My Take: Residual are high on the Forester so Subaru doesn’t feel the need to provide any relief on the interest. Depending on your sale price, these cars can be very attractive leases right now. Just keep in mind that at the end of your lease, you probably don’t want to buy this car since it’s the payoff would be too high.

2010-11 Volkswagen Lease Rates – October 2010

My Take: VW is trying to unloaded the Passat since a NMS (New Midsized Sedan) that is being assembled in the US is probably going to be released for the 2011 model year. Pretty exciting stuff. The residuals suck, but the MF is awesome and there’s lease cash to offset the bad residual. This is a good combination should you decide to keep the Passat at lease-end.

2011 Volvo Lease Rates – October 2010

My Take: Rman850r comes through yet again with some Volvo numbers for this month. There is $500 loyalty cash on all 2011 Volvos plus an additional $500 in dealer cash on the S80, C70, and C30 which can be combined with leases. Certainly not the best looking numbers in the industry, bit I’ve seen worse. Volvo really needs to drop that money factor down by a good 0.001 points in order to get more leases going. The products have been improved and they are actually more desirable now, but as a lease it’s not working too well. Alternatively, it looks more attractive since you could BUY a Volvo by financing it at 2.9% financing over 72 months, which isn’t half bad. But a straight up cash purchase would be a wiser move.

On a different note, I LOVED the XC60 when I saw it at the OC Auto Show. It’s so stylish and the interior quality is superb. Light years away from what they used to be less than 10 years ago. From the outside, it looks sleek and stylish. From the inside, it’s spacious, comfortable, modern and ergonomic; what a true crossover SUV should be. It isn’t overly luxurious, but it isn’t cheap either; maybe comparable to current BMW interiors.

My Take: I’m a bit surprised to see how high the money factor is still. Not sure I would recommend it unless a lot of lease cash and discounts can be had since the numbers don’t look too favorable this month.

Update: Very minor MF changes on the Audi rates. If you were using the previous numbers posted, you probably won’t noticed much of a difference since we are talking changes of 0.00001 on the MF.

My Take: Audi lease rates have carried over from last month. The A3 is the best lease in my opinion because the residual is strong and the money factor is very low. The other models could use a lower money factor in order to make them a little bit more enticing.

Update: 2011 Maxima SV numbers added. There should be some cash available, but the MF stinks so it doesn’t matter too much.

My Take: Nissan rates look so-so this month. The residuals are great, but the money factors seem a bit high. Not exactly unexpected since these are 2011. I would probably recommend holding off on the 2011 for a few months and look into the 2010s for now, there should still be some 2010s available at your local dealer. If you can’t find one, you may want to try a broker.

My Take: Numbers look like they have changed a little bit for the Sonata this month. MF got a bump, but so did the residual (which is odd but not unheard of). It is not uncommon to see residuals increase on occasion since the resale value of cars can go up depending on their popularity. The new rates did not change the payments much (less than $1 increase in the monthly payments) so the Sonata remains a good value.

My Take: I personally think the CX-9 is a pretty good deal for a 7-passenger SUV. At the OC Auto Show, I spent some time looking over the entire vehicle and I liked it much better than it’s competitors (Traverse/Acadia/Explorer/Highlander). You should be able to get a low sale price on one of these, plus the money factor isn’t half bad. The residual could use some work, but then again, we are nearing the end of the year so you can’t expect too much. Per my calculations, you would be looking at a monthly payment of about $350-$400 with your inception fees due at signing for a AWD Touring model. I think the CX-7i is a complete wasted effort from Mazda. Why bother dropping such a weak engine on a crossover? Ridiculous.
