UPDATE 3: The email forms are still offline. If you have any questions, please use the forums for the time being. Dealerplace contact forms are also affected by this, so please just pick up the phone and call them if you need to get a quote. Don’t worry, they don’t bite. LOL. The emailing does not affect comments or forum signups so there shouldn’t be any problems using the site and making comments.

UPDATE 2: Forum registration is back online. Email notifications are up and running. Still working on the email forms.

UPDATE: The migration went through without any major issues. Business as usual. Correction, the email forms are offline. Will work on the problem tomorrow (it’s been a long day). I’ll be taking the email forms OFFLINE until further notice. I will be addressing all the remaining questions in the posts and in the forums tomorrow. Hopefully I didn’t lose any of your questions and/or comments.

What’s Going On or WGO, is going to be an informational series of posts relating RIDE with G, which includes site news, developments and so on. This series will effectively replace the monthly announcements I post at the beginning of each month.

RIDE with G is moving…to a new hosting company.

I’ve have begun making preparations to move the site to a new web host. The current web hosting company, Startlogic, was cheap and for good reason. Latency problems has been an ongoing issue and I had enough. I’ve been working all week in preparation of making the transition to a new web host. The good news is that site should run much faster than before. The bad news is that it’s going to cost me twice as much to host it.

The migration of the site should occur overnight to avoid data loss. I would advice against posting any questions or comments (on the blog and on the forum) after 8PM PST (11PM EST) to prevent them getting lost in the shuffle. I have not decide on the date, it could happen tonight or over the weekend. Just as a rule of thumb, try not to post anything after 8PM PST until I complete the migration.

I know I have some pending questions in the Forum that I need to answer since Sunday. Please hang in there. I will get to it once the migration is complete. RIDE with G is basically a one-man show when it comes down to the technical aspect of the website, so your patience is appreciated.

The G is out of the shop

I’m getting my G37 back from the body shop today. I had a the bumper cover and grille replaced because the car suffered some damage last year. I opted for the Sport Bumper (a $30 difference), so the car will look a bit different than before. Will take pics and post them afterwards.

logo_audi My Take: Audi lease rates seem to be the same as last month, so instead of writing the same exact comment as last month, I’ll just direct you to last month’s post [July]. You can dig around for the A3, A6, A8 comments from July by going to the Audi Category on the left menu. Sorry for those still looking for the A5/S5s. Maybe the 2010 model’s lease rates will improve…maybe.

09 Porsche 911, Cayenne, Cayman, Boxter Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_porsche My Take: Porsche’s lease rates and money factors are quite attractive this month. You are in the market for a Porsche or something equivalent, you would definitely be doing yourself a favor by looking into one of these rides. The money factor, which is around 3.5% is not bad, the residual is much better than most 2009 Mercedes Benz and some 2009 BMWs. The only model I would caution you on would be the Cayenne. The residual values are a bit too low, so it would make the lease somewhat expensive. Its not a bad time for the Porsche this month, whether you buy (remember the 1.9% for 60 months financing offer I mentioned in August Announcements?) or lease, I think you can get a pretty decent deal out of them.

2010 Acura TSX Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_acura My Take: Not the most attractive lease rates on the 2010 TSX right now. 2009 going to be quite difficult to find right now, so I wouldn’t even bother. I would hold out a little bit before jumping on the TSX. Still relatively new and even my Acura dealer suggests the TSX isn’t worth it since the 2009 TL can be had for just a little bit more. Then again, there is that “ugly” factor on the TL, so I would probably suggest waiting until the MF drop a bit more.

09 BMW Z4, 6-Series, 7-Series Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_bmw My Take: Rounding off the BMW lease rates, the Z4, 6-series and 7-series all have pretty decent leases rates in my opinion. Nothing that would want me to add them to the list, though. These cars have high enough residuals (except for the 7-series, which has low money factors) that putting down some MSDs should help lower the over monthly payment on the lease. If you don’t know what MSDs are, please raise your hand. Now here’s an email I got from Jake some weeks ago explaining why MSDs are a good thing:

“Hi G
I just to let you know I turned on my brother to your site. He was going to put $3k plus fees down to help with cap cost (lower) payment, but after seeing your site he put 8 MSDs to buy down the money factor. Fast forward 3 months, his X5 is gone (crash); he’s fine; INS. Gap, etc. takes care of it all. He saved a few grand just by reading your site. From the whole “M” famly THANKS for the info.”

There you have it folks, go with MSDs if the money factor is too high. Surprisingly enough, most people opt for cap reduction, which is just plain silly. So before you decide to put money down, ask your dealer if the bank allows you to buy down the money factor. You just might be glad you did.

09 Mercedes Benz G, SL Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_benz My Take: The last two rates I got from MB are the G (don’t lease it please) and the SL (maybe just the SL550). The financing for the SL is much more attractive than the lease if you ask me (1.9% for up to 36 months and 2.9% for up to 66 months). Although, if you want to “lease-to-buy” the SL550, that might be such a bad idea since the interest rate is only about 1.4% on the 36 and 48 month leases. Something to think about if you are in the market for the SL.

logo_benz My Take: The remaining 2010 MY Mercedes models are nothing to sing about this month. Low residual, high money factor pretty much puts them out of the auto leasing landscape. What is notable, however, is the presence of a Hybrid in the S-Class lineup. Looks like MB has decided to join Lexus in the luxury Hybrid market. I still wouldn’t lease them though.

UPDATE: CLS models are getting $3000 cash towards a purchase this month.
