2010 Audi Lease Rates – July 2010

logo_audiMy Take: Some changes in the Audi lineup this month…The TDI A3s, for example, dropped in residual and went up on the money factor. Not exactly the direction you’d want them to go, but there is loyalty cash still available remaining 2010 A3s. 2011 will be arriving in the Fall, so it’s pretty safe to say that production is wrapping up. As for the rest of the Audi lineup, there are some drops in residual and money factor as well. Some models also got bumps on the MF as well, so pick and choose your car with caution. Check out the incentives page on Edmunds (link at the bottom of this post) to see which models have some lease cash available because with residuals like this, only rebates can make these leases half-decent. Overall, the 2010 model year is winding down, so you will start seeing residuals take a hit through the rest of the year. Use your best judgement when it comes to MFs. If you are looking at a ride that has a MF of 0.00012, chances are, it isn’t going to drop that much more. It may be wise to pull the trigger on it, specially if there are cash incentives available. Otherwise, you could be looking at a lower residual, possibly higher MF and no cash incentive. I would also like to add that “buying” should not be overlooked since there are some decent interest rates available right now (2.9% for 60 months isn’t half bad).

  1. 2011 S5 Premium Plus, Phantom Black, Sports Diff.
Quoted- $54065.38 ($750 over invoice), 36mo/10k, $818.12 including tax (9.5%). Residual 59%, MF .00215. Can you tell me if these numbers are good? Thanks.

    • @david. what’s the MSRP? I can’t find the latest data on 2011 S5s, but if I use 2010 estimates, the MSRP is like $55k. I just can’t see $1000 off MSRP being $750 over invoice. Regardless, the best number I see right now is the residual value. Everything else seems a bit high to me since this car is very new.

  2. Does anyone know if Audi offers a multiple security deposit program like BMW does? I’ve found a little bit of older info saying you can buy down the MF .00008 per security deposit up to nine additional deposits or to a minimum MF of .00005 but have not been able to confirm anything. I usually find that the buyers need to educate the dealers on these programs when they exist…

Also, any info on the 2011 Q5 2.0t lease rates? They are starting to hit dealers now. Thanks!

  3. Looking to lease a premium plus q5 no Money down ….just first payment tax title reg…..10k miles per year …..any estimates

    • @S Kafury. Since no numbers are given, I will not be estimating the payments with tax…
      Here are the assumed details…

      MSRP 42225
      Sale 39100
      Residual 48%
      MF 0.00101
Monthly $583 + tax, with inception fees (approx 1500-2000) due at signing.

This lease isn’t ideal because the MF is a bit high while the residual is lower than what’s recommended for a lease. I have yet to see a Q5 lease well since it’s inception. In addition, I’d like to point out that if you live in the NE area of the US, $39100 might be a tough sale price to get.

  4. Ok went to the dealer today…….46500 car premium plus everything no bang and olfsun sound system….res is 56 percent on this car…..the told me 684 including taxes and only 1250 at signing ….first month payment and tax title reg……they didn’t tell mr what they discounted the car………I asked um for there best price …….

    • @s kafury. With dealers, you have to spell out exactly what you are looking for (and a few times too). The art of being a salesman is to keep you focused and informed with what they think you need to know, nothing else. Some are more honest and will provide you with the info you need to make an educated decision. Other, will beat around the bush and keep you focused on how much you pay at drive-off and how much you pay per month. That’s so that in case they want to fudge the numbers a bit, you won’t know. So my advice is simple. Have the dealer spell out the costs and don’t go to the dealership. Call or email your dealer instead, so you can move on to another dealer if you find this one tough to work with.
Here’s a general idea of what to ask your dealer:

MRSP (to make sure it doesn’t have ‘extras’ on it).
Sale Price (start with invoice, or $500 below invoice and go from there)
      Money Factor
      Residual Value
      Acquisition/Bank Fee
      Dealer Doc Fee
Other Fees (such as DMV, tire, etc…)
Is there a disposition? Gap coverage? (these are important things to know!)
Taxes (depending on which state you live in, find out if you have to pay those up front and/or if you need to pay for the entire car or just the depreciation)

  5. So this is what I got …I pick it up Friday ….2011 q5 premium plus white / cinnamon nav plus , bang and olefsun with both sat and HD radio ,s-line exterior ..and much more …689 including taxes …..1039 at signing 689 first month payment and the rest is title reg doc fees….good deal?

    • @S Kafury. I don’t think it’s a great deal personally. But then again, the Q5 was rarely a good deal. It’s more of a “doing the best you can out of a tough situation” type lease. Generally speaking, a great deal is when you are able to get a monthly payment that’s below 1.1% of the car’s MSRP with just the usual drive-off fees. That would be a fantastic deal. So if you take your monthly payment (pre-tax) and divide it by the MSRP of your car, it should give you a good idea as to how good of a deal this is. Of course, bare in mind that this COULD BE the best you can do on a 2011 Q5 at the moment, which is why I said “doing the best you can out of a tough situation”.

  6. I am looking to lease a 2011 or 2010 A4. Saw this on Audi’ website: http://www.southfloridaaudi.com/us_reg/region/miami/miami/south_florida_audi_dealers.html

It is a little confusing because the title is 2011 a4 but when you click details it says 2010.

Anyway the local dealer here was wanting $4810 down, which was 2953 cap reduction and 1857 in various dealer fees! I don’t do cap reduction so the salesman asked me what about the 1857? He said the dealership would lose money without it. that seems like crazy dealer fees!

Any ideas on the lease ad or the dealer fees?

    • the dealership would lose money without it???? Really??? Haahaa. My wife went to our VW dealership, put down her signature and drove off with her car. I wonder how much money our dealer lost in THAT transaction!? Funny guy.

Dealers don’t lose money that easily. What they usually do is roll in the fees they want you to pay into the lease loan if you choose not to pay anything up front. Anyway, if you haven’t seen my “Demystifying the Marketing Ad” post, you should glance over it if you have the chance. Try using these types of promos as the starting point and try to hack away at the sale price. That is probably the single best way of lowering monthly payments (since residuals and money factors are fixed by the bank).

Lastly, the car is a 2010, not a 2011. I think they made a typo. I find it hard to believe they would be promoting the 2011 leases right now. Try finding another dealer if you can. Once you have found one with the ride you want, hop on Truecar.com and check to see the latest pricing trend in your area then shoot for the lowest “best deal” pricing. You have the residual and money factor, so just crosscheck with them to see if they will honor it. The dealer fees in FL are higher than what I pay here in CA, so you might not have much luck asking them to lower it. BUT you could try to compensate by pushing for a lower sale price. The $1800 bucks or so seems like the typical inception fees to get into a lease. You can choose to pay it or roll it into the lease, but I don’t think they will simply waive it because those fees include your 1st month payment, bank acquisition fees, security deposits, taxes, title and registration (and of course, their dealer doc fee).

  7. They deliver my q 5 thursaday 3.2 premium plus , nav , b o , s line , HD radio , black -black. 669 including my taxes……I took the black one it was 20 cheaper than the white one…..they wanted ti sell a car by July 31…lol

  8. G ~ is this a good deal? I cannot find any published lease rates for the 2011 Q5 models yet. Will rates change in August? Is it true that the lease rate goes down if I pay the security deposit?

    MSRP $41,550

2011 Q5 2.0T (Quartz gray) with Premium Plus and 19″ wheels
    48 month/15k mile lease
    Cap Cost – $40,502
MF – .00229 (seems very high to me)
    Residual – 42%
Total out of pocket at lease signing – $1,897 (taxes, fees, etc…)
Monthly Payment – $667 (including tax)

    • boltsfan, since i don’t have the 2011 q5 numbers, i can’t comment on the validity. But since you got them from your dealer, I would say they aren’t too far off. The Q5 doesn’t lease well at all. It never really has (since it’s introduction), so expect to pay more than comparable models from other brands. With that said, I think the money factor is really killing you right there. At 0.00229 x 2400 gives you an APR of around 5.472%. Ouch. If I were you, I would look for something else. The MF ins’t good and your sale price is even worse. If you aren’t in a hurry, I would recommend giving it a few months to see if the holiday season will include some more attractive lease rates and possible rebates.

  9. Boltsfan I got the 3.2 for 669 including taxes……so I would say no that’s not a good deal
