2010 Mercedes G, GL, GLK, ML Lease Rates – December 2009

logo_benzMy Take: For the most part, the lease rates for these SUVs have stayed the same. The only expection, as Barry mentioned, is the GLK350 going up to .00253 from last month’s .00213. The AWD version still retains the lower MF however, which is good. Personally, I wouldn’t get an SUV unless it was AWD. The ML is still a great lease right now, so I highly recommend it if you are looking into if you are able to get $10k off the MSRP. MB is really trying to move their cars, so don’t be afraid. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at what they are willing to offer you.

    • Unfortunately, the numbers do not apply to the 2009 models. I do know that you should be able to get a sizable discount on remaining 2009s. They seem to be more than willing to move those for big discounts.

  1. Already dealt with 2 South Florida MB dealers and didn’t even ask for 10% off MSRP, but around 8% instead. They pretty much told me to walk away as the numbers were a joke:

    =========
    For an MSRP of $50,525, payments of $540 + tax with $0 cap cost reduction
    Residual: 52% (3yr/36k miles)
    MF: .00054
    Add $2,000 cash to dealer.
    =========

    I guess MB dealers still expect high profits. Will see if I get a call back towards the end of the year.

  2. What percentage did the dealer come back to you with? They are only coming off msrp about 3.5%. I hate this process. Let me know what you are finding.

    • -all. I always find it easier to just offer the dealer a number vs having them offer you one. Do as Barry says, go to zag.com and find out what the car is going for in your area. Then maybe knock off a few hundred more off that because the dealer will more than likely counter offer.

  3. @G, @Barry. Tried Zag already. Same as the AMEX page. 5% off MSRP in my area. I guess South Florida is niche market of naive customers.

    @liftu, I already contacted a dealer in the Palm Beach that agreed that 7% is around a good discount and might get to 10% if I get one from their lot. As per the manager’s comments, they will be touching the holdback at that point (not sure if true though).

    • @zamo. It’s a bit different out there in Florida for some automakers. I hear Toyota has a whole different regional lease rate for their cars out there. I guess they know that since you are so far south, you can’t exactly go to a bordering state to get a better deal.

  4. Zamo, that is a bummer. Now that I have a car, I just received an unsolicited email from the Zag dealer closest to San Diego, in Laguna Niguel, saying the price has dropped from $1500 below invoice to $2400 below invoice. Hey, G, maybe check it out. You have to call the internet sales team. Let me know if you want their phone number.

  5. @G. I got a couple from replies that seem to be accepting my aggressive deal if I was to be sit and signing the paperwork on the spot. I also agree that the South Florida market can be different as there is no way for us to get to a different state and get a car… I have ordered an XC90 R-design already and the term I am getting is good considering that the dealer I am working with is just depending on their holdback for this transaction. I can still back out, but the Passion Red R-Design is just friggin nice!

    • @zamo. did they provide you with any numbers on the XC90? I am curious to see what the XC90 Rs are going for. I have mixed feelings about Volvos in general. My sister and her family own a few older Volvos and they’ve held up pretty darn well. However, I feel the built quality of the newer models is lacking. Even their Volvo mechanic says that they don’t build them like they used to. Lucky for us, we lease. LOL.

  6. Just finished negotiating a lease for a GL450, P2, parktronic, appearance package, lighting package. I had it built (ordered in November), so I was sure they would not have to floor plan it or pay for a dealer trade. Cap cost was just over 64k, MSRP about 72k. It took some work, but as I slowly revealed my knowledge of the variables and that I could actually work the lease formula, they gave in. I’m very happy with the deal.

    • @chilicat. very awesome! congrats on your lease! Education saves thousands!!! I’m glad where able to leverage your knowledge to save yourself some greens! That’s exactly what this website is all about! Congrats on the new ride and thanks for chiming in!

  7. @G. Thanks. Being able to get the residual and money factor from this site certainly helped me with the deal. I recommend this site for that info to experienced folks, and I also recommend it to folks to learn how to do the simple math of a lease forumla. I’m am never failed to be amazed at how many actual car salesman can’t run the formula or will refuse to give you a residual or money factor when you’re looking at leasing a vehicle. Kudos on this site.

  8. ok, forgive me for being slow. I am on the TN/GA/Al line and I am willing to drive to get a better deal. I want a 36 month lease 15,000 miles on a GL450. You think 8-9% is the number a dealer will come off sticker. I have really been trying to negoitate with very little success. This site has really helped educate me. I am planning on buying by the end of the month so please help me…If there is a particular dealer who will deal, give me their name and number. If it will save me money will travel to get it. Many thanks all

    • @liftu. no problem. Let us know how it goes with Zag.com. There has been a mixed bag of goods and bads so I am not sure what to make of that site right now.

  9. @G, The XC90 R lease program is not so good as you need to get the 48 month term in order to keep the payment low.

    MF: 0.00113
    Residual: 34%
    Sale Price: Invoice – $1,500 loyalty – $500 allowance – $500 Costco discount – $500 costco cash card. I am still working out numbers as I need them to go under invoice as baseline.

    • @zamo. wow the residual is pretty bad, but it looks like you are getting a lot of cash from that costco promo. Please keep me updated. Very curious as to how good the deal turns out.

  10. G (re liftu)

    Since I’m kind of a Zag fan (it has its limitations!), I looked into the GL that liftu is checking on. The problem is not Zag, but the car! I used the zip codes for Chatanooga and Huntsville, both near the AL-TN-GA line. The best offer is invoice – same as Southern California. Some areas in liftu’s area simply state that the car is not discounted. Goof luck, liftu.

  11. zag is showing me a price 5K below MSRP, that is not much compared to the 8K that chillicat recd. I am in NJ, are these prices based on region?area? new to MB leasing,,,,thanks

  12. @dollar pound: Don’t forget, this came off the truck and into my hands. They did not have to pay for shipping from another dealer and they got the bonus for not having to floor plan it. It was also just before Xmas in the last month of the year. The first two things gave them more room to move and the last two things gave them motivation to make the move.
