logo_benz My Take: Looks like the G, GL and GLK went back to sucking. The only “bright” spot would be the ML350, which has a decent residual and a decent money factor. Despite this, check in with your local Benz dealer and see how much of a discount they are willing to give you. This should at least give you an idea as to what kind pf payment range you would be looking at. As I mentioned in a previous Benz post, VJ says that AMBASSADOR numbers are out AKA Employee Discount, so they might be rolling that out to some customers.

logo_benz My Take: For the most part, the lease rates for these SUVs have stayed the same. The only expection, as Barry mentioned, is the GLK350 going up to .00253 from last month’s .00213. The AWD version still retains the lower MF however, which is good. Personally, I wouldn’t get an SUV unless it was AWD. The ML is still a great lease right now, so I highly recommend it if you are looking into if you are able to get $10k off the MSRP. MB is really trying to move their cars, so don’t be afraid. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what they are willing to offer you.

logo_benz My Take: YES! The GLK FINALLY GOT A DROP IN MF! Nothing too significant, but better than nothing. The MLs are also getting MF drops, making it a pretty sweet deal. Recently Brian got a pretty good deal on the ML that VJ had difficulty replicating. However, I got an email from VJ yesterday stating that there might be enough rebates and programs out there that could drop the price a whopping $10k (as Brian had indicated). Of course, without any one else being able to pull this off yet, I would approach this deal with some caution. Certainly there are some deals to be had on the ML, just not 100% sure if all of you can tap into that. Just know that the possibility is there and going to the dealer and requesting $10k off MSRP might get you somewhere.

One a different note, I’d like to remind all newcomers that the Lease Rates get posted as I find them. There really isn’t a “request” system here. I find, I post. The requests forum is mostly for me to keep an eye out on some particular vehicles, but I make no guarantees. I tell you this so that you don’t get too disappointed when I tell you that “I don’t have them”. This is how it is with lease rates, they are just hard to come by.

logo_benz My Take: I’ve picked out some of the following models as “decent” leases for the month. As usual, the leases with high residual values (.00200+) should be avoided. Those above .00100 may need some MSDs to make them a bit more affordable. Residual values for all Mercedes Benz are typically fairly low, so don’t expect any crazy-cheap leases. Don’t forget to do a little shopping for comparable models from other brands to see if its worth the extra cash to be seen in a Benz.

Here are some of the notable models you should probably look into:

ML350, ML350 4matic, R350, CLK Convertibles, SL550 and non-AMG SLKs.

I might consider doing away with “THE LIST” since there haven’t been CAN’T-MISS deals lately. The 2009 E-Class, 2009 3-series, 2009 Acura TL and 2009 C350 were probably the best all-around deals this year. Other honorable mentions are the G37, Accord and Camry. As you can see, most of the better deals occured in the 1st half of the year (which I consider the best time to lease), so you probably won’t be seeing great deals on the 2010 until sometime next year.

09 Mercedes Benz ML Lease Rates – July 2009

logo_benz My Take: The MF on the ML350 and ML350 4matic are solid. But, the residual values are a bit too low. Still, not a terrible lease for the most part due to the $2000 lease cash that lasts through the end of July. This is also a great candidate for lease-end purchase since the MF is lower than the APR you can get should you decide to finance a purchase. Just remember that the remining payoff would need to be paid off in full or financed at a relatively low APR in order to make this worthwhile. What I would suggest doing is leasing the car first and put a way an extra few hundred bucks a month away every month to use towards the payoff at lease end. Should you choose to buy the car out, you can payoff a huge portion of that payoff, thus reducing the amount you financed at lease end. If you decide you don’t want to buy it out, no big deal, you just saved nearly $10k since you had been putting away some money every month for the last four years.

logo_benz My Take: With the exception of the ML550, the rest of the lineup’s lease rates are not bad if you are considering a lease-to-buy. As you all know, the best deals are those cars that have low money factors, high residual values and some rebates or hefty dealer discounts. For the MLs, I would probably opt for the ML320 Bluetech if I wanted to lease-and-return. If I wanted a lease-to-buy, I would opt for the ML350 4matic because of the slightly higher residual and low money factor. The ML63 isn’t bad either if you have the cash for it.

logo_benz My Take: Alright everyone, this is the last set of lease rates I have for now. I will in the Bay Area this weekend so my ability respond to your questions will be limited. I will post more rates if any of them show up between now and Friday, but until then, I hope what we currently have will hold you guys over until I return.

Before I leave for the long weekend, I want to leave you all with a few thoughts for the month of May. Mercedes Benz is having some SERIOUSLY attractive leases right now. I have been hammering about the C350 (over the C300) for about 3 months now and I will continue to do so until I see the numbers get worse. I would get a C350 myself if I could get someone to assume my lease on the G37, but is unlikely to happen any time soon. I don’t know how much longer MB Financial will keep things up, so in on it while the getting is good. Also look into the CLK since it will be discontinued; Probably due to the fact that the E-Class will also come in coupe form. The 2010 E-Class is currently being unveiled from dealership to dealership across the US. As a matter of fact, they are unveiling it tomorrow night at the Mercedes Benz of Long Beach from 5pm to 8pm. If you are in the area, stop by and check it out. I will try to make if I can find the time. If you go, be sure to chat with our Dealerplace contact, Aaron McCroskey. He’s a good guy and will answer all your questions regarding MB cars. If you in the market for a BMW and you are also in So Cal, be sure to speak with Dave Persaud, he’s a good guy too. Now, as for the MLs and the R. Stick with the ML350 4WD since it has the best money factor. You could go with the ML320, but there just aren’t many of those to choose from on most lots. Always make sure you are prepared before talking to your dealer. Have a payment range in mind, a sale price in mind and inquire about all inception fees. If you come prepared, you will make it easier on the dealer as well since they don’t have to go back and forth with you.

logo_benz My Take: The the ML350 and the ML320 are probably the better leases this month. The ML350 has a fairly low residual value, but the money factor is good (not great though). Then you have ML320 which has a much higher residual value and the money factor is still within an acceptable range. The bad news is that this month’s rates are much worse than March 2009’s numbers. The good news is that MB has been fairly competitive in pricing lately, so you should definitely check with a few dealers to see who’s willing to give you the best deal.
