2013 Mercedes Benz Lease Rates – January 2013

Doesn’t look like Mercedes made any lease rates changes this month. That’s good thing because numbers are typically worse after the Holiday season. Folks reported some hefty discounts on the C-Class during the holidays so if you are in the market for one, I would recommend looking into it while the numbers remain practically the same.

  1. Thanks for the update. 2013 ML 350 Blue TEC diesel. Is the money factor and residual the same for the diesel?

    Thanks for the great site.

  2. Hi G, Do you know if Mercedes Benz does MSD’s like Infiniti does? If so what is the formula to calculate the savings?

    Thanks …

    • They do, but I have heard of restrictions being placed on lease rates that are considered “promotions”. They will more than likely allow it on the “non-promotional” rates, which are typically well over .002

  3. Hello G,

Is it normal for a dealer to ask for a security deposit for a build-to-order car? Most of the CLSes available readily have several options that I am not interested in; and I’m essentially looking for some basic options such as Premium 1 Pkg, Specific Exterior color, interior leather seats, standard wheels- nothing out of the ordinary. (Why should pay for options I am not interested in?)

My dealer says once MB assigns a VIN, we will be able to lock in on a lease rate as it prevails at that time.

My fear is that given MB’s lead times to build new vehicles, by the time a VIN is assigned, the lease rates would have unfavorably jumped up.

    • It is normal for a dealer to ask for a deposit on a ordered car and makes sense especially when you are requesting a car that is not something they would normally stock.

Have they offered to try to locate one that is close to your specification? IF there is something close just go for it. On a lease if it is just a few small options it really is not that much different in terms of the lease payment.

The S550 has a killer 18 month lease right now, could be a option with the same lease payment on more car.

Ask if you qualify for one of the “Fleet” programs, can save you a ton of money (3k on the cls, 4k on the s class, 4k on the e class, etc…).

      I am a MB dealer

      • Brett, I do qualify for Fleet program. What will the $ factor & residual for 18 month lease on S550?

        • On the S-class 18 month lease program the residual is 70% and the money factor is the standard .00160 Base Rate.

Something in stock you should be able to buy/lease for invoice minus the 4k fleet incentive.
If they bring one in from another dealer expect to pay reasonable transportation cost. if they can get one that is at port or still on the water that can be transferred in the MB system you can save that extra transportation cost. Please do not confuse this with the destination and delivery charge that MB adds to the MSRP and invoice, that is charged by them and it is always there.

-expect a reasonable mark up in the money factor
-acq. fee is 795 , do not let them try to mark this one up
-if you will be putting 20k miles on the car, get the pre-paid maintenance.

Let me know if there are any other questions.

          • Brett, which state are you located at? I’m in TX.

          • HI Brett

Can you elaborate on your statement on pre-paid maintenance over 20k?Is this a general statement across all MBs?

            Thanks

          • yes on just about any Mercedes lease you should include the prepaid service. If it is going to require 2 or more services during the time you lease the car it will save you money by including the pre paid service in the lease. It is residualized, so you are only paying for a portion of it. The 3 service plan is the one that works best most of the time. On the v6 cars it is 769.00 for the plan but since it is residualized it winds up adding less than 10 bucks a month to the lease, so it is only costing you $330 to $350 . This would pay for your 10k, 20k and 30k service. Typically there is no point in doing the 40k plan as it is normally time to go into another car at that point.

On a lease it is a no-brainer to get this.

  4. The GL550 doesn’t seem to be on any of these lists, does anybody have the money factor and residual value for 36m on the GL550?

What exactly is the “Fleet program” and how do you qualify for those?

    • I think the MF is the same but residual is 56% (15k) per year on the GL 550 l. vs. 61% (15k) on the GL 450 but I could be wrong

    • For a bit of info on the fleet programs:

      https://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/fleet_program/overview

There are several large corporations listed that qualify the employees for the program. Members of USAA, american bar association, american dental association and the american medical association also all can qualify for the fleet programs.

      GL550 residuals are:
      65% for 24, 60% for 30, 56% for 36 (15k add 2% for 12k, 3% for 10k and 4% for 7.5k

  5. I inadvertently posted this on the December blog. Do you know the 36 month residual and money factor on a 10k mi/yr lease of an E550 Convertible? Is it the same as the E350 Convertible?

  6. Hi G,

What would you consider a good lease on a CLS 550 4Matic with a dealer price (6% off MSRP) of $77450? I’m considering a 36 month 12K lease

    Thanks in advance,

    • 6% isn’t much of a discount. Check TrueCar’s local data on CLS550 4matic sales to get an idea on what the lowest sale price was last month. I am seeing 11-12%…but Dec sales is usually a lot more aggressive than January.

    • sounds like you are looking at a p1 car w/o any other options and in a non metallic paint. If so tell them you want another 1k knocked off.

This should roughly be invoice plus about 700 to 800.

There is 2k winter event money on the CLS. If you qualify for one of the fleet programs it will be 3k instead of 2k

a 36 month 12k a year lease should have a 57% residual and the standard MF. You might be better to consider a 30 month, it jumps to 62%

  7. G or Brett,

For a Mercedes lease, is the destination charge included in the MSRP for purposes of calculating the residual value?

Same question for regional advertising fees.

    Thanks!

    John

  8. What about the other lease programs that are offered? I heard the 24 month e class lease is very favorable, but no one is sharing the terms. Also, are the e class wagons using the same numbers as the sedan? I do not see them listed above…

  9. Brett,

I have 2011 E63AMG on lease and could you tell me if this is a good deal:

    negotiated price-100,259.27
    prepaid maintenence-1395
    aquisition fee -1095
    docs fee-599
    total of $103,348.27
    then cap cost reduction- 611.54
    adjusted cap cost-102,736.73
    residual-62194.26(how many % is this?)
    depreciation-40542.47
    rent charge-20484.37(whats the MF?)
    total of base monthly payment-61026.84
    payment with tax-1828.26

what do you think did I get a good deal??
