09 Volkswagen CC Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_vwMy Take: Looks like the VW CCs are falling under the “lease-to-buy” category now. I would skip the Sport model since the residual and money factor are still a bit too weak for my taste. Instead, opt for the Luxury, VR6 or VR6 4motion models if you don’t mind buying them at lease end. If you plan to lease and return, I recommend skipping the CCs altogether and going with something like an Accord.

09 Volkswagen Jetta Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_vwMy Take: VW has been pitching the Jetta S for $2499 drive-off and $179 (plus fees and taxes) per month. By looking at the money factors and residuals, I can see why the drive-off is so much. There’s probably a lot cap cost reduction on your part in order to make this happen. You probably know how I feel about cap cost reduction, so I don’t really need to tell you how bad of an idea that is.

After breaking down the payments below, I’ve come to realize the deal isn’t all that great. The only reason the advertisement looks good is because the of the cap reduction YOU have to put down. Alternatively, the SE model has the same residual and a lower money factor, making it much more attractive.

09 Volvo C70 Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_volvoMy Take: Obviously no point leasing through Volvo here. Just look at the money factor! 12.648% APR! Are you kidding me? Here’s a quick compare and contrast between what payments would be through Volvo and what they would be through on of LeaseCompare’s partner banks.

Through Volvo
MSRP – $40,595
Sale – $32,690
MF – .00527
RES – 46%
Monthly – $660 plus tax

Through LeaseCompare
MSRP – 40,595
Sale – 32,690
MF – .00264
RES – 40% (approx)
Monthly – $583 plus tax

As you can see, independent banks are much more realistic with their residual values than captive banks. This is not always a bad thing since lower residuals make your payoff at lease end lower. Should you choose to buy your vehicle in the end, it would cheaper. If I had to pick between paying a lower residual or a high money factor, I would pick the former. Now is the C70 convertible a good deal this month, whether you lease through Volvo or a 3rd party bank? No, it’s a horrible deal, I’d rather have a MB CLK instead.

09 Porsche Cayenne Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_porscheMy Take: Yickes. These lease rates don’t look very good. I wasn’t even going to bother posting them, but I figure someone out there would appreciate knowing that leasing a Porsche in June is not a very good idea. Alternatively, you should probably try checking with your bank to see if they offer a decent lease on this car. If your bank doesn’t lease cars, check out LeaseCompare.com, they have partnerships with many banks that lease cars, even Chryslers and GMs. I know it may sound like I’m peddling them a lot on my site, but the truth is this. Some leases from the captive banks are TERRIBLE right now. The residuals are rock-bottom and the money factors are sky-high. This is where LeaseCompare and partnerships with banks comes in and save you money.

09 BMW 7-Series – June 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: I’m not a big fan of the 7-Series’ residual value, but the MF is not half bad. Like the Audi A8, I still only recommend leasing this ride only if you have a way of writing the payment off OR you have a money tree or two planted in your backyard. If you do have the latter, please invite me over for a backyard BBQ one of these days. ^_^

09 Lexus IS Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_lexusMy Take: The IS250 Auto and AWD are probably the two best leases in the IS line up. Money factor is low and residual is high. Not only does this make a good lease, it also makes it good enough to buy out at lease end. The ISF and IS350 are slightly less desireable due to the low residual values and high money factors. The IS250 Auto & AWD are a VERY good deal month actually. Invoice price (or maybe slightly lower) should be attainable in certain areas with solid competition. It certainly doesn’t carry the “LEASE ME NOW” tag that the MB C350 has had for the past few months, but it is certainly not too far off. Personally, I would still pony up for the IS350 over the IS250. The MF isn’t all that bad at .00110. The residual does suck a bit, but nothing a lower yearly mileage allowance can’t fix.

If you are in the state of Texas, please be sure to support Michael Stewart (Park Place Lexus in Plano) from the Dealerplace. Thanks!

09 Infiniti G37 Lease Rates – June 2009

logo_infinitiUPDATED: Got the rest of the G37 numbers, INCLUDING the coupe! Enjoy!

My Take: After a little research, I seems the rates on the G37s are the same as last month, which are not that bad. In any case, The numbers look pretty decent, certainly not as good as last year around this time, but hey, IFS screwed themselves over last year on leases so this isn’t unexpected. Remember, 36-month, maybe even 39-month are going to be the best deals, but beware of the 39-month lease if you live in states where transfer of tags isn’t allowed. You might get dinged with extra dmv registration costs.
