September 2008 Lease Rate for 08/09 Nissan Altima

My Take: A couple of things to note about the Nissan Altima S Coupe. The 09’s residual is 1% lower and the MF is HIGHER than the 08. Yes folks, the 08’s coupes are leasing better than the 09’s. I wouldn’t take the plunge on the 09 models just yet. It seems Nissan is trying to push some of their 08 inventory before year end, so be sure to look into those if you are shopping for an Altima.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Mazda 6

My Take: The 09 Mazda6 i Touring’s numbers look pretty decent this month. Could be lower on the MF department, but I can’t complain. Add a couple grand in options and you are still looking at sub-$400 payments with just inception fees. You can further cut back the monthly payments by opting for the 12k mile per year allowance. Avoid the 48 month lease, not only does the residual drop like 13%, but you are going to get hammered on the money factor.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Audi A3

My Take: I think that Audi can do better on the A3, personally. This is their “cheapest” car on their line up, yet it costs more to lease than a base Lincoln MKS and a base BMW 335i. Geez! I wonder which one I’m gonna pick, huh? Oh well, that’s Audi for ya.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Acura MDX

My Take: The bad news is that the MDX doesn’t have any lease support this month. The good news is that there is $4000 of factory to dealer cash available. It doesn’t mean you will get all that cash for sure, but it doesn’t hurt to ask for it. Keep in midn that’s manufacturer to dealer cash, so I would mention that AFTER you negotiate a sale price from the dealer. I know, I’m sneaky like that, but hey, its your money, I’m just trying to save you some. Another option would be to take advantage of the 0.9% for up to 36 months and 2.9% for up to 60 months. Not too bad if you ask me.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Audi A5/S5

My Take: Hats off to you if you are able to get the A5 at invoice. I must say the MF and residual are quite horrible for this model, as a matter of fact, it is probably the worse lease I have analyzed this month. I would recommend staying clear from the A5 until probably next year.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Mazda CX-9

My Take: I think the residual value on the CX9 has dropped to the point where not even the low MF can save it. If you check out The List, you’ll see how the CX9 Touring AWD comes in at just a tad above the IS350 in terms of monthly payments. Which would you rather have?

Introducing THE LIST

Kudos to James and Dave. They have inspired me to create a side-by-side list comparison of the leases I analyze each month. Instead of putting my “stamp” of approval or “recommended leases of the month”, I decide to compile this list and sort them from lowest monthly payment down to the highest. Fact is, everyone’s definition of a “DEAL” is different. Since I don’t have the same “priorities” as other people may have, I decided to just list the prices and models and let you, the readers, figure out what you think it’s worth leasing.

HERE IS “THE LIST” FOR SEPTEMBER 2008

Obviously, the cars in the lower part of the list are the most expensive to lease, so try to stay away from those if you can. However, do consider the MSRP during your decision making process. If you find a car that retails for $40k and is leasing for less than $400 a month, you obviously have a winner.

I decided to keep the cars “stock” since it gets rather complicated when you start adding the options. Not all cars provide the same options, so it would have made for a rather unfair comparison.

The list gets updated regularly so check it often!

Question, comments, suggestions? I’m all ears…errr EYES!

September 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Lincoln MKS

My Take: I did this more out of curiosity more than anything else. The MF is fairly low here and the residual is “so-so”. So what’s the problem? This car is way overpriced. Can you imagine a Lincoln MKS, STOCK, going for $40k? Yeah, I can’t either.
