09 MINI Cooper Lease Rates for March 2009

logo_miniMy Take: Bummer. The Cooper S went up nearly $30 bucks a month (around $1000 over the life of the lease). March isn’t exactly shaping out to be better than February when it comes to leasing. The Cooper is still a fairly affordable lease despite that increase. Just remember, no 48-month lease and watch out for the options. If it were up to me, I would simply order one. In most cases, dealers will let you lock in the March rates and still give you the option to get the new lease rate (for the delivery month) once the car arrives. So in case the lease rates drop, you could end up with a cheaper lease. If not, you can always go back to the March rates.

  1. I have received the MF now from 5 different Mini dealers. They ALL say it’s .00255.

I think the .00219 is wrong.

    Thanks!

  2. Really? I wonder if they require a security deposit to get to the .00219 money factor. Maybe I should shoot an email to my local MINI dealer to see what they got.

  3. I was curious to see how the MF has changed since I leased mine back in September 2008, so I sent an inquiry out to one of the known “highball” dealers in the area. They came back and told me .00300 with a residual of 63%. Huh?? High MF aside, there is no way the MINI has a 63% residual at 24 months.

  4. What? That’s ridiculous. I’ve noticed that some dealers aren’t using BMWFS numbers, I wonder if they get a kickback from the bank or something…

  5. I know the dealers can play games with the MF, but this is first I’ve heard of someone messing with the residual.
