2012 Volkswagen Lease Rates – February 2012

No change on the residuals, but you will notice a slight drop in MFs for a few models. That’s good news for us since it just got less expensive to borrow money from VWC. The CC is not a bad deal this month since there is $1500 lease bonus available to customers. However, nothing beats 0% financing for up to 72 months, so you may want to look into that as a possibility if you are open to buying. Check out the CC’s sample calculation below to get an idea on how the CC lease looks like this month. Not bad huh?

2012 Mercedes-Benz Lease Rates – February 2012

I’m only seeing one big change this month and it’s on the SL550’s MF. It drops from .00225 to .00165. Significant, specially when you are looking at a car at this price range, but probably doesn’t affect too many of us since this isn’t exactly a “mainstream” vehicle.

I’m still liking the C250 coupe if you qualify for the Loyalty cash. The slight drop in sale prices has helped drop the payments about $9 per month, which doesn’t look like much, but every little helps. The cash is really huge because it boosts the discount off MSRP from 4% to 9.5%, which is really the difference-maker here. If I were in the market for the C250 coupe right now and qualified for the loyalty cash, I would ask for 4% off MSRP, then take the $2000 loyalty cash and use it to pay drive-offs. Then I would drop extra cash as MSDs in order to drop the MF since it’s pretty high.

2012 Acura Lease Rates – February 2012

Can’t wait to see the NSX and the ILX lease rates. If you haven’t seen the Acura NSX during the Super Bowl, here’s the link to the YouTube video. That was quite amusing. LOL. Anyway, no change on the numbers this month, but sale price on the TL seems to be a bit lower with the $1500 dealer marketing cash that’s available on this car. For those 0.9% financing for up to 36 month or 1.9% for 60 month also available. Looks like Acura is really trying to move the TL. Hopefully the next TL is a lot better looking. I really like Acura lease programs due to the damage-waiver credit and no disposition fees. That’s a whole lot of anxiety and cash saved at lease-end.

2012 Honda Lease Rates – February 2012

Just a few residual adjustments on the Accord and Crosstour. Not sure if I miss read/typed it last month or if they were actual adjustments from AHFC. Either way, nothing too significant.
As you know, I’ve been saying recently that TrueCar indicates higher sale prices last month. It has also been commented that it may be due to TrueCar no longer offering “low price guarantees”. Instead they indicate a “Target Price” instead. I think there’s some truth to both. I think part of the problem is low price guarantee price quotes don’t really work. As a matter of fact, I think its illegal to advertise a price guarantee for a vehicle without a VIN number. Nevertheless, I still recommend using TrueCar quotes as a tool to negotiate your final sale price because there really isn’t anything else like this. Just don’t expect to get that price right off the bat. Some negotiation may be in order.

2012 Hyundai Lease Rates – February 2012

The only car qualifying as a “deal” right now is the Sonata 2.0T SE. There is a lot of cash available right now, but not a lot of discounts off MSRP w/o using manufacturer incentives. The one thing I recommend is that you be careful when you lease a Hyundai. The payments are VERY attractive since they are generally $200-$300 per month for most cars, but they are also fairly inexpensive cars, so you don’t want to end up overpaying.

For example, leasing a Genesis Coupe for $300 a month +tax and inceptions isn’t all that bad, but the car’s MSRP is only $24k. So keep that in mind. Same goes for the other low priced models such as the Elantra, Accent and Veloster.

2012 Infiniti Lease Rates – February 2012

Slight change in the numbers compared to last month (Very slight bump in MF, nothing you will really notice). There is also dealer cash available for leases, such as the $1000 loyalty for the G sedan. The bad news is that sale prices have gone up a bit. Using the Infiniti G37 Journey sedan as an example, you are looking at about 9% off MSRP. If you factor in the $1000 loyalty dealer cash, you will be looking at about 11.5% off MSRP. A big jump from last month’s estimates, but still a very good deal overall. Also, you may want to inquire about the “pull-ahead” program they usually run in the first half of the year. They will allow existing Infiniti lessees to end their lease early without penalty (as long as your next lease is also an Infiniti).

We are starting to see an upward trend on the sale prices across many makes and models. Looks like leasing cars is starting to get a bit more expensive. I’m not so sure this is going to be a long-term trend though since January/Feb are generally bad leasing months. There’s plenty of room for better deals since the year is still young.

2011-12 BMW Lease Rates – February 2012

BMW lease rates remain the same. January sales numbers seemed to have inched up significantly. Take the 2011 BMW 328ix for example…We were looking at a sale price of about 7.5% off MSRP. Now it’s more like 6% (according to TrueCar). 2012 3-Series sale price were about 5% of MSRP on the same model. Discounts may very depending on trim and your region. Now that we have more 2012 data lets take at look at the sample calculation below.

I don’t have any special recommendations for BMWs this month, but I would suggest checking out remaining 2011 models before taking the plunge on the 2012s.

2012 Audi Lease Rates – February 2012

There is no change to Audi numbers this month. If you haven’t noticed the pattern, it seems lease rates change every other month in most cases. There have been a few times where numbers either changed monthly or bi-monthly, but it’s been monthly every other month. Expect lease rates to change in March.

I don’t have any recommendations for Audi’s this month because they just don’t look very attractive. Without any incentives, you are looking at anywhere from 0% off MSRP to about 3%, depending on the model. If you factor in the lukewarm lease numbers, you pretty much get a below average lease. Alternatively, there are decent 60-month financing rates available for select models, such as 1.9% for the A3.

Here is a sample calculation based on TrueCar’s Southern California sale price and do not include local taxes. Please note that your dealer calculations may vary due to local fees/taxes.
