My Take: Wow, BMWFS seems to be adjusting their residual values on the 2010 for sure now. Compare 2009 numbers with 2010 numbers on the X line of SUVs. The residuals are maybe 1 or 2 points higher than a 2009 August rate! Looks like tough times ahead for BMW lessees. They don’t look horrible, but I get the feeling that things are gonna get a bit more expensive down the road since residual values have the tendency to drop over time. Maybe BMWFS will keep the residuals steady for a longer period of time, then fluctuate the MF based on previous month sales figures? (wishful thinking here). Either way, brace yourself if you plan to lease a BMW in the coming year.
