My Take: The money factor is starting to drop on the TSX now so keep an eye out this June to see how they may look. If I don’t have them when you need them, check with your dealer. I haven’t had any problems with Acura dealers bumping the MF, so I wouldn’t be too worried about that. The key thing to look for is a MF drop and a steady residual. Keep your eyes peeled.

Some initial quotes over e-mail without much negotiations:
2009 TSX Base Package – Automatic
MSRP: $29,920.00
Sales Price: $27,582.00 + Tax + Fees = $30,580.09
RV: 59%
MF: 0.00198
Months: 36
Miles: 15K year
Down: $2,000 (including inception fees)
Monthly: $390.84 (including CA Tax – 9.25%)

2009 TSX Technology Package – Automatic
MSRP: $32,820
Sales Price: $28,700
RV: 56%
MF: 0.00198
Months: 36
Miles: 15K year

Monthly: $434.39 (including CA Tax – 9.25%)
Total out-of-pocket at lease end: (36*435)+940= $16,600
It looks like the Technology package is a better deal.
Yes. deal 2 is better. deal 1 is actually above invoice. deal 2 is 1500 below invoice. however, deal 2 doesn’t include inception fees. are these coming from the same dealer? assuming the drive-offs were just inceptions fees. Here is what the payments would be…
TSX base – $399 (with 9.25% tax)
TSX tech – $415 (with 9.25% tax)
the inceptions for both should be around the same ballpark. $1300-$1400. You should be able to knock off another $30 bucks per month off the base should you choose to go that route. It only looks better because there’s barely any discount on it.
Here’s an advice for everyone comparing leases.
Step 1. Exclude inception fees from the deal. Have the dealer identify all drive-off costs and pay those off. There isn’t a magic wand that will eliminate those. If you don’t, they get added onto the dealer’s sale price.
Step 2. If any discounts are to happen, make sure it’s on the sale price of the car. Why? Cap cost is fully taxable. If you tax rate is 9%, any cash you put down gets taxed first and then the remainder is applied to cap reduction. Example, you give the dealer $1000 for cap reduction, but in reality, you are only reduction the sale price by $910.
Step 3. Negotiate the sale price. The lower this gets, the lower the payments. Your ability negotiate the price depends on your market, economic climate and rebates.
There is $ 1,250 marketing rebate on the Tech package, that’s why they can go down to around 28K for the Cap Cost.
here is one other quote:
2009 TSX Technology Package – Automatic
MSRP: $32,820
Sales Price: $28,711
RV: 56%
MF: 0.00198
Months: 36
Miles: 15K year
Down: $2,500.00 ($ 640.00 Fees + $ 383.00 First month + $ 1475.00 Cap Cost reduction + THE REST FOR TAX)
Monthly: $383.00 (including CA Tax – 9.25%)
Total out-of-pocket at lease end: (36*383)+2500= $16,288
Chris, the difference between the two is $11 more and cap reduction. please refer to STEP 2 of my previous post.
Overall, how you structure your monthly payment and drive-off costs is up to you. As long as the RV, MF and Sale price check out, are they are doing is making you pay down your own monthly payment.
all right, here is the deal i took after i got tired of looking at various cars and running numbers, and etc…
I took home a 2009 Acura TSX with Tech Package with:
36 month lease with 15K miles per year
MSRP: Just below 33K (i think 32800)
Gross Cap Cost: 28923 (28328 for car + 595 for acquisition)
Cap Cost Reduction: 1516
Adjusted Cap Cost: 27406
Residual: 18379 (56%)
Money Factor: 0.00198
Monthly Payment: 373 including CA Tax (9.25%)
Drive-off: 2500 (fees + first month + cap cost reduction)
Included with the lease was GAP coverage and 1500 excess wear/tear. I managed to have him through in some acura gears as well as wheel locks.
Picked up the car of the color, no other dealer had that color. Vortex Blue Pearl with black ebony interior.
congrats on the new ride chris! Gotta see that vortex blue pearl. i really love Acura’s lease programs due to the 1500 damage waiver ($500 per incident) and GAP. Can’t beat that! There is also no disposition fee. Congrats again, don’t forget to snap a few pics and send them to me to post on THE WALL.
