My Take: I’m liking the Jetta’s lease rates much better than the Accord. Sure, the Jetta isnt’ exactly in the same class as the Accord in terms of size, performance and liability, but if you don’t exactly need a car the size of the Accord, I think the Jetta would be more than adequate for hauling a family of four. A fully loaded Jetta SE should run you about the same as an Accord EX-L V6, but as a lease, it will probably be much cheaper. Assuming MSRP and Sale Price between the Accord and Jetta are the same, the Jetta would be about $44 cheaper per month, or $1584 over the life of the lease.
Volkswagen is currently providing a $750 cash incentive on leases of 2009 Jetta Sedans with automatic transmissions and $1,250 on leases of Jetta Sedans with manual transmissions through VW Credit (Even more reason to lease a Jetta right now). This cash is not available on TDI models.
