2010 Acura RDX Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_acuraMy Take: If this month’s RDX lease were a vaccum, it would out perform my Dyson DC17. That’s how much it sucks. I am not even sure MSDs can safe this deal from looking as horrendous as it does. Here’s a quick rating for you based on a 36-month/15k mile lease, using invoice as the sale price…1.46 or a BAD Rating. Remember that I am assuming that the dealer would actually sell it at invoice. That’s $2587 off MSRP. Feel free to take a pass on the RDX this month.

09 Volkswagen CC Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_vwMy Take: I am very surprised to see how crummy the residual values are for the VW CC. I know production has probably ended on the 2009 models, but still, we’re talking 40s on a 36-month lease! Sure, the money factor does help, but I’m not sure if it really helps much. A quick crunching of numbers gives the CC Luxury (using TMV price as the sale price) a 1.34 rating on my lease calculator. That puts it in the “AVERAGE” range. Basically, you gotta knock off about $5000 of the MSRP this month in order to get this into the GOOD DEAL range. I don’t think that’s likely to happen. The Sport is even worse, getting a 1.41 using TMV as sale price (TMV is actually lower than invoice). Anyway, I’m not going to recommend the CC this month as a lease. Way too much for way too little.

09/10 Lexus ES and IS C Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_lexusMy Take: ES350 lease rates look pretty decent. Money factor is pretty low so you know you won’t be getting nailed with a lot of financing charges. Residual is a bit low too, but certainly not a surprise since we’ve already begun the 2nd half of the year. Invoice price should be attainable in most areas with decent competition since this car is probably nearing end of production (or possibly already ended production). I’m not going to say much about the IS C because it is clearly too soon to be talking about this car.

09 Mazda CX-9 Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_mazdaUPDATE: Found the Grand Touring lease rates and the rest of the 48-month numbers. My Take: There is $2000 in lease cash available on the CX-9 right now, which makes this lease pretty decent since the money factor is rather low. Mazda seems to be clearancing the 2009 CX-9s in order to make room for the 2010s, so you can probably get invoice+lease cash fairly easily. I wouldn’t be surprised if you were to milk some more off the price tag.

09 Volkswagen Jetta Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_vwMy Take: I’m liking the Jetta’s lease rates much better than the Accord. Sure, the Jetta isnt’ exactly in the same class as the Accord in terms of size, performance and liability, but if you don’t exactly need a car the size of the Accord, I think the Jetta would be more than adequate for hauling a family of four. A fully loaded Jetta SE should run you about the same as an Accord EX-L V6, but as a lease, it will probably be much cheaper. Assuming MSRP and Sale Price between the Accord and Jetta are the same, the Jetta would be about $44 cheaper per month, or $1584 over the life of the lease.

Volkswagen is currently providing a $750 cash incentive on leases of 2009 Jetta Sedans with automatic transmissions and $1,250 on leases of Jetta Sedans with manual transmissions through VW Credit (Even more reason to lease a Jetta right now). This cash is not available on TDI models.

09 Honda Accord Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_hondaMy Take: Not bad, but not great. The residual values have taken a hit on the Accord since we’re entering the 2nd half of the year. The money factors are lower than before, but I see this reduction mainly to compensate for the drop of residual. There is $1500 dealer cash, but you can’t use it for special financing. Chances are, you won’t be able to use for leasing though, but I would double check with your dealer to be sure. In my experience, dealers are fairly open about lease cash, factory cash and incentives. They are a bit more secretive about their money factors, even more so than the residual values. Of course, not all dealers are like that, just some. Going back to the Accord, I can’t seem to get myself to recommend it because the rates aren’t very attractive.

09 Audi TT Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_audiMy Take: There has been a slight drop in the MF for some of the TT models, such as the TT 3.2L quattro Prestige, where the MF drops from 0.00202 to 0.00184. Significant, but not exactly a deal-maker. The residuals remain unchanged for the most part. Not a bad thing, but then again, not all that great either since the residuals are really low to begin with.  Here is where things get a little interesting…AFS is offering $3000 dealer cash which can combined with the $2000 loyalty cash. It can’t, however, be used with the special 1.9% financing for 60 months (although I believe the loyalty cash still applies for both leasing and financing). If you aren’t a current Audi customer, you’re pretty much screwed. If you are, then the deal isn’t half bad. Just a reminder, we are getting closer and closer to year end, which mean, lots and lots of 2009 models have ended production. This mean, whatever its on the lot, is pretty much it. Keep that in mind as you decide whether to lease/buy now or wait a few months.

09 Acura TL Lease Rates – August 2009

logo_acuraMy Take: Pretty much the same as last month. The $2000 dealer cash, which can be used for a lease, is still in effect last I heard. Please refer to this post to get an idea of what a good price should be. Also keep in mind that the sale price does vary from state to state so do not expect So Cal prices if you live in like Wyoming or somewhere were competition is practically non-existent. Yes, the design is controversial, but I’m sure some of you can grow to love it. Just look at Allan’s new TL, he had the dealer paint the silver grill black and it looks WAY better!
