UPDATE: $2500 lease cash for 335i, $2000 lease cash for 328i. Special thanks to Smitty for gathering the info. Also, per Dave’s email: “In California, it’s $2,000 lease cash. BMW might offer differently in other states that I wouldn’t know about. Auto transmission credits are still in place through the end of this month.” Dave sent me another email today after double checking the bank sheets; here in CA, the lease cash is $2500 for the 335i and $2000 for the 328i, just like Smitty mentioned. Looks like that isn’t the case up in MA according to Jake. It also looks like MikeO is having problems getting the $2500 on the 335i as well.
My Take: I had a little R&R yesterday, so I apologize if I didn’t get to your emails and questions until today. Had a bday to attend, then had to chores around the house, so overall, busy weekend. Anyway I got a lot of good news for you regarding BMW 3-series, courtesy of Dave Persaud of Long Beach BMW. The lease cash on the 3-series and 5-series got bumped to $2000, instead of $1000. If you have a clunker, you can get $3500 towards either a 1, 3, or X3. So about $5500 right there, which excludes any discounts the dealer gives you. Just remember that the car you get has to have at least 22mpg combined mileage or more. The most noticeable change I’m seeing this month is the MF drop on the 335xi coupe (down from 0.00165 to .00145). The rest is pretty much the same as last month, I think. If you shopping for a car right now and don’t jumping on the 3-series right now, I don’t know what to tell you other than DO IT NOW! Dave’s been giving out REALLY low prices for both leases and purchases, so you really can’t go wrong with a 3 this month.
Check out the new LIST for the recommended leases of the month.

Is the $2000 available on the 328i coupe?
believe so, last month’s lease cash was available for all 3series, it was the option credit that varied from trim to trim.
FYI – I have quotes on the 335i coupe with $2500 lease cash available.
Thanks G.
Are the credits for AWD/Auto still available?
@ryan. contacted Dave, will update post once I hear from him.
@D. lease cash is a measly $750 on the 1-series. So I agree with Smitty, you are probably better off with a 3 instead.
I’d also like to mention that the 3-series production is over. So you’ll have to order a 2010 model if you want something specific.
JTL: Can you post your quotes?
I’ve been waiting on a deal just like this, and am looking for all the info I can get before I go to the dealership.
Can anyone confirm if it is 2500 vs 2000? Also, G, do you happen to know if the lease cash on the 1-series got bumped up as well?
G: The lease cash is good on a 2010 model as well?
@MikeO. Since I don’t think they are officially out yet, it is safe to say the lease cash only applies to the 2009 models. Think of it as BMWFS’ way of clearing their existing 2009 inventory. I really feel that this is a good month for leasing the 3 series since BMW seems to be trying to move whatever it’s left of them. Don’t wait until the VERY last month before the 2010s come out. Selection usually sucks and their incentives tend to shift over to buying instead of leasing.
Interesting the coupe MFs are much better. Are they not as popular?
Would we all agree that targeting Invoice PLUS the lease cash would be the appropriate goal here? http://www.truecar.com claims, at least in ATL, average price is $100 UNDER invoice. hmmmm
@smitty. From what Dave says, BMW is trying to move inventory. Generally speaking, sedans sell better, so they may have excess inventory on the coupes right now. I think it is realistic to expect under invoice price with the $2000 lease cash right now, maybe more than what truecar suggests.
I got confirmation from a dealer on the lease cash: $2500 on 335i, $2000 on 328i.
Smitty:
Can you do me a solid? I just got off the phone with a local BMW salesman who is swearing the 335’s lease cash is only $1000. Can you post a link or the name of the dealership that assured you it was $2000 or $2500?
@mikeo.
it looks like the lease cash is regional. so smitty’s state might be offering the $2500. Here in CA, it’s only $2000, this is according to Dave Persaud.. Looks like the lease cash is also $2500 on the 335i here too.@all
according to a dealer in Boston the 3 no love from BMW only $1k dealer cash. I hope it helps someone not to call the dealer a bull****er. LOL, Dealers are sharks, playing games, etc. It’s nice to know a site that helps us compare.
THANKS G.
Can anyone confirm if the $2000 is available in New York/New Jersey. I’ve contacted a dealer but I’m getting no response to my questions.
@all. Seems to me the NE region isn’t getting any love from BMW this month.
@all
328/335 in my market (Boston) $1k lease cash, as told by 2 BMW stores in mass. Other markets ??? they told me like this if fl. has 500 3’s and mass. Has only a hundred BMW will help fl. with more lease cash.
@all. Wow, I’m seeing a “little bit” of disappointment out in the NE huh? I’ll mention this to Dave, but I don’t think he can do much since he’s at the retail end. I would recommend perhaps writing a letter to BMW USA to voice your displeasure.
@jtl. Do you really want me to tell you what I think of your deal after the fact? LOL. Since you are in OC, did you happen to get a quote from Dave to see if he could beat it? Anyway, aside from the training and MACO which some claim that is legitimate, I think the deal was pretty good. The bank fee seems to be different depending on region. I know the training can be waived, since I remember someone managed to get that taken out (or deducted from the cap cost), I’d have to look back at some of the old posts to find out. MACO, from what I understand, is regional advertising. Basically they charge you to advertise to you. haahaa. ridiculous isn’t it? Another thing about MACO is that not all dealers have it. I guess some dealers can choose to participate in it and what not. That’s my understanding of it. Anyway, I know Ford does this and they call it Advertising. Overall, your price is pretty solid. I got no complaints.
Jake I think that those dealers are not being straight with you.
According to edmunds there’s 3005 3 series within 200 miles of NY, 971 3 series within 25 miles of NYC .
2001 3 series within 200 miles of Boston and 262 3 series within 25 miles of Boston.
I think if it is available they just don’t want to give it out.
I leased a 335i on Sunday. Here’s my deal. I called about 6 dealers and this was the best I could do for one the lot that I liked:
Orange County:
2009 335i coupe
Edmunds invoice price plus 180 training and 380 MACO. I tried to get every dealer to waive these and they wouldn’t. $45 Doc Fee. $925 Acquisition Fee, again none of the 6 dealers would waive it. I did get the $29 DMV doc processing fee waived…haha. Because they had not mentioned it initially and I made a fit of them adding fees after the fact. I did get the $2500 lease cash. So final result:
Invoice plus 580 – 2500 = $1,920 under invoice.
Was this a good deal G?
Regarding the Acquisition Fee, what I meant is none of the dealers would lower it from $925 to $725.
is it 2000 plus the awd credit or just the 2000 cash on 328xi???
@dmitry. I believe so, the option credits were on top of the lease cash last month. This month, the lease cash just got bumped to $2k from $1k.
I’m in NY as well, like JTL, but I’ve been getting quotes from Long Island dealerships.
I called up Orange County BMW to get an answer from them on this whole mess – mentioned the JTL’s Sunday sale. Awaiting a response from a “manager”. Will update everyone.
Thanks for all the info everyone, this blog is an AMAZING help.
@R
As a example he ment some markets get more some don’t. (car stock) = lease cash in his words.
nothing 100% but that’s what 2 dealers told me 1 in person the other over the phone. (same story)
MikeO – I’m in Orange County, California!
ahhh man!!! that sucks. oh well, looks like orange county, ny BMW is scratching their head thinking “wtf is that guy talking about”
This is ridiculous! Just because I live in the NE I’m expected to pay almost $30 more a month for the same car as someone on the west coast. BMW should have their feet held to the fire for this. It’s no wonder the car industry has the bad reputation it has when they are pulling stunts like this.
@R. BMW is not alone in this regional rebate offer thing. Toyota does this too from what I understand. Acura/Honda does as well. As a matter of fact, I was hearing that the NE was getting a lot better lease rates than we were here in CA on the TLs at one point. Of course, no one seems to want a TL lol.
I calculated it out, its $48 a month for me with on the current sale price.
I agree it is ridiculous and funny that the salesman I’m working with was taken back when I mentioned it saying “thats very unusual because usually BMW does things across the board”
I think a call to BMWNA is in order today.
Im in NY also and a current bmw leasee… do I get loyalty as well?
@D. I’m not aware of any loyalty cash. I do know that BMW has the tendency to offer existing BMW customers a security deposit waiver on their next lease. I will have to verify with Dave, but that’s what I know as of now.
aaaannndddd they’re useless. Customer Service reps FTL.
Looks like its just a penalty for living in the NE.
G I think you should voice this with your guy at BMW. Tell him there is a lot of unhappy people here and they are loosing sales over this. Maybe he can get through to BMWNA. I’ll be damned if I’ll buy a car from a company who thinks they can gouge me just because of where I live.
@all
New England = great seafood BAD leases lol
I’m going to a lobster boil in the cape hmm…I should put on a dark polo for all that butter (fat basterd)@G I’ll be talking about your site with them all (famly) they still think it’s a crackup seeing my moms camry on the wall.
Love the site you can get guys from coast/coast gettn info on a deal on a damn cell phone wow!
The 335d has an “eco-credit” rebate from BMW of $4500 on ’09 and 2010’s I was told it counts toward leases. May help offset the initial higher cost.
I’d also like to add to CJH’s comment, the eco-credit is not available in all states (let the BMW-hate begin) 🙂
You NE guys….why not find the closest dealer outside your region that offers the $2500/$2000 cash. Make a deal, go pick it up.
when you buy out of state, taxes and plates are pretty much yours to deal with. Out of state dealers can’t really help you too much with that. If you have to ship the car from a far distance, then that’s extra. So the question is, is it really worth the extra $1000-$1500? sometimes it is, sometimes it isn’t. I think if you are within driving distance, it might be worth it since you save on the shipping.
@smitty
as far as I know, maybe G can help? Paying the tax, getting plates ( no temp tags in mass.) shipping etc. is not that easy
$1500 is great, but + all the things I need to do, I rather go in mass. for a lease 1 day done.
please understand it’s not like I don’t wanna get the $. states differ on reg. my state sucks *** .
When will the 335d diesel get some lease support from BMW? The MF sucks right now so does the financing APR.
@supercharger. not sure, still relatively new. plus its more of a “niche” car in my opinion. It may very well keep its high MF for the reminder of the year.
G, thanks for the info! quick Q for you, I was quoted to the following, what do you think?
MSRP: 55,750
Sales: 51,200 (around invoice)
Money Factor: 00160
Residual: 60.5%
Monthly payment: 700
Term: 36 months and 10K/yr
Down payment: 0 (except taxes, first month payment and fees)
@tom. I’m getting around $621 (using 61% residual instead of 60.5%) before sales tax, with inception due at signing. The price isn’t bad, since its pretty much invoice. I’m just wondering how what fees you are being charged and what is being rolled into your loan since your payments are almost $80 more than I would have expected with all fees due at signing.
i forgot to mention, it is a 09 335xi coupe. sorry!
What are “training” and “MACO” fees? I’ve never heard of these. Are they some BS fees unique to BMW leasing?
I have always bought in the past and considered leasing this time. I have been talking to multiple bmw dealers in the state and was wondering if anyone here could tell me if I am getting a good deal on my lease. 09 BMW 335xi. 36 month lease. 12k/year. MSRP $50,500. $2600 down for taxes/fees/dmv/first month after $1000 lease cash. $575/month for 35 months. Or should I scratch the lease all together and buy the car? Thanks for the help!
@newbie. Are you pay all sales taxes up front? Doing a little simple math, I’m assuming you are paying all inception fees and all sales taxes up front. Correct? If so, with an MSRP of 50,500, the sale price should be around $44,050 in order for your payments to be around $575 per month. If that is the case, I think the deal is pretty good. If not, please fill me on the extra details.
Yes I am paying all the sales tax up front(8% here). I was just told Cap Cost is $43,684. MF .0024 and residual 58%. Since I never leased before I was a little hesitant, especially if I could get 1.9% for 60 months to buy the car. I wanted to lease because I seem to always want a new car about every 3 years…just not sure if it is right for me since I may underdrive the mileage on the lease. Thanks!
@newbie. In your case, since you only have $1000 lease cash, I would definitely consider the 1.9% financing for 60 months. However, you should probably commit to keeping the car for at least 6 years. When it comes to buying, you have to keep it for at least 6-7 years before buying becomes cheaper. Otherwise, you’ll get killed in the resale value. When we lease, depreciated and resale value are the bank’s risk, not ours. Anyway, your cap cost is actually lower than my projected sale price, that is a good thing. So, whether you lease or buy, I think you would be walking away with a pretty good deal.
HI G,
I want to pull the trigger on a 335 sedan lease. This is what I’m getting:
$500 over invoice (Not Edmund’s — so I’m sure they will add Training and MACO).
Dealer Fee!!! This particular dealer is charging $599 — I find this ridiculous; but they are standing firm.
Lease Acquisition was initially marked up to $925. They have agreed to $725.
Money Factor: They even marked up the money factor but have now agreed to buy rate.
They will give me $2500 Lease cash
Questions for you (Feel free to e-mail me).
1. Do you have a recommended dealer or contact for Central FL?
2. Is there a way to search BMW inventory? Its so hard to see options on dealer websites.
3. Is there a loyalty MF or additonal cash?
@AH. $500 over invoice after lease cash? No way. Maybe $500 over invoice + lease cash. That would be much better. Yeah dealer fee is pretty ridiculous, unfortunately, some states do not regulate the dealer doc fee, so they can charge whatever they want. That doesn’t even include the MACO + Training which I think its BS.
1) I don’t have any FL dealer contacts at the moment, so your best bet would be request a quote using the Yahoo Autos, Edmunds or BMWUSA’s website. I hope that in the future I can connect with folks out east. Unfortunately, I don’t live there, which makes things a bit difficult.
2) Unfortunately, web inventories rarely reflect the real inventory most dealers have. Best option would be to call and ask.
3) No loyalty cash or MF, but I do believe the security deposit is generally waived if you are an existing BMW customer.
Last Saturday – Concord BMW – 328i coupe
Started at invoice
2000 lease cash
180 training fee
MACO waived
MF at base rate .0015
Acq Fee not marked up 725
Resid 61% (10k miles)
The deals are there if you work it
@charles. very cool that you managed to get the MACO waived. Now I’ve seen both training and MACO waived, so let this be an example that those fees aren’t “required”. Like Charles says, the deals are there, if you work at it. Good job Charles!
Hi G and everyone.
Finally pulled the trigger on the last day of the month.
335 Coupe.
$700 over true invoice (meaning, without any MACO or training fees)
$725 bank acquisition fee (lowered from $925)
7 Multiple Security deposits to lower the money factor down to 0.00116 (from .00165)
Plus licneses and taxes.
I know I could have done a little bit better but the dealer did not have the car of my choice and they had to do a dealer swap for me.
Big thanks to G and everyone else who posted with useful info!
@EO. Awesome! I’m glad you were able to save on the MACO and training, two very ridiculous fees if you ask me. Good call on the MSDs, altho I thought the MF was pretty good already. Of course, if you don’t have any higher yield investments to put your money into, MSDs is a very good place to put your money towards.
I guess all I am waiting for is the pics now 😀
Thanks, G!
How do I post pics?
Questions1.
1. how many keys do you get with a BMW? I only got two full keys.
2. How do i find out the bluetooth code?
Thanks
@EO. You can send them to thewall(at)ridewithg.com and will the typical details most people provide on The Wall posts. Like name/nickname, state, car you got, some details about your deal. Then i’ll create an official post to share with everyone.
1) typically 2 remote keys and 1 valet. Although now with those remote entry keys, its usually just 2 keys.
2) check your manual. that is usually printed in the booklet.
@g
what’s this $1840 lease cash? sedan only?
Nation wide? (sep.)
@jake. the 1840 credit option is for AWD. I believe it’s only for the sedan, but I can’t remember exactly. I know the $1260 credit option for automatic only worked on the sedan, so I’m inclined to say that the credit options were only for the sedans. I haven’t heard anyone not qualifying for it so it is probably nationwide. The lease cash on the other hand is another story.
Thanks, G.
I will send pics 🙂
By the way, can you lease rates on Lexus LS models and MB S550?
Cheer,s
E.O.
@EO. No lease rates yet. I typically start posting them after the 1st week of the month. Stay tuned.
G,
Do dealers typically offer the base money factor or do they mark it up?
@mike. with BMW, you will need 1 security deposit in order to get the base rate. And marking the MF is actually pretty common at some dealerships.
