36 Month – Residual 57% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate

2009 Nissan Murano SL 2WD
24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 52% of MSRP – .00250 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 41% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate
60 Month – Residual 36% of MSRP – .00270 Base Rate

My Take: The Murano is arguably the best crossover on the market right now. (according to C&D) This speaks volumes about the improvements Nissan has gone through over the past decade. 10 years ago, I would have never even considered a Nissan, not I’m driving one. Sure, the are still some quality issues, but we know the folks in Japan are paying attention…unlike what GM and Ford have been doing for the past decade or two. I think Nissan knows this too, just look at the MF. The residuals aren’t too bad though.

** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: I remember the days when the GS first came out. It was an attractive sedan, sporty and luxurious. Over time, it’s popularity shifted over to the IS and the GS became the “forgotten” sedan. Not so many of them on the road anymore, compared to the IS (they are freaking everywhere). With poor residual value and high MF. It’s popularity will probably stay the same for a few more years.

My Take: There is nothing attractive about the July rates on the 5-series. There may be a MF reduction for returning BMW customers, but other than that, I would hold out for a better deal down the road.

July 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Land Rover Range Rover

Land Rover Range Rover HSE
24 Month – Residual 58% of MSRP – .00024 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 48% of MSRP – .00135 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 39% of MSRP – .00177 Base Rate

Land Rover Range Rover Sport HSE
24 Month – Residual 62% of MSRP – .00165 Base Rate
36 Month – Residual 52% of MSRP – .00242 Base Rate
48 Month – Residual 42% of MSRP – .00266 Base Rate

* Residuals posted are for 15K miles/year. Add 2% to Residual for 12k mi/yr and 3% for 10k mi/yr on all terms
** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Now is as good a time as any to jump into a Range Rover HSE for 24 months. The MF is LOW. The Residual is not too bad if you opt for the 12k yearly miles on the 24mo lease. This probably the better deal of all the SUV lease rates I’ve encountered thus far. I don’t like Range Rovers personally, then again, I don’t like many SUV’s…I’m more of car guy.

July 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Cadillac Escalade

** Rates provided by Tarry Shebesta from Leasecompare.com

My Take: Earlier (on the Cayenne post) I recommended this over a Porsche (the world is gonna end!). I do want to point out that it was ONLY from a financial stand point. Porsche’s are like hot women, you only kick them out of bead for the right reasons. The Cayenne’s MF only a tad higher than the Escalade’s, but the residual is over 6% lower in every term. That’s a lot of pocket change right there! The downside is that these Escalades are 2WD and the Cayenna comes in AWD, but that only matters if you live in cities with extreme weather conditions.

My Take: I wouldn’t lease a Cayenne this month. Not only are the money factors unattractive (.00260 across the board), the residual is really low, making this a pretty expensive lease considering it’s price tag. A better option could be the X5, or better yet, the Escalade and the Land Rover seem to lease for significantly less. (OMG!!! I recommended a GM and Ford over a Porsche and BMW!!!!)

July 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Honda Accord LX

Honda Accord LX
36mo/15k –  money factor .00186 – residual 58%

My Take: The MF fairly reasonable for the month of July and the residual is still strong (60% for 12k yearly miles). Is a fantastic deal like Honda commercials claim it is? Not really, but they can find your lost beagle, shuck you some oysters and what not, that WOULD BE a great deal.

My Take: The MF is not too bad, but it seems to be the Infiniti EX35 is a better deal right now. The RX350 has been one of the most popular crossovers (if not the most) for quite some time. It’s magnificently egg-shaped styling allows plenty of cargo space and luxury that is unparalleled. With that said, I don’t think I’d ever get one, not very fond of it the “egg-shaped” styling even though it’s functional.
