09 Audi A6 Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_audiMy Take: Wow, I’m really liking the super low money factor on the A6 right now. The residual is low as well, so leasing-to-buy is certainly a possibility here. Sticking with the 36-month term should yield the lowest monthly payments. Strategically speaking, if I wanted to buy the car at lease end, I would lease this for 36-months and go with the 10k per year allowance. I would then roll in all fees into the loan and do a true “sign-a-drive”. Now if you live in a state where you can prepay your taxes, I would recommend that you do. With the extra money you save for not having to put a down payment, I would deposit it in a CD or some high interest baring account (or invest in something). Drive the car as you please disregarding the mileage limitations. When lease expires, take out that money you were saving and use it towards the payoff. By buying out your lease, you can also avoid disposition fees and any wear and tear that the dealer will impose on you.

09 Audi A3 Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_audiMy Take: Ever wonder which trim is the better deal for the A3s? If you are looking for the lowest payment, the base FWD model will probably be the best choice. Now, if you wanted to know what the best “deal” would be relative to the car you get, then you will need to play around with your lease calculator. The way to determine that is simple, all you need to do is assume that all trims of the A3 cost the same, say $30,000. Then just plug in the residual value and the money factor to the calculator and see which one yields the lowest payment. I’ve come to realize is that the more you play around with the calculator, the more you will understand the relationships between the numbers. I currently do not have any Audi dealers at the Dealerplace, so you can try using Yahoo! Autos to get free quotes from dealers in your area. Once the Dealerplace gets a few Audi dealers, I will announce it.

Dealerplace Welcomes Aaron McCroskey

Hello fellow Riders! I’d like to welcome Aaron McCroskey to the Dealerplace. Aaron is a friendly and professional guy who was a lot of fun to talk to. I probably spent a good hour talking to him over at MBZ Long Beach this weekend and didn’t even realized it. Haahaa. As you all know, I am about full disclosure so I need to let you know that Aaron is a floor sales guy. I am aware that for us internet people, we tend to seek out the fleet managers. However, I’m making an exception because based on my conversation with Aaron, I got the impression that he is a straight-up guy that genuinely cares about his clients, unlike the majority of the folks I’ve meet when I walk into dealerships. His personality is in line with my goal for Dealerplace, which is about building relationships, no matter where these dealers end up. What is as good as making friends with a doctor or a lawyer? Making friends with a dealer. 🙂

09 BMW Z4 Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: I spend the weekend visiting Dave Persaud over at Long Beach BMW. VERY nice guy. This is the first time I met him, so I was plesantly surprised how “no BS” this guy is. Anyway, remember that when contacting/visiting dealears, you should do your homework first. You need to know what you want, you need to know your SALE price and have precalculated your payments so you know what to expect. Don’t show up there without knowing anything, that would defeat the purpose having me write/post all of the stuff on Leasing 101. My job is to educate you and then point you to good people that deserve your business. Moving on, I got a chance to check out the new Z4 and it is are very good looking roaster. I like the more aggressive styling and the available hardtop. Very cool. Anyway, Dave says the cars are not for sale just yet, but should be in the coming weeks. Here are the numbers in case you are ready to get one. MF is a bit high so MSD might be in order. I would recommend not leasing this car right now.

09 BMW X3, X5, X6 Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: I would probably recommend taking a pass the X3 this month. The X5 isn’t too bad since the residual is high and the money factor is lower than the X3 and the X6, so that may not be a bad lease with some MSDs. The same goes for the X6, which has an even higher residual value than the X5. By the way, there is a $1750 loyalty cash rebate on the X5, so if you qualify, take advantage of it. 2.9% financing for up to 60 month is also being offered right now. Same thing going on with the X6. Not too bad I guess, but I prefer MB’s financing this month.

A List of Chrysler Dealerships Shutting Down

Here is the official list of dealerships Chrysler plans to shutdown, courtesy of MSNBC.

Chrysler’s Latest Victims [PDF]

To my fellow Southern Californians, Union Dodge in Garden Grove (Trask/Brookhurst) is on the list. Bummer for them! I drive by it every time I go to the Boiling Crab and that place looks deserted. That’s pretty sad because Brookhurst is one of the busiest streets in the Orange County area.

09 Toyota Highlander Lease Rates – May 2009

logo_toyotaMy Take: The money factor on the Highlander is acceptable (barely), but the residual is not. Now, there may be some special “regional” deals going on all Toyota’s right now, so don’t let these numbers discourage you. Just contact your local dealer if you have questions regarding money factors, residuals and customer rebates (if any). If you don’t know of a dealer that can help you, just use the Yahoo Auto Quote System. Easy way to get dealers to contact you instead.
