happening? $10,000 rebate that you can use on a lease. The lease rates are pretty decent too! 48% 46% residual at 10k, 47% 45% at 12k and 45% 43% at 15k miles per year. The money factor is a reasonable .00165, which breaks down to about 3.96% APR. Not fantastic, but good enough to make the deal work. I know $600 and change is a bit steep for most people, but if you are shopping around for any vehicle in the $50k-$60k range, rest assure that you will pay a heck of a lot more than the E350. You got 10 days this time (unlike the super late CLK post I made. LOL. Sorry about that!) Go ahead and inquire with your local dealers about the E350 because you have nothing to lose. So Cal residents, you know you can count on Aaron McCroskey to give you the proper information, so be sure to hit him up for some quotes. Now here’s a quick guide as to what you need to have done BEFORE you call/email him.

  1. Color and options! If its not in the lot or anywhere to be found, he can’t help you. 09 E350s are out of production already, so grab them while you can!
  2. Sale price and MSRP. You know how to use Edmunds, so use it. Make sure you have a sale price offer.
  3. Crunch your numbers! you know the money factor, residual values and you got my calculator. Plug it in and see what you get so there aren’t any huge surprises later.
  4. Don’t negotiate payments please. sale price, sale price, sale price. negotiate that.
  5. Inception fees should be pretty standard, if you see something funky, question it. Like the “training fee” I heard about this week…if they can’t explain it, it shouldn’t be there.

Do this with ALL dealers, not just Aaron, Dave, Michael or David. This saves everyone time and agony. Trust me, it really helps.

Other Southwest residents (Las Vegas and Phoenix) might want to hit up Aaron too if your local dealer’s fees are ridiculously high. If you are not within reasonable range of So Cal, you can try finding one using my Yahoo! Autos affliate.

09 MINI Cooper Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_miniMy Take: Looks like MINI is shying away from the 24-month leases by dropping the residual close to a 36-month lease. It’s no question that the sweet spot is the 36-month lease, specially with the residual value this strong. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised how the leasing world has began shaping up after the major credit meltdown we had last year. Sure, the $400 a month for $40,000 car leases are pretty much gone, but I was expecting things to get worse with GM, Ford and Chrysler getting out of the leasing market. Anyway, MF still a bit high, but the residual is so high that it easily offsets the money factor. This is not a keeper at lease-end though, so just turn it in.

$4500 option credit for BMW 335d and X5

logo_bmwMy Take: Here’s a bit of information regarding the BMW 335d, courtesy of Hue.

“BMW is offering a $4,500 “option credit” towards the purchase of a new diesel 3 series or x5. It can be combined with the special rates. It is not considered a rebate because it is taken off the price of the vehicle not off of the bottom line.”

This is a REGIONAL rebate, so your state may not offer this. If it does, I would really recommend that you look into it because the $4500 savings are quite substantial. The MF is around .00250 for the 335d, so its a bit high. The rebate does help, but you should consider some MSDs to lower it a bit.

Infiniti Limited Engagement Summer Event

logo_infinitiMy Take: In case you didn’t know, here’s a list of “specials” going on right now at your local Infiniti dealers. Remember that the advertised deals are just “GUIDELINES”, you can generally negotiate a better deal. One that involves little to no cap cost reduction from you and more dealer contribution.

2010 Toyota Prius Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_toyotaMy Take: MF rises .00010 points from June, so things got a bit more expensive than last month. Seems like the Prius is selling well, which could explain the sudden rise in MF. I would recommend passing on this car this month. Maybe next month will be better.

09 Subaru Outback Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_subbyMy Take: I’m hearing a $2000 rebate if you finance through the captive bank, so this might be worth a look. Residual is okay, but the money factor is better than normal, so if you can negotiate a fairly low sale price with the rebate, this might end up being a $300s a month lease. Not too shabby. Definitely a recommendation if you are looking for a decently priced/sized hauler.
