November 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Nissan GT-R

My Take: Ever wonder how much it would cost you to lease a Nissan GT-R? Wonder no more! For my amusing lease of the day, I decided to pop in a few numbers into the calculator and see what we would be looking at. I did this back in August for the Audi R8 and these are the numbers I got:

24mo Payment: $2693 at invoice, $3098 at MSRP
36mo Payment: $2188 at invoice, $2467 at MSRP

Now for the GT-R:

24mo Payment: $1096 at invoice, $1308 at MSRP
36mo Payment: $1089 at invoice, $1236 at MSRP

Looks pretty good to me! The problem is, you can’t get a GT-R at invoice or at MSRP for that matter. TMV suggests $10,000 markup and I’m inclined to believe that its more like 20k. I can probably lease TWO GT-Rs for the price of one R8.

November 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Land Rover LR3

My Take: I watched the new James Bond movie this weekend and I noticed Ford spent a good chunk of their marketing cash advertising their line up. I probably saw the LR3 more than any other Ford on the film. On a side note, an old beat-up Ford Bronco got some screen time, imagine that! Anyway, Ford Credit lease rate are terrible right now, so avoid leasing through them. Go with an independent bank or find one using Leasecompare.com if you don’t have one.

November 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution

My Take: I’m not sure I can recommend leasing the Lancer EVO GSR or MR at the moment. The MF is rather tempting on the GSR, but don’t let it fool you, it still will cost you upwards of $600 if you want options. The better alternative is to buy using the 0% financing plus the $500 loyalty and $500 military rebates available if you qualify.

November 2008 Lease Rate for 09 Honda Pilot

My Take: There aren’t cash rebates for the Pilot this month, but you can get special financing at 3.9% for 60 months. I would lease personally since the interest rate is lower. If you want to lease the EX, I think the sweet spot would be a 36 month/12k mile term. Assuming you can get it at invoice, your payments should hover around $386 + tax with inception fees due at signing. Thats not bad for $30k dollar SUV that sits 6-8 people.

November 2008 Lease Rats for 08 Infiniti M35 and 09 Infiniti FX

My Take: The M35 seems to have a lot of rebates available so you can probably a get a hefty discount. One thing keep in mind is that the M35 leases better at the 36 month and 48 month terms due to a discount on the money factor. There is also 0.9% financing for up to 72 months so that is also a good alternative to leasing. The FX isn’t seeing much of a discount or any lease support at the moment. Still a relatively new SUV, so I’m not very surprised. I would recommend holding out until next year, to see if the numbers improve.

November 2008 Lease Rates for 09 VW Routan and Tiguan

My Take: VW’s brand new Minivan (Routan) has a fairly attractive leasing offer right now. There aren’t any cash rebates, but the residual and money factor is fairly attractive. Remember that you can save yourself anywhere from $20-$30 per month if you opt for the 12k mile term instead of the 15k mile term. That will boost your residual value about 2%. The Tiguan continues to have fairly low money factors and high residual value this month so it is a good alternative if you are looking to lease something with decent cargo room. There is “special” financing available starting at 3.9% for 36 months and so on. The longer the term, the higher the percentage.

November 2008 Lease Rates for 09 Acura TSX and TL

My Take: The residual values are strong on the 09 TSX and TL, but the money factor is still the deal-killer here. Way too high in my opinion. I can’t justify leasing a sub-$30k car for $400+ per month after taxes. That’s just too much. I won’t even get into the payments on the TL, ridiculous. I think something has got to give between now and sometime early next year. The money factors should drop more. I think the base TSX leasing around $350 after taxes (with inception due at signing) is reasonable, while the TL base should be somewhere in the low $400s with tax and inception fees due at signing. That would ideal.

November 2008 Lease Rates for 08/09 Lexus ES and IS models

My Take: The rates for the 09 Lexus ES and IS look promising this month. I get the feeling that the days of leasing a $30k+ luxury car for $300s a month with just inception fees and taxes are over. After looking at Infiniti’s 09 G37s, I’m starting to think that the banks have decided not to inflate residual values too much. Good for them, bad for us. In any case, Lexus residual values could use a boost, but the money factors are pretty good. There is a $1000 cash rebate for current/former ES owners, so be sure to take advantage of that if you have/had an ES. FYI…invoice data isn’t available on the 09 IS and ES on Edmunds so you’ll have to guess as to what it is. I suspect it should be around $2000 or so under MSRP.
