2011 Kia Lease Rates – June 2011

As I was saying on the Hyundai page, the Sonata, seems to be the better lease in terms of payments. However, many folks like the styling on the Optima better, plus the added options (panoramic sunroof, cooled seats, etc…) seem to make this lease “worthwhile” to some. However, I can’t really get myself to recommend a $400+ a month lease of a $30k Kia since that’s almost luxury car territory (think G37).

In terms of Buying-To-Lease, I think it’s a pretty good deal if you plan to keep the car long term (and why not? The warranty is 10 yrs!). The interest rate is minuscule (about 0.77%) and a good 53% of the vehicle’s cost is being financed at that rate, which is great. Considering the lowest financing promo rate on the Optima is 1.9% right now, I think leasing for three years then buying off the rest make more financial sense. The only exception would be if you paid cash upfront.

The Legacy 2.5i Premium lease rates look rather good this month. Even with a measly $1000 off MSRP discount, you are still getting a pretty good deal on the lease. The V6 is more fun to drive, but if you need AWD and are on a tight budget, this might be a good compromise.

UPDATE: Added Sonata SE Turbo and Elantra GLS. Sonata SE Turbo remains the same as last month. Elantra GLS should be an EXCELLENT lease , even without a big price discount. Check out the updated sample calculations section to get an idea as to how much the Elantra would could you.

Here are the latest numbers on the Sonata NA models. Looks like a minor drop in residual value, but still better than most cars. I noticed a slight drop in sale prices around my area in the last couple of days, which should help with the payments. The $250 customer cash should still be available. More numbers will be posted as they become available.

Kia residuals, as expected, aren’t very high. However, cash incentives and reasonable money factors make them a decent lease. I personally prefer the Sonata over the Optima due to its more refined cabin. But the exterior styling of the Optima speaks volumes as to how much Kia has progress in the past few years. The lease cash ends 7/5, so if you are looking for a Kia Optima, now isn’t a bad time to start shopping.

2011 MINI Lease Rates – May 2011

If you were expecting the Countryman to lease well, think again. A base model already starts in the low $300s, so once you add on a few options, expect to pay upwards of 400s. Not sure I would recommend this, specially since the RWG rating is so crummy. I’d give it a pass for now. The Cooper seems much more promising since it has a lower mf and a much higher residual.

2011 Mercedes-Benz Lease Rates – May 2011

April numbers were not released by LeaseCompare last month, so I wasn’t able to post them. However, it doesn’t seem to have mattered since May numbers look similar to March numbers. So I am assuming April was the same as March. This is a good thing because the sale prices have come down significantly since then and the lease rates remain the same.

Just compare the lease between the C300 Sport’s March and May leases and you will see what I mean.

LeaseCompare has only release the numbers for the 2012 models. Still looking for the 2011 models, so this list is incomplete. Personally don’t like any of the leases on the 2012 models right now. Discounts aren’t there, plus the residuals have come done quiet a bit compared to previous years. I would recommend inquiring about remaining 2011 models before considering a ’12 model since the discounts should be much better.

2011-12 Audi Lease Rates – May 2011

As noted in my Trading-In Your Lease post, Audi discourages lesses from selling their leases to other dealers by quoting a higher payoff when you try to trade-in your lease to non-Audi dealers. So if you don’t plan to keep your Audi lease until the end of your lease, I would recommend skipping them.

With that said, no astronomical changes in this month’s rates. The usual drop in residual and a slight bump in the money factor on most cars. There is still a lot of loyalty cash in play (plus LeaseCompare has some fleet incentives too) and you should expect “lower-than-last-month” sale prices for all 2011 models to help offset the lower residual/higher mf combo.
