My Take: The sale price on the M35 should be lower than invoice. At least that’s what some folks report. The MF is very low right now, but so is the residual. I haven’t been following the Ms much, so I can’t say for certain if this is the “Deal of the Year”. It certainly is worth inquiring about if you are looking for an alternative to the 5-series or the E-class.  If you live in So Cal, I can refer you to my local Infiniti guy.

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms

My Take: Not the best MF right now. Buying isn’t look that much better since there isn’t any special financing available either. If you can afford to wait on the CR-V, I would recommend doing so.

July 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Honda Civic Si

2008 Honda Civic Coupe Si
24 Month – Residual 66% of MSRP – .00370 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 57% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Not exactly the best lease right now, specially for the 24mo term. I would wait, or simply buy it. Looks like most manufacturers are introducing very attractive financing options and rebates for purchase this time of the year.

** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Finally found some Acura lease rates! I still think March was the best time to lease a TL. Hindsight is 20/20 after all, so telling you now doesn’t serve any purpos, except to make you feel bad. However, there is $1000 in factory cash available to lessees. So negotiate a low sale price then tack on the factory cash. Remember dealer and factory incentives are TWO different things from two different sources. The residual stinks on the TL right now, but the MF is now too bad. As posted earlier, the 2009 TL is arriving in the fall. So there could be a fire-sale of the remaining 08 TLs. I remember back in 2003, I was shopping around for a car and stumbled upon the previous generation TL, they were deeply discounting (at least 5000 off MSRP) them because of the 2004 TL was coming. So expect more of the same this time around.

July 2008 Lease Rate for 2008 Pontiac G8

2008 Pontiac G8 Sedan
24 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 59% of MSRP – .00208 Base Money Factor Rate
36 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 51% of MSRP – .00208 Base Money Factor Rate
48 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 40% of MSRP – .00208 Base Money Factor Rate

2008 Pontiac G8 GT Sedan
24 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 59% of MSRP – .00208 Base Money Factor Rate
36 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 51% of MSRP – .00208 Base Money Factor Rate
48 mo/15k mi – Residual Value 40% of MSRP – .00208 Base Money Factor Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Looks like the rates improved ever so slightly over the last two months. Compare July’s numbers with the quote I got last May and you’ll see why:

36mo/10k – residual 56% – lease rate 5.5% (MF .00229)
36mo/12k – residual 54% – lease rate 5.5% (MF .00229)

The MF is .00021 lower and the residual only dropped by about 1%. You aren’t really saving much to be honest you with. Maybe $2. As impressed as I am with the G8 GT, I still think there are better options out there for the price. Maybe things will improve in the coming months.

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: The vehicle enjoying the lowest MF on this list is the R350. The rich (wo)man’s station wagon, as I like to call it. These MB’s residual value are rather low overall, so they are hardly a bargain.

July 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Audi A5

2008 Audi A5 6-Speed Coupe
24 Month – Residual 59% of MSRP – .00279 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 51% of MSRP – .00279 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Good News! The A5 is a VERY sweet car. Bad News! The rates STILL suck. A5 looks sweetest in black. The accent lighting on the headlights makes the car look super-futuristic and gives off an “oooh-ahhhh” type of reaction, kind of like BMWs “Halo” lighting. It may take some months before we start seeing better lease rates on the A5. Hopefully, your lease isn’t expiring too soon if you are aiming for the A5. Just keep your eyes peeled on the rates every month, and the moment they drop to your price range, jump on it. That’s what I did with my G37 and I think I got the best deal of the year thus far.

36 Month – Residual 56% of MSRP – .00190 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 35% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 28% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate

My Take: The “Land Shark” has started to show it’s age, so it looks like BMW is looking to push these cars out the dealer lots a bit. Note the slightly lower MFs and fairly high residual values. There’s a new Z4 in the horizon. Check it out! Not exactly getting my blood boiling with excitement, but I’m rather sick of looking at the current Z4.
