By now, most of you have probably heard about the Chrysler’s “Let’s Refuel America” program, were they lock-in the price of gas at $2.99 for 3 years if you purchase or lease a Chrysler vehicle. The concept is not bad, specially with out gas prices going up 10 to 20 cents a week. Even with a 708 gallon per year cap, the deal is still not terrible. Here in lies the problem, Chrysler is not know to lease cars for low MF and their vehicles have poor residual values. So if you think about it, the “savings” you get from the “Let’s Refuel America” program are pretty meaningless. Certainly, this deal only works for people who pay cash for their cars or get that 0% financing or get hefty cash incentives. But then, you’ll have to BUY the car. For us lesses, its pretty much pointless and borderline “scammy”.

It’s an attempt to conpensate for being the worst (or near worst) overall fuel effecient company in the domestic automobile business.

Chrysler is so pathetic right now. I almost feel sorry how they can’t get their engineering or their designs right. I hope Cerberus can turn things around, if not, maybe they should hire me to their lead designer, at least I got plenty of ideas on how to make them look more attractive. 🙂 That would so rock! That’s my dream job, design cars.
I’m with you G. Didn’t want to bash them too hard but they are horrible right now. They do more parts whoring than I’ve ever seen. Which wouldn’t be so bad if the parts they whored were decent. But they aren’t. Every chrysler vehicle has the same interior using the hardest plastics in the industry. Their engines are heavy, inefficient, and very low tech. Now to their credit they are suppose to be releasing a new 5.7 Hemi with improved power and fuel economy. But 380HP out of a 2009 re-worked 5.7l engine….. no really.
I find it hilarious that they keep pitching the HEMI as this “great” engine. Talk about having lots of sentimental folks at Chrysler.
