Numbers this month are not as straight-forward as I was expecting. It’s safe to say the residuals have tanked, but Nissan hasn’t exactly reduced MFs for all those models across the board. As a matter of fact, they increased it for some and dropped it for others. Weird. In any case, not a complete lost cause. The Pathfinder and the Altima coupe got significant MF reductions which should help in the monthly payment department.

I think the reason for the wacky rate changes this month is that Nissan announced major price reductions on a few models, so they then decreased the residual values and increased the money factors so that the lease prices stayed the same.
Good point Eric. I remember reading that recently. Not sure how I feel about this though. On one hand, a lower residual does provide you with the added bonus of keeping the car at lease end if you wanted to without having a huge payoff at the end. On the other, I don’t like the inflated MFs.
