09 Infiniti G37 Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_infinitiMy Take: Good news, the money factor on the G37 Journey coupe is actually LOWER than I originally thought! .00176! The residual is what I originally reported on my Saturday post, 58% at 36mo/15k miles per year. Cool huh? That means the payments are even less than anticipated. Look for the coupe and the sedan on THE LIST this month. Folks in Nevada and Arizona may want to consider coming out to So Cal for your cars. From what I understand, the dealer doc fee in those states are not regulated, which means dealers can charge you whatever they want. I’ve seen doc fees as high as $600 in those states! In CA, it’s capped at $45 for leases, $55 for purchases. If you decide to make this a weekend trip, I can suggest a few places to visit while you are here. Anyway, if you are within reasonable distance, hit up David Baker for all your Infiniti needs. If not, you can use Yahoo Autos to get quotes from your local dealers (see below).

  1. Thanks G!!

It looks like if I’m getting a new lease, it’s going to be a good month to go for it!! I’m going to go into a couple dealerships next week to start getting into pricing mode. It’s going to be a G37 Sport, I just have to decide how much I’ll allow my 3yr old son in the car 🙂 I’m likely going to add the premium package and spoiler/illuminated kick plates. I’m thinking I’ll spend either 38k or 35k (unless I can grab dealer cash) but the payments are within $15 a month of each other. So I really just need to see the Coupe/Sedan side by side and flip a coin.
Yes I live in Maryland so I really need to check into the taxes. It looks like 6% on the sales price!! OUCH $2k!!

  2. no problem matt. I think u’re gonna end up liking the coupe Haha. 3yr son can live in the backseat if you tint the back (it gets HOT back there). I had the same debate last year. I went coupe because I liked the lines. The sedan just looks…hmmm…bubbly. I had my sales guy park the sedan and coupe side by side for me for a comparo. lol. same color exterior and interior.

definitely look into the tax situation because paying 100% of the car in taxes does change the price tag significantly.

  3. G, do you know that most people are getting on the G37x coupe? I have been hearing ranges from $539 to $553 the first was for a 12k miles with $2k down for $36 months the 2nd with 10k/month and $1500 down. I have a feeling that I can do better, should I come down harder with negotiating a deal?

    Thanks,
    Ashe

    • @ashe. I wouldn’t lease 10k miles per year unless you are 110% sure you will not exceed it. 12k miles a year is limiting enough as is. You can download the new lease calculator right now, I’ve added a Deal Rating to give you a better feel for how the deal is. To be honest, I don’t know if you can or cannot do better. The best way to determine that would be for you to provide me with a MSRP, Sale price, residual and money factor that’s being used to calculate the payments. In most cases, just like buying a car, one can tell a good deal from a bad one when they look at the sale price. If the dealer discounts you a measly $1000 off the MSRP, it’s pretty much a given that you can do better. Anyway, see if you can give be those numbers and I’ll check out for ya.

  4. I am looking to lease or buy a G37x coupe. The dealer is offering 2500 off a MSRP of 42575 for the buy and a 12K per year 36 month lease at 579. What would be considered a good lease or considered a good sale price for the car?

    • @josh. you can do better. That MSRP and invoice price spread is around $3500. So if the dealer is only giving you $2500, they are essentially selling that car at $1000 over invoice. No thanks is what i would say to him/her. The lease seems a bit high, I haven’t run any numbers, but if the sale price is $1000 over invoice, I guarantee you that isn’t a good lease.

  5. What is a good lease price for 12K, G37X COUPE w/ Premium and Wood trim be for 39 months? The dealer is offering 2000 off a MSRP for the lease. How much lower do you think I can go?

    • @henry. There is about a $3500 spread between invoice and MSRP. You probably want to go down to invoice price, so your dealer’s offer isn’t all that great. The general rule of thumb I use is, 10% off MSRP is a good deal, anything above that is icing. I dont’ have lease rates for 39-month terms so I can’t really help with the payment calculations. Your best bet is to get that from the dealer and plug it into the calculator I provide on my site. Let us know how your negotiations go!

  6. This is what I was able to get as of today. At this point I am pitting salesman against salesman at different dealerships. They also keep saying that they are running out of stock to give people a sense of urgency.

“The MSRP for the car is 42,575, but we are selling you the car for 39,202. The money factor is .00223 and the residual is 61%. The monthly payment for your car will will 498 with 2000 out of your pocket plus your DMV fees.”

They are still beating around the bush with the taxes DMV fees, and the money factor. The total at the end of the lease would be close to $24k for 39 months.

    • @ashe. Money factor is too high in my opinion. They need to come down some on that. The sale price is just a few bucks below invoice so its not terrible either. Looks like the $2000 includes some cap reduction. Personally, I would recommend turning that cap reduction into multiple security deposits. I think the money factor is still high enough to put some MSDs to drop it. Based on my conversation with David a few weeks ago, they are still doing MSDs, just not really something most people know of or opt for.

  7. @G, where on the site is the calculator.

Well apparently this month is over so not sure if this term still apply…they calculate the monthly payment to be $599(includes tax, mine is 7%) w/ 1350 due at signing for first month payment and all the fee.

    MSRP : $42,905
    Selling Price: $40,905
    12,000 miles for 39 months

Unfortunately in my area there is only one dealer and another one is 2 and half hours away. The other one manage to lower by 2300. So any suggestion?

    • @henry. the calculator is at the top menu. Sorry i moved things around a bit recently. Anyway, your lease is like over $1000 over invoice. That may very well be the going price in the area. Invoice price is what I would shoot in most metro areas with more than a few dealerships. That’d be about $3300-$3500 off MSRP. As I mentioned to Ashe as well, you probably should consider multiple security deposits. But overall, you are correct, if the price doesn’t drop some more, the deal isn’t that sweet. Based on my calculations. This is what I think would be a decent deal. At least $3000 off MSRP. 12k miles, 36 months, .00207 MF, 62% residual, $542 after 7% tax. Inception fees due at signing. My guess it’ll be around $1500, give or take a few hundred. Remember ask ALL of the questions relating to your lease. Get all the numbers so you can calculate your payments. Savvy lessees usually have a price range in mind that will get them the payment they want. Since most least rates can be found online nowadays (like here), you can calculate the scenario in advance and tell the dealer, this is what I want the car sold for. These are the lease rates I’m using. If theirs differ, you need to ask why. I probably should write up a new, more advanced lease guide about this. It seems that it could help. Anyway. Try dealing with the dealer 2 hrs away. If you can save yourself $1000 more, wouldn’t it be worth it?

  8. @Henry

Infiniti extended the end of the month until Monday Aug 3rd. You can still get the July rates.

  9. G appreciate your inputs. The offer the dealer gave me was a one day deal for July 31. I got feeling they was trying to get this done and best they could do is that.

If you lease it at one dealer, can you return it and do all your other service at another dealer?

    • @henry. yes, you can return the car (if financed through IFS) at any Infiniti dealer. You can also service your car anywhere, doesn’t even have to be at an Infiniti dealership.

  10. Going to try on Monday to see if I can get any last minute deals. If not I am going to pass and just buy a used 08 G37 coupe or sedan.

    • @ashe. 08s are somewhat different than 09s. Personally if you can wait, see what August numbers look like. 09’s have 7-speed tranny instead of the 5. That is a good enough reason to opt for the 09 over the 08. If you plan to buy, you may want to hold out til the last quarter of 09. That’s when the 2010s should be rolling out.

  11. I give up on the G37X, price is way too high in my area. I think I’m going to go w/ BMW 328 xi.

    • @henry. oh no! say it ain’t so! well the 328 is not bad, but i think its still pretty costly too. Hopefully they kept some of the incentives on the 328 this month. There was talk about the $1000 lease cash expiring. I’ll have to double check.

  12. Henry, Don’t despair, I think I am moving on to the Nissan Maxima. No Infiniti dealer seems to be will to give a decent money factor.

    Oh well.

  13. Ashe go w/ the bimmer 😀

Actually G, the cash back incentive was still available when I got my car on August 8. I manage to get the BMW 328xi w/ premium, heated seat, and ipod & usb for $494.50 includes tax per month for 36 months at 12K miles/yrs. Come w/ free maintanance like all BMW car. So overall I save over probably more than $100 bucks a month and still drive a pretty nice car. Although it’s less hp but the handling of a bmw is like no others.

  14. Oh yea here a quote from an Infiniti sale person.

“I can’t and won’t compete with the BMW its a 328 XI not even in the same leauge as the Infiniti G37X .”

    • @henry. I would have to concur with that statement. the G37s are more of the 335’s competitor. Granted C&D likes to compare the 328s with the G37, but in reality the G37 offers more than the 328 does for about the same amount of money. However, right now, with all the crazy incentives BMW is offering, I would pony up a little extra to get the 335 over the G37. The twin-turbo is insanely fast.

  15. I was at an Infiniti dealer in Ft. Lauderdale and was offered the following on a g37 conv. MSRP 51,747.
    lease 39mos. 10k per yr.
$784 mo. pls. tax incl. $2800 down includes first payment. Sounds rather high to me.

    • @richard. yeah the g37 conv just isn’t leasing well right now. David Baker told me last month that they aren’t discounting them much right now because the early production is for the “early adopters” who tend to pay a premium to have the latest and greatest. I would definitely wait maybe until the first quarter of 2010 before inquiring about the G37 conv again.
