October 2008 Lease Rates for 09 Audi A4

My Take: The lease rates for the 09 Audi A4 seem to be the same as last month. Many folks have been getting quotes this month for the same residual values and the same money factors. Keep this in mind: The base rate can be attained by putting a security deposit, in some cases, you don’t even have to. AudiCare will increase the residual value of any trim you select by 1%, but it will cost you about $650. To keep things in perspective, an oil change from Audi costs about $80.00, as a SPECIAL…not cheap. It pretty much pays for itself. Anyway, I will update this post if the rates change over the course of the month, but I highly doubt that will happen. On a different note, I find it just sad how much cars cost these days. In 2003, I leased an A4 1.8T Quattro with Premium + Sport Package with an MSRP if about $33,500. Something like that now costs nearly $40,000. How insane is that?

UPDATE: The 24mo-36mo rates on the A4 2.0T models pretty much stayed the same as in September. There was a hike in MF for the 48mo lease rate as well. Other models also saw some minor changes on the MF, nothing out of this world though, so the leases shouldn’t be too far off from last month. I have updated the post with the new numbers.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Hyundai Genesis

My Take: Shocking! This is my first Hyundai post. I wont deny that I’ve always viewed Hyundai with an eye of skepticism. Specially when it comes to the luxury-level cars they make. Hyundai has come a long way in terms of quality and reliability, but folks such as myself still need another 5-10 years of solid all-around quality cars to change our minds. With that said, I think Hyundai is making a strong case towards changing our minds with the introduction of the Genesis. The current 24-month lease rate for their V6 model is looking pretty decent, so it’s worth a look. They must be very confident of the Genesis to be leasing it for 2 years at practically no interest.

Featured Question 2 – Lease Rate for 09 Honda Fit

One of my readers, Crystal from Northern California, recently emailed me requesting lease rates for the 09 Honda Fit. As some of you may have noticed, the Honda Fit isn’t on the list of promotions under the Honda website. A good reason for that is that the Fit is selling rather well due to the high cost of gasoline. In some parts, I am hearing a whopping $2000 over MSRP, but most sell it for about MSRP.  Now, I don’t have lease rates for the Fit right now, nor have I come across it since I started this website. I have been rather unless in terms of helping Crystal out here, so I am hoping that perhaps any of you reading this blog have had any luck getting a hold of these rates.

Here’s what Crystal has been able to find thus far:

ALL for 2009 Fit Sport, AT, 36mo, 12k/year

Dealer #1
MF=0.00280 residual value 64% with 36 months

Dealer #2
MF=0.00310 residual value 64% with 36 months

Dealer #3
MF=0.00280 residual value 64% with 36 months

Dealer #4
MF=0.00280 residual value 64% with 36 months

The consensus seems to be 64% for the residual and .00280 for the money factor. However, I am not sold on the money factor being .00280. For a 36 month lease, Honda seems to use .00270 as their “Super-preferred” rate, not .00280. That is the case with Acura as well. Then again, .00010 isn’t exactly a major markup either, so I don’t see why they would bother to mark it up so little if .00270 was indeed the case. There is also an outside chance that the rate could be .00255. If there are any readers who can help confirm this, that would be great.

October 2008 Lease Rates for All 09 Mercedes Benz Models

My Take: Slim pickings here for Mercedes-Benz. Of the entire line up, the following four rides seem to have resonable money factors and residual values (actually, all C300s have the same rates, so you can go with either the sport, sport 4matic, lux or lux 4matic). You should be able to get a pretty nice discount on these rides though, so that should make up for it. Invoice or less is what I would personally shoot for. Keep in mind that a 48-month lease may yield lower monthly payments, so that is always an option. Remember, in our current economic environment, they need you more than you need them. October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Acura RL

My Take: The 09 RL seems to have gotten the TSX/TL nose job as well. Eww. If you are looking to lease this car, it seems to be a much better lease at the base level trim. If you haven’t noticed yet, Honda/Acura tends to give much lower residual values for the cars containing the Tech package. The logic, at least on my part, is that technology depreciates fast and that lowers the residual value for tech packages found accross all of Honda/Acura’s cars seems to reflect that. This isn’t exactly the explanation Honda/Acura will give you, but at the very least, it seems to make sense. With that said, the RL has lease support for the 09 model, so it may be worth a look. Check THE LIST to compare it’s payments with other models.

October 2008 Lease Rates for All 09 BMW Models

My Take: Here are the lease rates for the 2009 BMW models. The 2008 models should be the same as last month, here’s a quick link to that post. I’ve picked out a selection of cars that I feel has a good balance of high residual value and lower money factor, compared to the rest of the BMW lineup. You can check out THE LIST later to compare these numbers with other models. As usual, the 1-series’ money factor is getting no love from the folks at BMW. While the 3-series seems to have well-rounded numbers. The upside to the 1-series is that it has a much higher residual value, which seems to help counter the high money factor.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 08/09 Acura TL

My Take: The new 09 Acura TL is finally out and it’s looking alright, from a leasing standpoint. The residual value is high, the money factor is also kind of high, but that’s Honda’s standard rate, so it’s not TOO bad. Check out MBs lease rates and you’ll see what I mean. The price range for the TL has gone up considerably, with the base model starting at around $35k. I don’t recommend leasing this car since I’m pretty sure invoice price will be hard to come by. If you do, please leave a comment, inquring minds want to know. For those shopping for an 08 model, there’s about $3500 worth of dealer cash, so that should help offselt the less than desirable residual value and money factors.

UPDATE: I have updated the lease rates for the month. The 24mo lease seems to be a horrible lease right now. That seems to be the trend for most cars nowadays thanks to the financial crisis, it seems short-term leases aren’t as attractive. You may want to consider the 48mo lease in this case. The MF drops and the residual holds steady at 54%, which is better than most 36mo leases.
