2011-12 Acura Lease Rates – June 2011

TL and TSX money factors dropped since May. Other than that, everything else stays the same. As good as Acura programs are, I still find it difficult to see how their leases are financially attractive. Money factors were more than likely dropped in response to price hikes due to production shortages. I was really hoping that this year would be the year where we would see great leases like we did three or four years ago. It’s not looking like that’s going to be the case.

Numbers remain the same as May. Sale price has shot up quite due to Japan’s production woes. Expect to pay a lot more this month compared to last month. Check out the CrossTour’s calculations this month compared to last month. Ouch! It went from a great lease to a crappy one in a matter of a few months. Expect the same thing to happen for other Honda models.

If you have been using May numbers to calculate your lease estimates, your estimates should still work this month. These aren’t the best numbers of the year, but that’s mainly due to lower residuals and the residual effect of the tsunami/earthquake in Japan. I do not expect availability to improve until at least September. To be honest, I think it might be more like Dec 2011/Jan 2012. Nevertheless, Infiniti is still one of the best luxury brands to lease from right now because their payments are very affordable (for a luxury brand).

If you notice below, sale prices have gone up a bit (due to limited availability) compared to last month. The longer you wait, the more expensive it’s probably going to get.

2011 Kia Lease Rates – June 2011

As I was saying on the Hyundai page, the Sonata, seems to be the better lease in terms of payments. However, many folks like the styling on the Optima better, plus the added options (panoramic sunroof, cooled seats, etc…) seem to make this lease “worthwhile” to some. However, I can’t really get myself to recommend a $400+ a month lease of a $30k Kia since that’s almost luxury car territory (think G37).

In terms of Buying-To-Lease, I think it’s a pretty good deal if you plan to keep the car long term (and why not? The warranty is 10 yrs!). The interest rate is minuscule (about 0.77%) and a good 53% of the vehicle’s cost is being financed at that rate, which is great. Considering the lowest financing promo rate on the Optima is 1.9% right now, I think leasing for three years then buying off the rest make more financial sense. The only exception would be if you paid cash upfront.
