October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Toyota RAV4

My Take: The money factor on the RAV4 is pretty weak this month. Sure, the residual is high, but why on earth would you want to pay 6.36% APR on a car nowadays? Think about it, the Fed Rate is 1.5%!!!! Anyway, just so food for thought in case you where looking to lease a 2009 RAV4.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 08/09 Toyota 4Runner

My Take: Alright, the 08 4Runner is looking like a decent lease this month due to the $2500 customer cash that’s available on it. The bad news is that you can’t combine it with the special financing that’s available. By special I mean 0% for up to 48 months and 0.9% for up to 60. That’s pretty special if you ask me. Folks, Toyota is offering some seriously CRAZY financing right now so its a good time o BUY your car as well (if you aren’t too worried about resale value of course). If you are, then lease away!!! It’s not a bad time since MF is low and there’s $2500 cash to offset the low residual value. Keep in mind that the numbers I’m working with below will include the $2500 discount into my calculations.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 VW Tiguan

My Take: Tiggy is looks pretty good this month. The MF is not bad at all (around 3.24%) and the residual is good, making the depreciation fairly low. The uncool part is that the “middle of the road” SE 4motion starts at a whopping 29k. The good news is that there isn’t too much more you can add to the Tiguan at that point, maybe a $1300 pano sunroof and/or a $2000 navi. Which should set you back another $50 bucks or so. Nothing you can’t live without.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Mazda6 GT

My Take: The Mazda6 GT’s numbers look decent for October. The money factor is fairly low and the residual is passable. And of all family sedans, this is probable the best looking one too. It will set you back more than $30k if you add options because the price tag starts at $28,930. I think snagging this ride at invoice is possible due to the current economic times, but there aren’t any rebates to be had, so you will need to work a bit harder on those negotiation skills. Keep in mind the sweet spot is the 36 month lease, so don’t go beyond that. Like always, remember to confirm the rates and negotiate a LOWER SALE PRICE! Not monthly payment!!! You should know by now that when you negotiate monthly payments, 9 times out of 10 you will overpay.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Acura MDX

My Take: MDX is not a good lease this month. Just look at the money factor. It doesn’t help that this is the 2008 model, so the residual values are reaching the lowest point of the year. If you have been following this blog for some time or have been leasing for a while, you know these two numbers make for a seriously bad lease. Pass!

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 VW Jetta, Acura RDX and Toyota Prius

My Take: Couple of things…the Prius lesses well because of the high residual value, but the money factor is pretty high in my opinion. Lower than Honda’s standard lease rate, but high nonetheless, so watch out for that. The RDX looks like it needs further money factor reduction to make it more attractive. It isn’t horrible, but I the lower residual value doesn’t help keep the costs down. Lastly, the Jetta TDI (for those who live in states that have them) seems like an excellent lease with a .00148 mf and fairly high residual values. Remember to lease it for no more than 36 months because VW’s Warranty is only 3 years.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Honda Accord Coupe

My Take: The money factor on the Accord coupe isn’t looking very good. It gets worse if you try to lease the car for more than 36 months. The residual value is fairly high, so it will help offset the higher money factor. Personally I prefer a slightly higher residual value than a slightly lower money factor. A 1% residual increase is a far better discount than say .0001 money factor reduction.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Lexus RX350 and Toyota Camry

My Take: Sorry folks, I haven’t had the time to make up payment estimates (life of getting in the way), so I will be posting the rest of the lease rates I have. I can say that the rates look pretty good here for the RX350 and the Camry. Residuals are fairly high and money factors are pretty low. This makes for a nice leasing combination. Stay tuned for more lease rates I’ve found. Will be posting them shortly.
