October 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Acura MDX

My Take: MDX is not a good lease this month. Just look at the money factor. It doesn’t help that this is the 2008 model, so the residual values are reaching the lowest point of the year. If you have been following this blog for some time or have been leasing for a while, you know these two numbers make for a seriously bad lease. Pass!

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 VW Jetta, Acura RDX and Toyota Prius

My Take: Couple of things…the Prius lesses well because of the high residual value, but the money factor is pretty high in my opinion. Lower than Honda’s standard lease rate, but high nonetheless, so watch out for that. The RDX looks like it needs further money factor reduction to make it more attractive. It isn’t horrible, but I the lower residual value doesn’t help keep the costs down. Lastly, the Jetta TDI (for those who live in states that have them) seems like an excellent lease with a .00148 mf and fairly high residual values. Remember to lease it for no more than 36 months because VW’s Warranty is only 3 years.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Honda Accord Coupe

My Take: The money factor on the Accord coupe isn’t looking very good. It gets worse if you try to lease the car for more than 36 months. The residual value is fairly high, so it will help offset the higher money factor. Personally I prefer a slightly higher residual value than a slightly lower money factor. A 1% residual increase is a far better discount than say .0001 money factor reduction.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Lexus RX350 and Toyota Camry

My Take: Sorry folks, I haven’t had the time to make up payment estimates (life of getting in the way), so I will be posting the rest of the lease rates I have. I can say that the rates look pretty good here for the RX350 and the Camry. Residuals are fairly high and money factors are pretty low. This makes for a nice leasing combination. Stay tuned for more lease rates I’ve found. Will be posting them shortly.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Infiniti EX35

My Take: Couple of months ago, IFS was pushing their 24 month leases at rockbottom money factors. 60 days later and a financial meltdown later, you’re looking at more attractive 36month and 48month leases for the EX35. How things change! Its not a bad idea to lease for 48 months as long as the warranty runs that long. Premium cars typically include a 48-month warranty, while the rest usually offer a 36-month warranty. As for the EX35, most people will have a hard time finding a base 2WD or 4WD model on the lots. They were rare over the summer, so chances are they will be practically non-existant now. Too bad, because they seem to lease cheaper than the Journey. As far as pricing is concerned, $1500 under wasn’t unheard of back in July, certainly not impossible now. There is $500 dealer cash so factor that into your calculations. Just for reference, the 48mo lease should be about $6 or so less per month than the 36mo.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Audi TT

My Take: The TT leases look good enough to look into this month. Unfortunately, there isn’t any dealer or manufacturer cash floating around, so you will need to put on your negotiator hat for this one. Just keep in mind that this is a buyers market, so if you have any reservations about the deal, walk away from it. As for me, I doubt this car will ever see the comforts of my garage. The bargain hunter in me cannot justify a 4cyl two-seater that costs well over $40k equipped the way I like it.

October 2008 Lease Rates for 09 Audi A5/S5 and A8/S8

My Take: Nothing to sing about here. The A5/S5 still has pretty high money factors, granted they have dropped some since it’s introduction. The A8/S8 suffers from poor residual values, otherwise, the money factors look pretty good. Unfortunately, we need both numbers to be good in order to have a decent deal on our hands, so my suggestion is to skip them both this month.

October 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Audi A3

My Take: Yickes, the A3 isn’t exactly a deal right now with those high money factors. I wouldn’t recommend leasing this car this month unless you like paying high interest rates. It seems the 2nd half of the year is truly not as good as the 1st half of the year when it comes to leasing.
