October 2008 Lease Rates for 09 Audi A4

My Take: The lease rates for the 09 Audi A4 seem to be the same as last month. Many folks have been getting quotes this month for the same residual values and the same money factors. Keep this in mind: The base rate can be attained by putting a security deposit, in some cases, you don’t even have to. AudiCare will increase the residual value of any trim you select by 1%, but it will cost you about $650. To keep things in perspective, an oil change from Audi costs about $80.00, as a SPECIAL…not cheap. It pretty much pays for itself. Anyway, I will update this post if the rates change over the course of the month, but I highly doubt that will happen. On a different note, I find it just sad how much cars cost these days. In 2003, I leased an A4 1.8T Quattro with Premium + Sport Package with an MSRP if about $33,500. Something like that now costs nearly $40,000. How insane is that?

UPDATE: The 24mo-36mo rates on the A4 2.0T models pretty much stayed the same as in September. There was a hike in MF for the 48mo lease rate as well. Other models also saw some minor changes on the MF, nothing out of this world though, so the leases shouldn’t be too far off from last month. I have updated the post with the new numbers.

September 2008 Lease Rates for 09 Audi A4

My Take: Yup, it’s here. The highly anticipated 2009 Audi A4 lease rates are out, and they actually look pretty solid. This is surprising since leasing is supposed to be “bad” in this economy. I personally find it hard to believe that automakers will do away with leasing completely, or make it so unattractive to dissuade us from leasing altogether. I suspect that it all depends on the term and the car being leased.

Add 1% to the residual if you purchase the AudiCare package. That will add $650 more to you sale price, but the increased residual will save you money overall.

Be very careful here. If you pick the prestige package, that’s a whole different car with lower residuals and MF. This is just for the premium package. If you haven’t noticed, there isn’t a FWD version of the A4 sedan anymore. Which explain the bump of around $3k on the base price tag. TMV Suggest a sale price of $37,354, which is practically nothing. I’m not surprised. This car is redesigned after all. Still a bit expensive for my taste if you ask me. I would probably look at the 09 C300, I hear that $1000 below invoice is not unheard of.

This one is one is for you Dianne. ^_^ The numbers look pretty good for the A4 Cabrio. So I would recommend it if you are looking for a Convertible. The numbers are certainly better looking than the 3-series right now. With very limited convertibles in the entry-level luxury segment, this one is certianly worth checking out. Who knows, Audi just might not jerk you around like BMW normally does.

Rest of the A4 line up
Numbers look pretty decent, but there is room to go lower. Don’t expect crazy sub $400 a month deals any time soon (ever?). I think as the residuals drop, Audi will adjust the MF to keep the payments around the same ballpark.

August 2008 Lease Rate for 08/09 Audi A4/S4/RS4

My Take: Current Audi owners/lesses have $2500 cash available for lease or purchase from AFS. There is also 0.9%-2.9% for up to 60 months, with the lower percentages going to 2-3 year financing. The cash certainly helps if you qualify for it. If you don’t, expect payments to go up $60-70 per month.

Fairly competitive if you ask me (Even though, not exactly ideal). Payments are hovering around the same as the 328i. Which would I rather have? If I lived in snowy weather, the A4 would be the better choice because it’s Quattro system is superb. Even on summer tires, I’ve driven through heavy rain like it was on dry asphalt, that’s how good it is. Aside from the A4 2.0T SE trims, the rest of the A4 lineup doesn’t seem to have great leases at the moment (I’m not even going to get into the S and RS models).

My Take: The Avant is pretty much a fancy word for “Wagon”. If there is a wagon worth getting though, its the A4 (the S4 would be ideal). I’m rather surprised how low the residual value of the Avant is for 36-months. It barely cracks 50% in 36months (based on a 12k mile/yr lease). I guess Audi Financial Services’ low money factor helps keep the price reasonable, but I’m still expecting a $500+ monthly payment plus inception fees.

May 2008 Lease Rates for Audi A4 Quattro

36mo/12k – residual 54% (55% with Audicare) – money factor .00027

My Take: The residual stinks, but the finance charge is approximately $10 a month, so it offsets the low residual value of the vehicle. The 2.0T is great in the FWD models. Its fast, responsive and 100 times better than the 1.8T. It gets fairly decent fuel economy for a Turbo. However, the AWD adds significant weight to the vehicle, so the question is, can the 200hp 2.0 liter Turbo handle it? I know from personal experience that the 1.8T didn’t. The last thing you want to have for 36 months is “the little engine that COULDN’T”.

May 2008 Lease Rate for 08 Audi A4 Cabriolet

Audi A4 2.0T Cabriolet Quattro (Geez, long enough name you think?)

36mo/12k miles/yr – residual 55% – money factor .00048

My Take: It took me some time to “warm up” to the redesigned A4 in general. I preferred the 2002 model style, but really hated the 1.8T engine because the coil packs were prone to “blow” and the engine was far too underpowered for an AWD sedan of that size. In any case, the current model has slowly grown on me. The front grill still looks like my goldfish’s mouth during feeding time, but the peppy 2.0T engine makes up for it by providing you with very little turbo lag and getting better gas mileage than the 1.8T. The residual and money factor is looking pretty darn good right now, so if you want to lease a convertible to get ready for the summer, this is not a bad choice.
