logo_honda My Take: Honda is currently providing 0.00127 money factor for those of you who opt for a “Sign and Drive” (Acura is doing the same). That’s good since it saves you some money and requires nothing out of pocket. When it comes to leasing, it is preferred to avoid putting money down because in the event of a “total-loss” accident or theft, you may not get back the money you’ve put down. There was very good discussion last month in the forums regarding this topic, be sure to read about it. In any case, the numbers look solid so don’t miss out.

On a side note, I did check out the Crosstour last month and came away with mixed feelings. It is a pretty big car, it looks better from the front than from the back. I didn’t get to drive it, but my guess is that it won’t drive too different from an Accord V6. Here’s a payment scenerio in case you were curious as to how much it would cost to lease one of these…

MSRP $34,730
Invoice $31,527
Payments $377 + tax with inception fees due at signing (estimated at around $1500).
Sign & Drive $416 + tax

This is assuming 36mo/36k miles and the car being sold at invoice.

FYI – Just a reminder that if you opt for the “Sign & Drive”, your MF drops 0.00010. This seems to be the case across the board, with almost all models. I’m sure HondaHarry can confirm this. There are also rebates to be had so make sure to check Edmunds or ask your local dealer for more information.

logo_benz My Take: SLK300 looks might good right now, just in time for the spring and summer season! Residual is BETTER than the TT and there is practically only about a buck worth of interest per payment. Can’t beat that! If you are considering the TT or any other luxury roaster, you should seriously consider the SLK.

logo_audi My Take: Leasing a Q5/Q7 just got a little bit more expensive thanks to a full 1% drop in residual and a nearly unchanged money factor. I’m not seeing any rebates on Edmunds either, so feel free to try your luck with a 3rd party lender to see if things are better.

logo_audi My Take: Hurray for super-low money factors! And that’s about it. Residuals leave a lot to be desired, but this shouldn’t come to you as a shock by now. Unless you are looking at a TDI model or the ever popular A4s, you probably won’t see residual going too far above 50% for the 36-month term. Earlier in the month, George Adams requested a quick estimate of what a R8 would cost to lease. Well George, don’t get too excited. Lets assume best case scenerio here…$123,600 MSRP, $115,179 invoice, .00255 MF, 35% Res (10k per year)….$2401 per month + tax. And I didn’t even add the inception fees yet. Your best bet? Go with a 3rd party lender like US Bank, Wells or use LeaseCompare to see if you can get more attractive rates because 0.00255 isn’t that hard to beat.

logo_audi My Take: A3, A4, S4, A5, S5 numbers pretty much remain the same for the month of March. Residual will never be as high as we would like, but the money factor is low. Buying out the lease at the end wouldn’t be a bad idea should you decide to keep the car long-term.

logo_benz My Take: Nothing really stands out as a “WOW” this month. Numbers have come down on some models (like the GLK350), so it may be a good time to drop by your MBZ dealer and check things out. I remember when the GLK numbers were down right insulting, now they are more civilized. The rest of the bunch aren’t too bad, just avoid the ones with 0.00200+ money factors and you’ll be in good shape.

On a different note, MBZ sales are dragging according the Dave Persaud, who recently went over to MBZ of Long Beach from LB BMW. The situation is so bad right now that switching industries isn’t out of the question. Maybe right now is the time to move in and take advantage of some of the better deals out there (I’m really digging the C-Class right now as a lease). I personally hope him (and others like him) stick around, but the auto industry as a whole is really suffering due to unemployement and the overall state of the economy.
