October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Nissan Maxima

My Take: These rates are actually as of Sept 30th, since Tarry posted them a bit late. I’ll keep an eye out for the new numbers in case they pop up. In the meantime, feel free use this as “reference”. There isn’t any lease support anyway, so the lease should get cheaper over time.

UPDATE: The rates have indeed stayed the same as last month for the Maxima. Nothing to cheer about really. Maybe next month they’ll drop the MF a bit and keep the residual the same. That would be a good way to get these rides moving.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Mercedes Benz ML-Class

My Take: Nothing to get too excited about here. You may get discounts on the sale price, but that MF and residual effectively offset any discounts you get. Pass. May want to try Leasecompare.com to see if 3rd party bank rates are better.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Honda Odyssey

My Take: No deals here on the Odyssey. You may be able to get a decent sale price, but you won’t get any help in the residual/mf department. As with most Hondas, watch out for the models with RES. The residual values drop significantly, which will make your payments jump.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Subaru WRX STi

My Take: There is about $500 worth of dealer contribution available for the STi. Whether the dealer wants to contribute is a whole other story. I’m willing to bet that as we approach the end of the month, they will be motivated to do so.
Rates are pretty mediocre right now, so you will have to rely heavily on your negotiating skills to get yourself a decent deal out of this. I wouldn’t exactly hold my breath thought. Don’t forget about MSDs, they can really help lower the monthly payments. It beats using your money as cap cost reduction.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Infiniti QX56

My Take: Found something interesting on the QX56. Infiniti’s rates are actually higher than those of third party banks. I won’t bother to calculate the payments since I think this SUV is way too expensive to actually lease, but I will post the numbers. You can do some comparison yourself by visiting Leasecompare.com.

Lease Rates through third party

36 Month – Residual 37% of MSRP – .00261 Base Rate

2008 Infiniti QX56 AWD
36 Month – Residual 38% of MSRP – .00261 Base Rate

FINAL THOUGHTS: The 36-month lease hits the sweet spot, with the same residual as IFS, but a lower money factor. So what are the disadvantages of leasing through a third party bank? Possible disposition fee and lack of GAP coverage (in most cases). You can compensate for the lack of GAP coverage by purchasing it through your insurance company.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Toyota Highlander & 4Runner

My Take: There is some cash rebates available for the 4Runner and the Highlander. With the 4Runner getting a $2500 rebate and the Highlander $1000. Low MF and the rebates help offset the uninspiring residual values. The 4Runner seems to be looking better than the highlander. Without options, you’re looking at mid-$300s after taxes for 36mo/15k. Add a few options and drop to 12k per year and you should be a well equipped 4Runner at around high-$300s after tax.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Audi Q7

My Take: To be honest, now is not the time to lease an Audi SUV. Knowing how much these SUV’s go for, they certainly won’t be good leases unless lower MF is introduced and cash rebates are given to compensate for the poor residual values. No cash is available on this model, however, you can get 4.9% financing for up to 60 months. Whether you lease or buy, there’s not much of a “deal” here.

September 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Honda CR-V

My Take: The numbers aren’t looking very good on the Honda CR-V this month, so I’m not going to bother estimating payments, unless it’s requested. The residual is strong, but the MF is Honda’s standard rate, which means no lease support. Can’t blame them, the CR-V is a solid crossover SUV that’s fair efficient with gas and has pretty good cargo space. It’s not bad to look at either. I think the sweet spot (if you can call it that) would be the 36 and 48 months since the residual values drop “only” about 8%.
