2009/2010 Mercedes Benz ML, R, CLK, SL, SLK Lease Rates – September 2009

logo_benzMy Take: I’ve picked out some of the following models as “decent” leases for the month. As usual, the leases with high residual values (.00200+) should be avoided. Those above .00100 may need some MSDs to make them a bit more affordable. Residual values for all Mercedes Benz are typically fairly low, so don’t expect any crazy-cheap leases. Don’t forget to do a little shopping for comparable models from other brands to see if its worth the extra cash to be seen in a Benz.

Here are some of the notable models you should probably look into:

ML350, ML350 4matic, R350, CLK Convertibles, SL550 and non-AMG SLKs.

I might consider doing away with “THE LIST” since there haven’t been CAN’T-MISS deals lately. The 2009 E-Class, 2009 3-series, 2009 Acura TL and 2009 C350 were probably the best all-around deals this year. Other honorable mentions are the G37, Accord and Camry. As you can see, most of the better deals occured in the 1st half of the year (which I consider the best time to lease), so you probably won’t be seeing great deals on the 2010 until sometime next year.

  1. G, thanks for the info.

Looking at the 2010 ML 350. MSRP: $53,185 Invoice: $49,524

If I could get invoice ($49,524) minus the $2000 dealer cash currently being offered for a SP of $47,524…what do you think I could get a lease for on a 36/39 10K ?

    Thanks a lot

    • @msf83. You would be looking at a monthly payment of about $630 before sales tax. Your inception would include that 1st month payment + MB’s Bank fee of about $1095 + dealer fees + dmv fees. I estimate this to run about $2000-$2500, depending on your state. I have the lease rates for 39mo terms, so I can’t really estimate. I would guess that the payments would drop 10-20 bucks per month, with inception fees around the same. If you manage to get the $47.5k sale price, that would be a good price for the ML.

  2. Thanks again.

I’m in Texas, and I’m trying to find out if there if the tax credits are still available. Does anyone reading this know?

    • @MSF. That was 36mo/10k miles per year. I’m not sure about the tax credit in Texas, so your best bet would be to inquire with your dealer.

  3. @G. I have been told from a leasing company that there is a “sweet spot” for a 35 month lease on an ML350 4matic this month. Is this true? Do you know anything about this?

    • @seth. as Marc says, the sweet spots are generally around 3 yrs, give or take a few months. I haven’t heard of anything specific relating to a 35-month lease, but I know 39-months are typically used to help lower the payments somewhat. I personally don’t really like 39-months too much because it requires me to pay for a whole years auto registration just to drive the car 3 months.

  4. @Seth,
Since companies lose money by offering short terms (24 months) they try to encourage people into longer leases by providing better rates in the 33-39 month range. So, in some situations there is a “sweet spot.” Good luck on the 350 deal!

  5. Also, as you pointed out in previous threads G, some companies only offer a three year warranty; so for those remaining few months when you are most likely to encounter a problem you wont be covered.
