logo_infiniti My Take: As I was mentioning in the MB ML post, you should do a little comparing when shopping around. Some lease rates may looks pretty good, but when you factor in all the crazy fees, other models (you probably didn’t consider) may end up being the better bargain. Say you were shopping for the ML, then looked at the FX35 (a little bit smaller, but still a great SUV). As you start crunching numbers, you will notice that MB charges $1095 for their bank fee for most states, while IFS charges about $595. The FX35, well-equipped, will probably run you a bit cheaper too due to the lower money factor, even if the residual value is 1% less than the ML350. This is just an example, there are many other models to consider, such as the X5, MDX and the Q5/Q7 to name a few.

logo_benz My Take: I’ve picked out some of the following models as “decent” leases for the month. As usual, the leases with high residual values (.00200+) should be avoided. Those above .00100 may need some MSDs to make them a bit more affordable. Residual values for all Mercedes Benz are typically fairly low, so don’t expect any crazy-cheap leases. Don’t forget to do a little shopping for comparable models from other brands to see if its worth the extra cash to be seen in a Benz.

Here are some of the notable models you should probably look into:

ML350, ML350 4matic, R350, CLK Convertibles, SL550 and non-AMG SLKs.

I might consider doing away with “THE LIST” since there haven’t been CAN’T-MISS deals lately. The 2009 E-Class, 2009 3-series, 2009 Acura TL and 2009 C350 were probably the best all-around deals this year. Other honorable mentions are the G37, Accord and Camry. As you can see, most of the better deals occured in the 1st half of the year (which I consider the best time to lease), so you probably won’t be seeing great deals on the 2010 until sometime next year.

logo_benz My Take: These numbers are almost identical to last month’s. The GL550 does get a little love from MBFS, but the rest pretty much the same. I’m really bummed about the GLK still; The car isn’t that new anymore and it’s not like it’s flying off the lots. I still don’t get it. If MB would cut the MF in half, I think you’ll probably see more GLKs bring moved. Look at what Audi is doing with the Q5, the money factor on those is insanely low. Anyway, besides the GL450/GL550, I would suggest passing on the rest. September isn’t the month for GLKs or GL diesels.

2010 Mercedes Benz C-Class Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_benz My Take: For those who waited on the 2010 C-Class last month, you just saved yourself some cash. The residual value on the C stayed the same (GOOD) and the money factor dropped 0.00035 points for practically all trims in the 36 and 48 month terms (except the C63, which is expected). The drop of the money factors saves you about $21 per month. The Lease Calculator rates a C300 Sport with Premium 2 package (sold at invoice) at 1.32 rating, which is just “Average”. This means, there’s room to go down, but it won’t kill you if you really want it. Remember, this is contingent on you getting at least invoice as the sale price and paying your usual $2000 (or so) inception fees.

logo_benz My Take: Some old thing, different month. The only noticeable change is the 60-month term, where the money factor drops from 0.00395 to 0.00385. My recommendation is to pass on this, but if you are really in need of the E-Class and simply can’t live without one right now, wait until the very end of the month and try to get as close to invoice as possible. Avoid sale events (such as Labor Day) since the busier a dealership is, the less likely they are to cut you a nice deal.

09 Infiniti G37 Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_infiniti UPDATE: G37 lease rates updated. IFS modified the money factor and residual on some of their trims (such as the G37 convertible) to make it more attractive.

FYI – I will be traveling to the Bay Area tomorrow and will be gone for the weekend. Just a reminder that end of the month is probably the best time to pull a deal so get to it! I think the G37s are a good lease this month, so if you can get a good invoice price or lower, I suggest that you pull the trigger on it. Who knows what it will look like in September.

My Take: Word is that the lease rates for the G37 have stayed the same as July (not surprising since that was the case last year as well). It is still a bit early in the month, so I will update this post if there are any changes. For people within driving distance of the Los Angeles area, you might want to read the August 09 Announcements (if you haven’t already) for information on David’s sale price for the G37 coupes. I think it’s a very good price considering so many people have been getting over-invoice pricing. Oh, if you are a “Facebooker”, be sure to join the RIDE with G page!

2010 Acura RDX Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_acura My Take: If this month’s RDX lease were a vaccum, it would out perform my Dyson DC17. That’s how much it sucks. I am not even sure MSDs can safe this deal from looking as horrendous as it does. Here’s a quick rating for you based on a 36-month/15k mile lease, using invoice as the sale price…1.46 or a BAD Rating. Remember that I am assuming that the dealer would actually sell it at invoice. That’s $2587 off MSRP. Feel free to take a pass on the RDX this month.
