09 Infiniti G37 Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_infinitiMy Take: The money factor has dropped on the G37 sedans this month. Good news for those who decided to take the chance and wait for the rates to go down. Remember to stay far away from the 24 month leases, like MB, Infiniti is doing their best to discourage you from leasing for just two years. The sweet spot is the 36-month lease (and possibly the 39 month lease…consult your dealer for those rates). There is $500 in loyalty cash for those who qualify. Again, sorry for not having the payment estimates this month, I am thinking that perhaps I can take a short little break from doing the calculations this month. Of course, I will be more than happy to run some quick numbers for those who are interested. Just leave a comment on this post.

09 BMW 6-Series, 7-Series, M6 Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: M6 rates are looking much better than the 6-series while the 7-series is not looking all that great this month. I’m not really in the mood to post lease estimates right now, so feel free to request a quick calculation if you really need one. There is 0.9% financing on the 650s and the M6 for up to 60 months. Nothing for the 7-series. No cash, nada.

09 BMW S, SL, SLK Class Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_benzMy Take: Couple quick things…I’m going to be skipping lease payment estimates on some of the more “expensive” models because quite frankly, I don’t think most people are here for that. You can still request a quick calculation from me by leaving a comment below each post. Main reason I’m doing this is to cut back on the amount of time it takes me to make one post, which will free me up for other important things. As for the cars, the SLK’s money factor is wicked low this month. .00007! With Mercs, I don’t generally car as much about the residual value since they are usually low 50s or high 40s for the 36-month terms, so you gotta hope and pray that the money factor is ultra low. Remember, the upside to having low residual value and low money factor is that at lease end, your buyout price is fairly low. Which is good if you love the car and want to keep it. No cash is available on the SLK300 right now but 0.9% financing for up to 66 months is there for those who qualify. MB Financial is really pushing the low interest financing this month which runs an extra 6 months compared to other captive banks. Just a FYI in case you are open to financing.

09 BMW X3, X5, X6 Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: Surprisingly enough, the X6 5.0 (improved from last month) and the X5 4.8i (unchanged from last month) have the best lease rates of all the X-Series “Sport Activity” vehicles. Sure, they have a hefty price tag for most people, but if you were shopping around for one, you already knew that. I actually really dig the looks of the X6, love the higher stance, coupe lines and a beefy 5.0 liter engine. This month is a good month for the X6 5.0 (not so much the 3.5 model though). Remember that for most BMWs, the 36-month term is the sweet spot since it has the best residual/term/money factor combination. BMWFS is also offering 2.9% financing for up 60 months on both models, but no customer/dealer cash.

09 Mercedes Benz E-Class Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_benzMy Take: The E-Class Bluetec, Wagon and AMG models have a DO NOT LEASE recommendation this month due to low residual and high money factors. It doesn’t really come as a surprise since that’s been the case for months now. If you plan to lease, stick with the sedans. Remember, the majority of MBs have extremely low residual values compared to the competition, which is normally a bad thing in the leasing world. The good news is that MB Financial also has the tendency of offering exceptionally low money factors. These conditions make them great candidates for “lease-to-own” because most of your payments go towards the principal of the loan. When it comes time to end the lease, the residual value will be fairly low, making the decision to buy the car at lease-end (should you choose to) an easier one. I will spend some time this month explaining the whole “lease-to-own” concept once I am done posting most of April’s lease rates. Going back to the E-Class, there is $6000 dealer cash available for those who finance through MB Financial. There is also 0.9% financing for up to 66 months! This makes purchasing quite attractive if you think about it. You could pay 0.9% for 66 month and own the car at the end of your loan, OR you could pay 0.432% for 48 months, then make a balloon payment of the remaining 38% of your residual value in order to avoid paying interest. Tough call, I guess it all depends on whether you can afford to pony up that much cash at lease end. Of course, you can simple walk away and hop into another new Benz (ahh, the joys of leasing!). Lastly, the 2010 E-Class should be out soon (complete with brand new square headlights!) so I suspect some good discounts should be attainable on the 2009 model.

2010 Mercedes Benz GLK-Class Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_benzMy Take: I’m sure some of you have probably seen the GLK-Class TV commercials by now. I’m a bit torn on the looks…On TV, it looks great; roughed, sporty, with a little bit of the C-Class Sport flair. In pictures, it looks a bit odd, like the nose doesn’t fit the rest of the package. The cabin seems to look a bit too tall for it’s own good, making the exterior design look somewhat top-heavy. In person, well, I haven’t seen it in person so I will probably have to reserve my comments until I get around to see it. In any case, the lease rates are hideous, so I would recommend stay far far away from this ride until the money factors cool off a bit.

09 Mercedes Benz C-Class Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_benzMy Take: Bummer! the C-Class money factors went up this month for almost every car except the C350. This means that if you missed out on the C350 the past couple of months, you get another month to renegotiate a better deal. (Last month’s lease rates) Like last month, assuming you are trying to keep your lease payments below $500 a month, the sweet spot on the C350 would be the 48-month lease. Lets have a quick little recap here…

C350 – Black – Premium 2 Package – Panorama Sunroof – AMG 18″ 5-Twin-Spoke Wheels – 6-Disc In-Dash CD Changer – iPod Integration Kit – 48 months/12k miles.

MSRP $44,120
Invoice $41,093
Sale Price $39,120
Residual 47%
Money Factor .00084
Tax Rate 9.25% So Cal Tax (went up 1% for us, lame!)

Monthly $433 (base payment) + $40 (tax) = $473 per month (with inception fees due at signing)

Now, lets say you can’t get the dealer to drop it down to $2k under invoice and only manage about $1k instead (keep in mind that all markets are different). No biggie, your monthly payments would be $454+tax. In my case, it would be around $497, which puts me just shy of $500. Still a solid deal if you ask me. If you choose not to roll in your inception fees, expect to pay around $2000 to cover all the bank/dealer/gov’t/dmv fees + 1st month payment.

09 BMW 5-Series Lease Rates – April 2009

logo_bmwMy Take: I got a few questions last month regarding the M5 and I wanted to give you guys the news. The money factor stayed the same and the residual value dropped 1% on the 24-month term and stayed the same on the 36-month term. There isn’t any customer cash available this month, but BMWFS is offering 0.9% APR for up to 60 months for those who qualify. If you have considered lease-to-own, you might want to consider buy it. I know it’s going to cost a lot more per month, but you do get to keep the car, which isn’t a bad thing since it IS the M5. As for the rest of the 5-series line up, the residual values have dropped about 2%, with the money factors carrying over from March. That means, higher monthly payments. Oddly enough, April isn’t looking like a good month for the 3-series or the 5-series.
